However you like or dislike what happened to ETHEREUM it is fact the truly winners are miners.

Thay can mine separatey two coins with good ratio. Also double top if poloniex was choosed as primary exchange.

Let me see if I get this right:

I have lots of ethereum since months, if now I start one Ethereum client with the option YES, I can start ethereum classic and I will be able to spend the same coins on both chains?

So anyone now is able to spend their ethereums 2 times if they had ethereums before the fork?

20k BTC volume!!!!! https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_etc
120k ETH volume!!!! https://poloniex.com/exchange#eth_etc

Note that this is NOT Ethereum Classic on Yobit.
https://yobit.net/en/trade/ETC/BTC

People were posting that ETC has been added to Yobit, it has not.

yeah, some EtherCoin from September 2014 !!! full POS

i have an old Ethereum-Wallet-win64-0-3-2. and geth version 1.3.1.
havnt synched since around millionth block. (sold all my eth)
if/when I fire it up, can anyone tell me
what chain will it synch to by default when it reaches HF?

I would guess it would stay on Classic but if i were you I would just download 0.8.1 and make an explicit choice.

Let me see if I get this right:

Read the Yes/No options carefuly. Yes is fork, No is classic.

And yes, if you had ethereum before the fork you will be able to spend those coins on both chains.

well in the end it's like your ethereum are worth 140k satoshi more, not really a big deal, if you had sold them when they were above 3M satoshi, it would have been much better

the word "classic" gives the initial impression of something old or outdated, maybe change it to something like "continuum".

In my opinion miner consensus on hardfork along with hardcoded carbon vote is centralized not decentralized. I am in support of classic.

Along with Nick Szabos original ideology of decentralized consensus mechanisms through smart contracts.

And yes, if you had ethereum before the fork you will be able to spend those coins on both chains.

How do I do this right without messing it all up?

1. I start the normal ethereum, I select the YES option

2. I install ethereum classic and I copy the keysote files to the ethereum classic keystore folder

3. I send transaction from the normal ethereum to my ETH address on polo

4. I send transaction from the ethereum classic to my ETC address on polo

5. I can sell both?

Hey jc congrats to legendary Smiley

ETC (re-)earned my respect for doing this, it's a pretty good choice IMHO.

Loading up the blockchain currently for a dedicated ETC pool

Roughly - yes. There is however a risk of a replay attack when you send the coins so make sure you understand that part. Unfortunately I can't help you much there as I don't have any forked ETHs and didn't have to worry about that.

This is good news for ETC, you're running solid pools.
