.....College is a huge scam.   ....

Well admittedly, I went to college and learned how to make money selling weed.... So there's that...

Dunno about you peasants, but I studied physics.... 100% worth it.

Any degenerated "college" with imaginary courses like gender studies is a scam without a doubt. Thats why you study at european universities.

Even my friends with "valuable" degrees can't find good jobs.  People are being mislead and told to go into STEM but the entire job market is in a race to the bottom because of globalization.

BTW whats the deal with the hats?

College is a huge scam.  People are going into debt for thousands of dollars for a useless piece of paper.  You can already learn everything for free with all the resources out there.  It's quite funny, the wealthiest people I know didn't even attend college.

This may be off topic but the majority of wealth being created is going straight to the top.  We are more productive than ever but wages have been stagnant.  Younger generations can barely even afford to live with the rising housing and medical costs.  Capitalism is going to implode on itself.

Maybe it is a scam for some occupations, but I wouldn't want my doctor to have "learned it on the internetz". Sure, that's not what you ment but...

I heard of bitcoin in 2011-12 for the first time while it was largely associated with silk roads. Living hand to mouth at the time raising children and didn't have 2 nickels to rub together.
Then in late 2016 I met a guy who had loads of mining rigs living in Bali. He told me and everyone else he was processing data for large companies. No mention of coins.  I discovered what he was really doing some months later and it was the shroud of secrecy around his "business" that led me to investigate and eventually discover the little known fundamentals behind bitcoin.
After much research it became clear to me that I'd found a peaceful revolutionary tool that aligned with and greatly enhanced my activism. Subsequent bull run of 2017 concreated this.

That sounds nice and all until we find out bitcoin was created by the government/ illumanti/ CIA/NWO so they could test out a world currency.

I'm surprised you nutballs don't think the the whole universe is just a model created by TPTB. Perhaps your very brain and sense of identity is the product of the gov, like you're one of the replicants from Blade Runner.

Yeah, this just needed to be quoted again. Smiley

Holy moley Bitcoinland.

I've been without the internet since going out to the jungle a few days ago. Dude was working on fixing the service as I was leaving to go to the city for my delayed dental implant surgery today. Just woke up from the aftereffects from the anesthesia and logged on at the hotel.

Yowzer. Seems we had the big dip some people were waiting for... currently $5638USD/$7422CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

I'm glad I was able to pay for my surgery (around 3 coins) while I could still get over $8kCAD/btc including fees. Got an extra kiss when the dentist offered to wait until May for the $8.7kUSD that I was going to pay him with one of my credit cards  that was refused, despite having a $10k+CAD credit balance.

As is it, I now have 16 fresh new implants in my face and instead of having to sell some Bitcoin to pay off the credit card when I head back up north, I'll have enough spare cash to buy some coins while the price is still low, and I won't have to sell any more coins until May when I finally get zirconia "Hollywood" teeth. Life is good.

Unfortuneately it seems I'm eliminated from Micgoosens' bottom-price-by-the-new-year game. Oh well. Win some lose some.

Hope they put you on some good meds!

I got home friday night to this crap and wish I had stayed at the casino.

No way I'm catching up on this thread (50+ PAGES!!!) before the casino again tomorrow.

Anyway back to football.

And does anyone have a link to a good synopsis of the bch retard-fest?

Hahah! gnight. Smiley

I would like to hear people’s stories about how they first heard about Bitcoin ?

I read about it in Wired Magazine in early 2013.  I was familiar with gold farming in WOW so it didn’t seem too outlandish.  It took a second mention in the media in November 2013 for me to pay attention and find this forum on google.

Somewhere in here in 2008, I can't find a way to search the site it's been changed so much.

Too much wasted time, done searching. Smiley

These days college is just motivation to learn something. You could just as quickly learn everything on your own, but most "kids" don't have enough self-motivation to do it, so college is a good choice.

I enjoyed college. Lots of free time, learned a lot about Mathematics, and met a good bunch of interesting people. That said, it left a lot to be desired and if life was just about money I would've wasted my time there.

I'd go as far as to say that you could learn things much faster on your own than in college. The motivation point strikes true though.

My mate suggested me to get into bitcoin in the end of 2012, though it seemed too "niché" back then and I didn't take his advice, forgot about it totally. Had pretty busy life in general that time so had no time to really think it over. In late 2013, just before the Mt.Gox fiasco, I stumbled randomly on a bitcoin article, which grew some interest in me. Didn't buy any yet though, just started keeping an eye on the price and where it could go. Found this forum too, but came here only to read without an user. Then came the big Gox pump, when it really got my interest. Started buying around $600 down to $200's, got my stack pretty big and was planning to firmly HODL. In 2015, real life problems hit me straight in the face and had to sell almost everything (the amount was in 3 digits), leaving me just with 1BTC, which I sold in 2016 as I had lost faith in many things, didn't keep up with the price much anymore either.

Got my shit together and got back in the game in September 2017 after the summer pump, bitcoin came all over the news then as well. Had almost forgotten about it completely, guess I was still missing my precious coins from 2015. Started buying alts at first, with some minor trading back and forth and made pretty good profits with them. I was still more into alts when I started being more active here and registered this account, JJG was actually the one who kicked some sense into me and suggested I'd stop the alt nonsense. Been accumulating slowly since then, won't make the same mistakes like in the past. Now I'd move back with my parents before I sold my coins Cheesy

Well I'll be danged...
My whole family are engineers on my dads side.
I myself went to college sold weed and ended up dropping out (math major)then getting a job in manufacturing engineering (no degree).
Guess what I do now? Mostly CNC programming and tool design but I also educate noobie college grad engineers that come to work
for my company . Some of the stuff I see them do just boggles my mind. They obviously don't have a clue.
Experience is far more valuable IMO.
