I'd like to point out that Sweden is a cold country. I have no idea if "cheaper heating" rather than "profit" has been considered a goal for a bitcoin miner by kncminer, but it's something other people have been talking about for years now.

The idea is to harvest the heat produced by the bitcoin miner and use it to heat your house during fall, winter and spring. If you consider the mining device more of a heating device, it doesn't have to bring a profit on it's own to be profitable. The cost of running the mining device (electricity - bitcoin profits) can be less than the cost of alternative ways of heating. However, not many houses in Sweden are directly heated by electricity - district heating and heat pumps is quite common, so there still has to be something like a 50% return on the electricity cost.

This kind of use could prolong the "profitable" life time of a bitcoin miner for several years.

Silly... I don't pay any electricity costs, as well as internet, TV and heating is included in my apartment fee. Tongue

Don't... it sucks here. cold, dark, crappy shops that close at 8:00pm, people behaving like idiots etc. etc.
You're better off buying an apartment and only use it as a server room.  Grin

In the end we have decided to open up to allow PayPal payments as well. The main reason for this was to allow people to enter the market. Rather than to only cater for people who have managed to trade or mine the appropriate amount of coins already.

AWESOME Decision !!

Ok, today I met orsoc CEO Johan personally and I can confirm 100% this is not a scam

He is interested in bitcoin and knows a lot about it. He acknowledged that they have been discussing this product offering with kncminer for weeks and there will be news published later this week

They will have a more concrete technical specification for the product soon

That's nice and all, but their published time schedule is just not believable.
Correction, it's crap.

As I said, unless they are already using someone else's ASIC chips, in 2.5 months they will have NOTHING.

If you want your mining devices to help heat your house just put then in or near the air intake for your heating system assuming you have an air heating system.
If you use hydraulic heating you could get excellent performance by using a component built liquid cooling system and have the out put heat exchanger built inside the cold part of you hydraulic heating. You wouldn't want that house heating liquid in your rigs but having a liquid to liquid heat exchanger could work well - if you want to go to all that effort.

I like the name "bitcoin borker". Even if they don't call it that - we should give their devices that nic name!

Good to see people are actually get through to PEOPLE who can at least confirm their intent in person. So maybe we can just take their company from scam status to vapor ware.

They won't need to take one satoshi in pre-orders, for all they'll have to do is build the thing, post viable proof that the thing exists, and like a swarm of angry locust buyers will be sending bitcoins.

They can not justify asking for pre-orders to know how many units to build. They can't use the pre-order moneys to further the development of the units. Once truly available, they would have no problem selling every unit they build, thus requiring 100% payment up front is not needed.

If they want to still have a queuing system in place, require a credit card or take a nonrefundable token amount, say $10 USD, to be used toward the purchase price.

Requiring 100% payment three weeks shy of a projected delivery date from an unknown company doesn't even begin to make sense. Paying an unknown entity upfront makes even less sense.

  • Build it!
  • Prove it exist!
  • Sell every unit you build!
  • Profit!

Anything short of the above is clearly BULLSHIT!

KNCminer, I have a question I was hoping you could answer: I signed up for the initial 1-500 preorder, and received a confirmation email with order number, and everything seems OK so far. I have seen you say that people should register at your site to receive further information about the preorders, but I have not done this, I only filled out the preorder form and placed the order. Am I still OK to receive this information or is it mandatory to sign up on the site? With all due respect I would rather not sign up if there is no reason for it. The information provided in the preorder form should be enough. Please advise if I need to sign up on the site for my order to be valid.

Interested in the response to this, was wondering the exact same thing.

Hi again all,

There has been a lot of talk in this forum thread and we simply don't have time to reply to every post (we are quite busy) but this one seemed genuine enough and I thought needed clarification.

On our site www.kncminer.com there are a few ways to get on the mailing list, The first one is to register for a pre-order and tick the box for the mailing list, The second is to add your address to the mailing list only.

Either way you will receive the same information. The only difference is that the pre-order registrants have a place in the queue when we launch the products. (which they don't have to use, as anyone can just not progress their registration to a full order and give up their queue place if they so wish)

I hope this helps anyone who is confused. We will try to make these things clearer in the future.

Oh man how did i miss it they actually responded! Really!!.. I had already dismissed this thread. Maybe i was mistaken lets see!

KNC, I think a lot of people are genuine .. i think they are not understanding the minimal dialog from you guys.

A bit of dialog would go a long way! As an example youre pre-order has an entry for how many?? Its really impossible to know how many to order or reserve without details on GH/s, power consumption, stack-able design, upgradable, warranty, payment option, shipping time, support, standalone? or pc required? .. if so cross platform?? Linux, mac, windows support?

Outside of that people want to know what foundry, how far along in the process you are, estimated shipping date,  more info on youre company & youre background... and so forth. Silence breeds doubt, concern and fear and with thousand on the line that is NOT what you want youre potential customers feeling.

I think you will be surprised the kind of feedback you would get if you were more transparent about youre state of development and youre product.

Right now all we know is you are making a miner in Sweden. We dont know anything else .. its just 30 pages of non-sense. If you updated this thread regularly and dont alienate youre customers i think you will find a healthy dose "genuine" feedback!

Most scams are blatant and they have certain traits the trigger red flags amongst customer base and one of those traits is SILENCE!

The Asic miner industry currently has two sides or types of company's in the market. They are a clear contrast to one another.

AVALON   |     BFL

^^ What side of the line do you think youre company is on right now? I would try everything in my power to be on the left side. If you venture to far to the right, you will permanently paralyze youre brand.

I think im just saying what alot of people are thinking and we would love if we have competition in the market place..  but i think i speak for everyone when i say we have had our share of scams and with the difficulty rising and the potentials for return on investment getting thinner everyday we just cant take anyone who is NOT at the minimum dialoging with customers seriously. Ultimately its a preview of whats to come after you take our $ so its best to set a standard for yourself so that people are confident in placing thousand in youre hands!

Either way good luck! "A genuine registered potential customer."

They are setting their standards! If they don't have the time now to quell concerns, how the fuck are they going to have time later to address issues when they're supposedly going to be in full production.

If they can understand this simple concept, then fuck them, with same going for all those that send payment to them and later come here a cryin' with all their woes.

Guys - chill. All they have done so far is announce they are working on something, and given a mailing list to subscribe for updates. They haven't given us any specific details yet and aren't even accepting any money or BTC yet. Their product isn't complete, but they are definitely known to be working with a reputable company on building an ASIC and are not a simple scam.

Until they start taking money, or have made concrete promises (BFL lol) they have done nothing wrong and the ball is in their court. All we need to do is wait until they announce something further - maybe they won't make it, maybe they'll make stupid promises (BFL again), maybe their chips won't work whatever - we don't know yet. Until then though, they have done nothing wrong.

Give them some space, then see what they make, then decide if you want to buy it or not.

What part of beak or no beak are you missing!! Im a god dam rubber penguin on ice... im chill, im chill !!

They came with the geniune yada yada.. so i was just passing the grey poupon back..

This is what happens when youre on the BFL side of the industry for too long!!

They are setting their standards! If they don't have the time now to quell concerns, how the fuck are they going to have time later to address issues when they're supposedly going to be in full production.

If they can't understand this simple concept, then fuck them, with same going for all those that send payment to them and later come here a cryin' with all their woes.

^^ Keep in mind he is genuine too!!!! I dont know Phinnaeus Gage at all but ive never seen him speak out of turn or from left field .. He didnt enter the conversation this way! If you dont want a sentiment like this to be permanent then read my previous post again and again untill it hits home! This is what happens when you send out paychecks with zero balances.

If not well see you after 30 more pages of ...

"who are you guys. are you legit. wait are you sure you know electronics. whats youre expierience, you sure youre in sweden. Can i send over a cabby to verify, wait you guys had time to do lunch with a random forum member but cant take 2 minutes every other few days to answer some questions.. whats youre VAT #, wait a minute arent you that guy from that tv show.."

Ya want 30 more pages of this kinda crap than carry on.. See you on the right side of the industry!

Beak or no beak! Any questions!?

They are 3 types of people in this thread, 1) Those who do not have an ASIC, FPGU and Gpu card Miner, this group of people should be given priority, 2) The second group are the ones who order the butterfly miner but received nothing, 3) Those who already have the Avalon and probably even a fpga or gpu, this group of people couldn't be bother because they are already making coins everyday. Remember johnyj, he already has a Avalon 80gh/s on full blast since February, so probably he couldn't bother asking CEO Johan on the status... or maybe he already work out something with the ceo??

I guess I fall in the #1 category, for I don't mine nor intend to. The reason for being here is, quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of all the scams taking place surrounding Bitcoin. It amazes me how something so wonderful could be taken up by a small group of individuals, destroying the very fabric of which is being design to better their lives.

Madness!

Mining is a tad too technical for my taste, coupled with the time it would take me away from my barn wood business. I have sold some leather items and purchased a few coins, slowly building up a nice nest egg. Unfortunately, I opted to store them all on InstaWallet, where Boussac was kind enough to stick it up my ass for inquiring about a police report. In essence, I'm now Bitcoin-poor after champion InstaWallet when Davout put me at ease that all is swell at IWland.

I never lost bitcoins via any other service, although I'm out $20K+ indirectly due to the Bitcoinica fiasco, all because I turned one guy onto Bitcoin here in Sandwich, whereupon he opted to have his daughter invest in Bitcoin via Bitcoinica after me assuring him that they seemed up-and-up. I went overboard in my postings afterward due to that episode causing my ignore to turn orange.

Yet, here I am still trying to make sure nobody gets scammed, but at a heavy toll.

Gage you old bastard! I'm showing my gf's 60 year old father how to mine. You can do it! If you can open a wallet, you can sign up for a pool and run cgminer
