I don't think these restrictions make much sense to be honest, just apply some good filters to signup and have vigilant moderation for the occasional human-spammer imho. They needlessly fill this newbie section with spam of people trying to get to the other sections for no reason.

I agree.  There are other ways to prevent this from happening.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Sigh*... I'm in stuck in this section Sad

Requested to get out like a week ago but I guess I'm not approved yet. If this procedure is done manually, then there's some inconsistencies here. I don't see much spam from other forums, and yet they don't implement this "newbie section" restriction. Most of the spam is prevented in the registration process I think.

Only logged in 1 hours 42 minutes.  More posts necessary before I can put in a warning about a bitmit user. Woohoo.

What kind of warning?
Perhaps it was the sexually deprived young British student who later turned out to be not quite what she claimed.

Let me start by saying the reason I got screwed over is largely my own fault.  Some douchebag has an account named TheTechguy75, well at least he did until Marius banhammered him.  He was selling a '2nd hand' xfx 7970. Deal seemed expensive enough to be true, he also had some boards and 2600k's listed there.  I suggested I send him 15btc and the rest paypal or amazon payments so it would at least be somewhat reversible.  Sent a small down payment thru btc because he was getting furious and was going to 'relist the card.' Basically pissed away a couple coins, 8.3 to be exact, my fault, but i figured a 325 dollar 7970 was worth the gamble, worst case I would be out a couple weeks worth of power on my mining rigs. Once things started going downhill I had Marius look up his IP and it was coming from London. Whoops! Watch out for anyone who lists stuff with escrow, they can request early release of escrow and if you don't watch it close the time period can expire and it will be released to them.

It's too bad the internet has come down to requiring some boards having to resort to these restrictions. I wish there was another way to screen malicious people out.

Nothing keeps scammers out, it's intended for spammers and trolls, they generally won't put in the time just to get banned anyway with nothing to show for it. Scammers make money, so they don't care as much about the time investment.
