If you already got an account, you also get an initial reward depending of your existing total score:

    over 100,000,000 points: $150.00.

It's a way to bring new people into Byteball.

Would have been really good if bets on IPL (Indian premiere league), and other international matches could have also been made on byteball platform.

I have an idea. Why don't user get additional Bytes when they earned a batch like contributed total processing power for 14 days to a project. I do not know if it is technically feasible to implement but it would be an additional appetizer to join and would increase gamification factor.
