G'day I've been lurking these forums for a while now but recently have been in need of some bitcoins so I decided to jump in. Kicking myself I didn't do it sooner.

Hi All, I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to bitcoin, but I am a bit of the origional computer geek, but we were called Whizz Kids back then . I built my fist computer back when I was nine, back then you mail ordered a PCB and a large plastic bag of components (resistors, IC etc, not hard drives and video cards) and then attacked it with a soldering iron. I still have it somewhere, here is a link to Wikipedia if you want the spec's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_Scientific. Suffice to say with it's 4bit processor and 1k ram it would require some tricky programming and more tapes (Cassette back then) than I can be bothered calculating to generate single block. Fast forward 30 years to today, I am still a geek! I am the "computer guru" for a small programming house in New Zealand (6 Developers, 2 Management, 1 Office Girl and me). It 's quite a relaxed outfit and I am responsible for "everything technical that is not codeing", so I spend most of my days working with my servers and services (mostly linux/windows on tin and cloud platforms), going through logs and "playing" with new technology. I have been aware of bitcoins for quite some time and have run miners every now and then just for academic purposes, I even have a few coins in my wallet. Anyway, I was reading this forum today and noticed this post about Amazon EC2 instances https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=94024.0 and hunted around for the reply button because I have considerable experience in that area (involving running spot instances, its not only cheaper, but you can get a far better instance than a micro) and could not find it! After that I read the board policy's and started the process of "upgrading" to a Junior account (this post). So, yeah, Hi Guys and Gals .

Morning all.
I've been interested and reading about bitcoins for awhile now, though haven't begun mining (and probably won't as a poor grad student). I'm currently interested in the much of the mathematics, economics, infrastructure, and what I imagine (may) end up being the marketing, regulation, and law behind bitcoins. I'm hoping as my mathematical and program abilities increase I'll be able to dive into the deeper technical levels of the system. In any case happy to be on board.

God... Been a member here for so long yet haven't posted anything! >.<... Anyways, I'm vedalken254 (you can call me Veddy) and I usually try to keep myself occupied with Video Games... Alas, bitcoin mining and RL have kind of put a damper on that but oh well. RL Funds are down and so i bitcoin mine with my single XFX 5870. But that's me... Hopefully I don't scare too many people off... I tend to be very curious and also a questioning type person. (Isn't that what curious is? XD)
Anyways, I suppose i should get back to satoshiDICE now...

Started dabbling with bitcoins a little last year before the crash.
Just got back into it, and I'm amazed how much the community (and Services) have grown.

Hello all, Quick introduction... Big enthusiast from London. I acquired my first Bitcoins from a friend settling a tab back around the $20 mark... in that sense I lost out (fair play ) in another sense, he opened my eyes to the possibilities. Needless to say, I've been holding and accumulating BTC since then, as well as investing in various assets on GLBSE (big fan of Giga's operation). I'm looking to move from being just a "spectator" to being a more active contributor in the community. I'm working on a couple of ideas on the exchange side of things (which actually closely ties with the day job - which I'm even tempted to quit so I can pursue this). Here's to the future...

Hey everyone. Fairly new to Bitcoin, I was introduced to it a couple months ago and decided to do some more reading on the topic. So now I'm here. This seems like a nice community, I'm looking forward to talking more with you guys!
