Seems this just doesn't add up a bit with Yifu's words at the Bitcoin Conference 2013 about "SMT machine is withheld at customs"  

It was more than a month since the last update was issued at May, 2.

Let me repeat what you've said: Somebody will invest +9 figures in BTC ASIC and then destroy it's own investment? Why bother to manufacture ASIC, why not burn money instead in nice beach-fire? There is 0 logic in your reasoning.

If somebody makes new powerful ASIC, let's say by using the chip nm technology reduced to 1/4 of the current one, he can realistically make enough mining power to control 51%. What would you do if you were that person? Distribute new THs's to divergent mining pools, mine honestly and dominate the market, ofc. That way you'll maximize your investment, not by destroying BTC.
