Great idea. I run a few forums myself, maybe I should add this feature.

I'm for anti-trolling, but I dont think this is the best way to fight it.

i agree, i've been using the internet for over 14 years and developing websites for over 9 years and feel like i'm being treated like a grade schooler

Thanks you so much for this restrictions. Spams are always very annoying.
But you don't need these restrictions to prevent spam. Look at one of my web sites, http://winhlp.com/ . It does not have any trace of spam.

The method is twofold. First you have to register, which requires passing a little IQ test, easy enough for a 7-year-old, but too difficult for most Chinese spammers. Only a few get through this test. Without registration you cannot post, just like here.

Second, you cannot easily post anything that contains links, which is all the spammers want. There are several good ways to allow links for reliable users, but disallow them for new users.

I think I'm still in "newbie jail". Wanting to reply to a few threads mentioning my business (Shire Silver).

Whitelist request!

I've been mining since April 2011, currently mining @ eligius.st with 3x5850 and 1x6870 in two boxes, both running BAMT from USB.

I only have two replies on this board so far, but one of them (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=6458.msg109652#msg109652) was a informational post helping people to get the dependencies for Phoenix on Ubuntu last May...

I have some really nice supermicro cases (3x Redundant 1000W power supplies, SAS/SATA backplanes, 4U tower, almost new) and some 4x PCIe and 4xOpteron mobos I want to list in the marketplace, so that's my immediate motivation, but I'm a long-time reader and plan to be into the future.

Thanks!

E

(ps Also I have a single-letter username)

Well, I guess I will have to go the five post route, in any case -- tralalala.

Hrmm, well at least this board is much more lenient than a lot of others when it comes to newbie requirements. TYVM for that

I suppose this isn't a bad way of moderation. It does eliminate casual users who just want to quickly answer a question for one user though.
