I used to be very confused about Donald Trump until I realized he is the America most Americans actually want. Democracy is odd.

Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, etc are global platforms, people all over the world use it to discuss freaking everything, including U.S. elections. Better get used to it, because it's not going away, ever. U.S. voters are going to be exposed to opinions of foreigners.

By the way, John Oliver is a foreigner, right?  Roll Eyes

Most commonwealth citizens are initially appalled by American-style DIY healthcare. Watching people die for no good reason probably takes some getting used to.

Watching people die for no good reason probably takes some getting used to.

Here in Brexit Britain they've now set up mobile cinemas in car parks around in the country in anticipation of the dismantling of the NHS.

Each citizen spends several hours a day watching the debilitated being towed out and left on glaciers after 'death committees' have decided they're no longer viable. Slippery devices are attached to one's johnson or minge and you're only allowed out when you signal your approval by sexual arousal.

All collective action toward the public good is for suckers. Your tribe extends to your front door and no further. Whatever.

Google and Amazon etc compete by giving employees not only salaries, but "free" cafeteria food, "free" dental etc.

Rich western countries compete that way too. It's up to each country what kind of "free" benefits like healthcare they should provide.

You don't like "salary+benefits" package, you move to a better country.

From the pool it looks like bears are in the majority. Looks like it's time for the bull market to start. Interesting days.

Corporations are soulless mummies mandated to maximize shareholder profit. Imagining market forces will manage humans with anything other than complete indifference is nuts.

Just everybody get rich and move to a seastead then. Good plan.

True, just give them a flag and a dose of x-factor twice a week, and the Sheeple will never even notice!

America's health businesses have got it nailed. Not only do health providers charge the population, they also make the American government spend more than double per capita what other governments spend for the 'free' stuff.

That's an extremely impressive trick.

Corporations are in the business of fleecing people. It stands to reason.

I don't think John Oliver is coming back to UK... nice HBO salary far outweighs the negatives.

Google and Amazon etc compete by giving employees not only salaries, but "free" cafeteria food, "free" dental etc.

Offset by setting up shop in the nation's most expensive cities, where housing is completely unaffordable, no free parking, high food/drink costs outside of work, highest city and state taxes, etc. And talk of adding a 'head tax'.

So no, not really "free". They get their pound of flesh one way or another.

Hey, live in San Fran, make north of $80K/year, and you can.... live in a van down by the river!
