Have any of you found a pool which actually pays out within 5-10% of the profitability calculators? I have tried four of the popular FTC pools and they are only paying between 1/2 - 2/3 of the profitability estimates. At that point is is no more profitable than LTC.
What profitability calculator are you using? What profitability calculator are you using? and how long are you staying in each pool? I was in a pool for almost 24 hrs getting pplns and another for about 12 hr using pps. I have also tried two other pools for a few hours. Nothing close to estimates. I'm back to mining LTC because of it.

What's up with the transaction fee? I've transferred Litecoin without a transaction fee, but apparently the Feathercoin GUI adds a mandatory transaction fee of at least .1 FTC. So I'm trying to transfer the .08 FTC in my wallet, and I can't do it! So what I want to know is why this fee for FTC and not LTC, what is going on with this, and who actually gets this transaction fee? Looking at the transaction logs isn't giving me any insight.
BTW, CNC has the same .1 transaction fee.

TX Fees go to the block that processes the transaction. It is there to prevent spam in the blockchain. You can remove the fee and recompile the client, but that transaction might, or might not, get processed.

Hi All, A few messages have come in from people asking about what is happening in the world of Feathercoin so I thought I'd post here. I would like to say that I am fully committed to Feathercoin and view it as a long term project. I have left my position as Head of ICT in one of the Oxford University colleges to pursue this new currency full time. I have been a long time supporter of cryptocurrencies and am thrilled to be putting my time fully into them. I have enough Litecoin to see me through, I used to mine Litecoin when it was as easy as Feathercoin is to mine now. I am keen to make Feathercoin work for the next generation of crypto coin supporters. ClientOn the client front I am continuing to look at ways of improving the Feathercoin network, stability and client. This includes a minor update later on today with double the amount of DNS Seed nodes. These are the nodes hard coded into the client that helps it find the network. More of these adds better resilience. I will also add another checkpoint. I am looking around for safe features that could be included in the client right now. Perhaps a tool that will allow you to get details about the network without having to run a hundred commands or go to an external website. If you have any ideas please send me a PM. Merchant adoptionWe have members who are contacting current merchants and service providers that currently use cryptocurrenices to introduce them to Feathercoin. We will see if there is anything we can do to help them to include it in their service. The target is to contact 1,000 businesses over the next 40 days. This is achievable and should yield great results. Press packThere is a press pack that will be going out to introduce Feathercoin to a larger audience along with high quality vectors graphics designed by the community here. WebsiteThe official forum is getting a styled to be inline with the rest of the website. Hosting is now being run in conjunction with Dreamwatcher and for that we get to use his excellent Feathercoin explorer which is also going to be styled like the rest of the site. We do have future plans for expanding the tools available on the website but will give more details when we get nearer to them. Other updatesJustabitoftime has put out a similar update over at the Feathercoin Forum. Head over there if you want to read more and perhaps contribute to the work we are undertaking. http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?topic=262

On the “get merchants to accept Feathercoin” topic: I'm working on a little adult comics shop (finally got the Bitpay Zen Cart plugin to work) and want to accept Feathercoins, among other alt coins, also. The problem is to match up customers with payments. A service that takes care of that, maybe kind of a online wallet with API, would be great. A Zen Cart plugin would be da hit, at least for me . Maybe something like a paypal light (no exchange capabilities needed) that simply ties payments to the email address of the customer.

Kind of stuff I want to hear Anyways I think some people are trying to work on that, don't know how long before one does come out though. Although a little more tedious, if you would like to start accepting it before an API comes out for it, you can do it by the transaction ID. If you have them right click on their transaction and click "Show transaction ID" you can match it up with the ones you received.

At the moment I require customers to fill in a form with their payment details, including the FTC address they use for payment. Using the transaction ID seems to be a better idea, I will give it a try

Hey, is there a need for another FTC p2pool ? I don't mind setting one up , stable provider , low latency etc, if the network supports it (i.e. getting more than a few kH)

OK, FC still has some support. But there is major problem. Basically no matter what you do, people will still see feathercoin as litecoin's clone. Any ideas on changing that?

can only change that over time. Some people still view litecoin as a BTC clone. No way around that.

can someone explain to me why the retarget time is so high? it seems everyone is jumping ship due to current diff of 188 and expected diff of 50. why mine at 188 when it will become 50 later. that will ultimately change the value of each coin. better to mine other like litecoin
also isnt the target time pr block 2,5min? now its average 9min.
all this factors shows that the network hash has gone from 5500 to 2500(the big starthype at btc-e) and now from 2500 to 1300 due to difficulty variation.

re-target is high because hashpower went way down, people mined cnc after ftc and probably now mining ltc
