claynore the v12.5 has some issues with auto fans speed on MSI AB 4.3 with Sapphire R9 290 TriFan,using win8.1 64bit Catalyst16.8.2, the fan speed goes from 70% to 40% while mining, so I wonder if you could do anything for this?
Are the fan issues present in v12.4? Don't think 12.5 gave any noticeable increase in speed so if it fixes the fan issue I'd use it instead. Moreover, I've always heard that Catalyst 15.12 is best for the R9 series when mining ZEC, have you tried using them instead?

https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/amd-radeon-software-crimson-15-12-driver-download.html
The fan speed is fine with 12.4 probably should have something to do with rivatuner and some of the new feature of 12.5 i havent tried 15.12 because it doesnt allow voltage control

What is the recommended processor for mining rigs these days? I have way over powered ones in my older rigs and appreciate suggestions on an intel cpu that will be enough now and going forward.

Keep on using the 12.4. There is no speed difference.

What is the recommended processor for mining rigs these days? I have way over powered ones in my older rigs and appreciate suggestions on an intel cpu that will be enough now and going forward.

Cheapest dual-core Celeron with low power usage you can find is plenty for a mining rig, with VERY RARE exceptions.
I'd even say "single-core" but I don't remember the last time I saw a new single-core CPU for sale, don't think anyone makes them any more.
I've got a 3 card R9 290 rig mining ETH on a machine with a Sempron 145 and the only time I notice that the CPU is slow is when it's doing DAG files (LINUX, but I could never get genoil to compile on that machine so it's still running qtminer and rock solid about it - later testing of genoil vs qtminer on a different machine didn't show a significant speed difference anyway, just faster DAG file generation but HAVE to redo the DAG file on every boot).

More than around 300 h/s on a R9 280x seems to require a BIOS mod, as 300 is the best I've managed out of my pair with 1100/1250 (my cards won't do 1500 memory clock at all, and anything other than 1250 gave lower hashrate).
Gigabyte Windforce cards (3 fan versions) running 12.4

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

I think the 280X is only good for ZEC mining now.

I have a question. I am running 12.5 and for some reason it will detect 6 GPU in startup of miner but only 5 when mining.

I have 3 x Pro-duo (6x Fury) on BTC Pro mother's.

FOR RENT.

-old

Or lower intensity

Or lower mem/core clock

Or a power issue.

That's about it.

FOR RENT.

I  had this problem once. I changed the Gpus riser and it fixed it.
There can be many reasons though..

Hello guys,
I have problem with my rig. Several days ago Claymore zcash miner began crashing. I get message: GPU 1 hangs in OpenCl call, exit. And after that miner freezes. What can I do to solve this problem?

I had once with my 4rd gpu which is a r9 270. the other 3 gpus are r9280x with no issues.
When I inspect the rig carefully, I saw that the power cable to te r9 270gpu (a single 6pin socket with converter from molex power socket) is changed color and when I pull it out, one of the pins was burnt. and the molex power cable from the psu had burns too. I changed the cable from the psu, thanks to the modular psu cabling. Bought another converter from molex to 6pin pci-e power and reconnect everything. it's working without issues now.

Check the power cables and power.

hey guys, I normally use sapphire rx 470/480 cards....I have a chance to grab a few Gigabyte RX 480 8GB but have no idea how they compare to the Saphhire cards in regards to hash and power draw.

Would really appreciate some help.

Would rather get those cards then 570/580.

Thanks

In regards to hash and power draw, there is little difference between the brands. Every card is different.

No. You can not mine using an NVIDIA gpu with claymore zcash miner. This miner is for AMD cards only.
