Guess most traders sit in Ripple/XRP and other alts. Time for a big shakeout there.

It seems clearer and clearer by minute that bitcoin has run it's course. Time to retire and leave the track for the new arrivals!

Yeah I agree. In fact I will buy all the BTC you have for $1 each. Best be quick, this could be your final offer.

Korea prices for BTC are at 22-23k... although coinmarketcap excludes that too (asterisk).

9   Bithumb   BTC/KRW   $219,098,000   * $22,052.30   1.38%   Recently
46   Korbit   BTC/KRW   $76,213,200   * $23,244.90   0.48%   Recently
70   Coinone   BTC/KRW   $46,977,700   * $22,992.90   0.30%   Recently

The question is why would one exclude korean volume instead of factoring it in, with a corresponding percentage to their volume (versus the global volume). As long as the trades aren't zero-fee trades, the volume should be accurate.

Because it's a hermetically sealed market so no one from the outside can access it. That makes it irrelevant to the rest of the markets.

If they had CoinmarketcapKorea in addition that would make sense.

Isnt it suspect that the whole cryptos crash all at once? I think there is something big behind. You remember how it was back in 2013 with Gox? Nobody thought about a price manipulation by bots und and people were screaming Moon. I have a similair feeling about these complete Crypto crashes. This is the 3rd time in 3 weeks. I dont believe in "it's christmas, it's first month of the year and people need Cash" bla bla... There is some huge manipulation going on and it wont end good.

It's been going on since Gox opened. It's ended pretty well so far.

"crashing" should be reserved for situations where main supports are broken. Or else it's a only a correction.

As much as I can remember when btc crash alts crash harder most of the times.
To me it seems that alts pump mostly when the btc action gets boring.

Just few minutes ago crypto currencies especially bitcoin was tackled on our local television. I find it annoying when someone is talking one-sided. That bitcoin may drop fast citing an example if someone bought it at $20,000. So called expert didn't even mentioned those people who bought it at very low price in the past

Media have been scaring people to stay out of crypto since the beginning.
In fact if you listened to the media you would be afraid to drink a can of coke, eat a steak, travel on planes, travel in a car, walk down the street or even leave your house.

There is a pattern there.  Wink

Yet here we are almost 15x higher than a year ago. Whilst alts collapse quickly, BTC stays pretty strong in comparison.

If all this FUD is caused by the CMC KRW delisting, that's pretty funny.  Grin

There is no need to use BTC at the subchannel level.  You could have a Tether running at the subchannel level.

Litecoin, Tethers, tabs...

Cracks me up how you core acolytes are always advancing ways to use something other than Bitcoin.

Whatever happened to Risto, BTW?

From what I can gather, he stole everyone's value in that weird alternate reality game of his, and went insane again. Perhaps not in that order. He's been levitating and such. Believes he has a direct conduit to some supreme being somewhat in the judeo-christian mold, but pliable to his personal desires.

Too bad - he was quite the asset to the community when he was lucid.

3.  I live my life in containers.  This forum is part of my Bitcoin box.  It is not allowed to touch the other boxes.

it take a lot to let the boxes touch - it would need to be a life changing event.

Interesting perspective. Worthy of ponderation.

Interesting Bitcoin is hanging around 160,000 unconfirmed transactions ... with 3.4 transactions per second coming in.

Does this mean:

3) This is a good sign

If you find the fact that Bitcoin is being used less to be a good sign, then I guess so. Personally, I think usage is a good thing.

Bcash falling at a double rate than the true and only bitcoin is my consolation.

Better yet, Ripple is down 1/3 on the day.

The start of the drop was a also a spike in volume -- on GDAX at least. Volume going down. If this is systemic, we should snap back soon.

Edit: dropping volume was a fake. Dependent clause therefor also suspect. drat.

Isnt it suspect that the whole cryptos crash all at once?

No. While CMC and others display the USD value of the various assets, most of them are fundamentally denominated in BTC. So when BTC gets the sniffles, they all get sick.

Some McAfee fun.

Haha. 'No-body's perfect'
