I see some effort to make it user friendly, but how it should be installed to get desktop icon.

Just unzip and overwrite the old version.
The app creates a .desktop file at ~/.local/share/applications (check that it exists), it should be automatically detected by the OS.
Yes it is, thanks.

But there is another problem in version 0.2 and 0.5 as well is crashing cinnamon.

"
Cinnamon just crashed. You are currently running in Fallback Mode.

Do you want to restart Cinnamon?
"
Restart makes all OK.

Good coin and concept, very innovative, but the distribution way is terrible, you only serve those btc whales. If someone has 10k-100k btc and verified his addy, so he will get most coins. Fair? It may kill the project.

Have you considered a distribution where not only btc but other major altcoins are considered? It would be more complex of course but much fairer

Byteball v0.5.0 released https://github.com/byteball/byteball/releases

* Light wallet option for desktop wallets (the option is available only in new installs), now you don't have to wait that the sync completes and can start using the wallet immediately
* Show current percentage of sync
* Show more details in transaction history: unit and from address
* Multi-line input in chat
* On Windows and Mac, a badge is displayed on the app icon when a new chat message is received while the app is in the background, so you won't miss a message
* Fixed database locking issues on Android
* Fixed crashes when working with a multisig wallet that is not yet approved by all parties
* Better UI when trying to send private assets outside chat
* Protocol changed from byteball: to byteball-test: to allow future livenet wallet to co-exist with testnet wallet on the same device

Please upgrade desktop clients using the link above.  New version of android client was submitted to Google Play an hour ago, should update automatically unless you disabled autoupdates.

The next big step will be testnet-to-testnet linking, after which we'll launch a new testnet with distribution proportional to Bitcoin testnet balances.

Please retweet https://twitter.com/ByteballOrg/status/792410189966241793

Hi tony,
I'm very impressed by all of this. I think the tech / wallet is well done. I’m not a crypto insider, but I tryed 3 different devices (Win10/ FireOS 5.3.1/Android 5.1.1. - mulitsig wallet 2 of 3 is very nice an works fine. Update was easy for me..
I agree to your distribution scheme with a little change:

1.   Freedom 251 is an Indien Smartphone (price 3,3 €) So if they by a smartphone installing BB and receive Bytes for free they get a nice sponsorship:
0,001 BTC -> 64 Cent -> 62,5 KBytes  0,64 €/3,3 €= 19%
With 1% of the distribution you can easy generate 160 Mio. of such Sponsorships. Lots of bytes will be lost.. who cares.. If the spending is low, hopefully there will be no great incentive for abuse. Maybe you can combine Captcha / Device address …

2.   The people with open mind are not old men with a lot of money (look at the social media) or freaky traders. You have to interest the young people to get in touch with BB. Money hast to flow..
Give them some pocket money to get interested and become in touch with BB.
Yes, thousands of this Sponsorships / Seeds will fail, millions of Bytes will be lost - who cares ..
To attack PayPal you can’t go the same way (from top) - you have to come from below with the power of the masses.

3. There is also the possibility to give Bytes to social organisations.

4.You can also ask the community to vote for the best use of the X%

This are only some examples to clarify the idea. There will be much more ideas if you think in this direction. I think such activitis are more sustainable than being a one year wonder at polo. You should reserve 1% (or more) for such activities.

The other idea was that the “investors” has to “pay” this social (and marketing) fee depending on her BTC volume. But they will split..

Your Slogan should be “Divide et impera”. Ripple spend her token to the banks, you spend some token for free to the people..

To reaching a lot of people, for a “deeper” Distribution (outside of cryptoland / insider) you have to lower the techlevel / barrier to entry (no crypto tech speak). I hope sometimes there will be some brand new youtube video “How to use Byteball easy in the right way”. Ask the people on the street whether they understand what Byteball stands for. If they do, you are right.

Sorry for my bad english – It took me more than 4 hours to write this... Smiley

good luck

Ah OK.
Android: you don't need to do anything, it autoupdates automatically (unless you turned autoupdates off)
Desktop: you manually install the new version, your data stays intact.

i think so. If people have many btc , they don`t need byteball. They play with byteball two hours and will forget about. Distribution way now - suicide byteball.

Or just cap the amount of BTC that can be linked, like I said several times already, it's stupid to reward someone who has 1k BTC, you won't build a community this way.

The purpose is to get the coin available to a large group of people in the most transparent way.  Bitcoin has by far the largest user base among cryptos, and adding alts doesn't justify the complexity.

Please avoid bringing up fairness here, it's subjective and means so many different things to different people.

hello tonych    Grin

gd day to you

please try to think about cost of transaction & idea to include it inside the distribution/inflation/total max float  of the BYTEBALL

please think about making byteball a currency with NO TRANSACTION COST

this would be super COOL  Cool

regards

Maybe a little bit OT:
I’d was just reading that migrants sending every year 440 Milliarden Dollar home - most to Albanien, Afghanistan und Nigeria.
They use travel agencies, supermarkets and kiosk near the station to transfer the money using Western Union, Moneygram and Ria.

„Use BB.HS (BB- home-send) get 64,2 kB for free”
„Save transfer around the world in seconds. Your BTC / Byte Dealer (every fu.. kiosk owner) will help you to tranfer.“

Yes, I know the problem ist the interface fiat<->crypto. So, maybe therefore  crypto will be a hidden layer for a very long time…
But people which selling cigarettes and lottery ticket can also sell BTC or Bytes using her mobile..
The problem ist to generate a initial demand - we have a classical problem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_or_the_egg
To break the barrier and to initialize a Revolution, the fees have to be so smal against classical competitors (Western Union, Moneygram, Ria) that the people overcoming habits , fears  and prejudices.

That shoud not be a great Problem: I was reading they take up to 8% for sending 200 $.
In my opinion it’s much easier  to rush a existing market than enter a market wich will come in the future (IOTA).

@ lerecidiviste: you will receive some funds

Why guys haven't you submitted your ios app on App Store, or it got rejected?
If yes what was the reason? I haven't checked the source code but they had a reason if they had rejected.
