I don't see the point of passive cooling given that the fans on the 750Ti cards are some of the quietest out there.

Passive cooling of cards generally is for sound sensitive environment such as Music Production. Though they go as far as full passive to everything including CPU.

That said... it was more of an experiment to see if one could play a modern game on a passively cooled card. It's akin to mining for the fun of it or intellectual curiosity, instead of for profit (you know who you all are Grin )

I will try it in solo... may-be a little in pool... just in case it's the new maxcoin... (well we know this won't happen since they don't have an exchange yet...)
hope they'll get a full wallet working on day one on windows 8 (I only got mine working for maxcoin last weekend...)

So how many of us are going to try and jump on this new coin?

I might be interested simply due to new coin hype, but this won't be another MAX release.

The reasons MAX went so crazy were:
1. The original difficulty set for CPU miners that got heavily trumped by a last minute CUDAMiner build (weee!) without a corresponding AMD build. Leaving the majority of heavy scrypt miners out in the cold.
2. Mt. Gox closed withdrawals of BTC causing a lot of people to panic sell and drop the price of BTC.
3. Dropping price of BTC combined with fiat being an unfriendly environment at that time cause Alt Cryptos to rise.
4. Max being heavily hyped by a well known and respected individual became especially prized.
5. Profit

We won't have 1 as AMD has a faster miner for sha-3 currently, we 2 through 4 because BTC is currently on the irse due to Mt.Gox dying and BTC in a recovery/stable state again.

So we are just left with "new release" hype which CAN cause a bit of a bump in Alt to BTC rate for a few days making it a more profitable choice for a few days at least, but nothing like MAX.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=489172.0

Who's getting on Helix Coin with me at launch? Goes live tomorrow 3pm EST. It's a SHA3 coin so we might have a similar repeat with what happened with MAX and cudaminer Cheesy

I may give this one a shot - Am on Mint right now, and occasionally Black. But Mint is getting hard to mine (halving in next few blocks too). So I'm looking for something to make a quick bit on. 502 is launching tomorrow as well.

i am all set for some helix action pre reg'ed at a pool .bat made and shortcut created just whating for launch lol im like a shark reacting the the sent of blood

Here's a noob question that my google-foo doesn't seem to be able to help with. How in the heck (with any given coin) do you figure out what the main server/ports are to Solo mine? I would like to try this on a new coin for the first ~1-2 hrs, cause I like the lottery aspect of it! lol! That's how I got my first 96 Max Coins, and it was kind of a rush. Luckily somebody posted a how-to for max, and listed server/ports - but I never see these listed in the launch pages of the coins.

TIA!  Smiley
The wallet runs a server (server=1 in conf file) on your computer (localhost or 127.0.0.1) or local network on the port you choose (rpcport=).
Now you can also check on which port it runs by default using the task manager and resource monitor.

Thank you.  Smiley

Also, Christian, how's that nVidia engineer code coming along?

committed to github, for the k and t kernels. It works best with high lookup gaps such as 5, 6, 7. So the largest benefit is achieved with the big irons, aka GTX 780, GTX Titan, GTX 780 Ti, GTX Titan Black

my 750 Ti's only jumped from 3.2 kHash to 3.4 kHash

let's see what happens when I deploy this to my 3x 780Ti or 3x ASUS MARS Rigs. hehe

anyone getting better results?

Christian, did you give a second thought to MYR? This is the coin with multiple algorithms running at the same time. A standalone miner w/source code was just posted for the one algorithm that is currently CPU only (groestl). Me smells an opportunity to sneak in with a CUDA blast! Smiley

Maybe I'm just being optimistic though, have no clue if 'groestl' would work out to be GPU friendly or not. The just posted x64 miner is netting me 265kh/s per thread on some old Xeon, and that is some 8x faster than what the wallet miner was reaching.

Sorry if being pushy. Just feel as though there's an opportunity for us to stand out as there is no AMD support for this one yet.
Cheers! Smiley

Edit: Here's the post with the standalone miner source & binary links.

I achieved about the same with the K kernel when I tested this.

Let me try with some code compiled for sm_50 instead of sm_35...

I will surely join in! Btw is anyone trying EXEcoin right now? Am fighting to get optimum cudaMiner results with this coin...

I am new to vertcoin mining. I was just wondering if anyone can help me out with my .bat file for optimal performance. I use two evga 780 acx. Here is my current bat file. i get around 445kh/s combined but it craps out after about an hour into mining. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

could this be a profitable scrypt coin to mine? Whaddyathink

https://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/pair/aur/btc/poloniex/10-days

Half of the coins will be given to Icelanders in some kind of "air drop" action, where you can register with your Icelandic SSN and receive a personal share. The other half of the coins can be mined.

-L 0 is not a legal argument. My validity checking is poor, so cudaminer doesn't complain.

-L 1 means "no lookup gap", but you might as well leave the option away, as -L 1 is the default.

does it mean all of these algorithms have to run on CUDA, or any one algorithm can be run on CUDA?
I am not too fond of porting over a bunch of algorithms to CUDA.

Anyway, I want to try m myself at blake256 first as this shouldn't be any harder than Keccak, which I did in 24 hours.

Ok, got my parts in and my initial 2 GIGABYTE GV-N75TOC-2GI GTX 750 Ti's in, and have everything up and running. So far I am only managing to get ~280 kHash out of each one. Running Windows 7 64 with latest Nvidia drivers and latest cudaminer.

My launch config is -m0 -l T5x24 -I 0 -C 1 -H 1

Tried different values for m, C and H and no difference. I am also running a slight +50 core and +300 memory overclock. I was hoping to see the 320 kHash everyone else seems to be getting but running out of ideas. Any insight or ideas of things to try would be appreciated.

My launch config is -m0 -l T5x24 -I 0 -C 1 -H 1

upper case I is not legal, or not the intended option. -C 1 is ignored by the T kernel.

does it crash when going above +50 MHz overclock?
