Biggest failed calls of the year:

1)  When gold was $1050 and Martin Armstrong said it was going to "drop below $800 into the abyss", meaning he told everyone to sell the exact bottom in gold to the dollar.

2)  When bitcoin was $20,000 and Sidhujag said it was going to $100,000

This is hurting badly already.

I’ve watched my bitcoin stash worth go from close to 1 million GBP to well, you can figure it out from that.
Of course it hurts.....badly.

I feel stupid for not selling at the ATH but we’ve all been through this before & we rocketed from $160 to $20,000.

It will happen again?

If it doesn’t RIP to me.

Quote
Short sellers make VW the world's priciest firm

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Volkswagen (VOWG.DE) briefly became the world’s biggest company by market value on Tuesday, as short sellers caught betting on a price drop with borrowed stock scrambled to find shares after a buying spree by Porsche (PSHG_p.DE)...

Short sellers desperate to close their positions paid as much as 1,005 euros a share during the session following Sunday’s news that there was less than 6 percent of VW voting stock still floating in the market.

...

Porsche denied it was manipulating the market and said that the market had mixed up cause with effect.

“We vehemently reject the accusation of share price manipulation,” a spokesman for Porsche said. “The ones responsible are those that speculated with huge sums of money on a falling Volkswagen share price.”

The “mother of all short squeezes,” as one analyst phrased it, led to an investor outcry alleging that they were duped by Porsche.

...

This meant they were trading at around 63 times expected earnings for 2009, at a massive premium to rivals such as Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) and Daimler (DAIGn.DE).

“The problem is, from a fundamental point of view, shares are really overvalued. But when the short squeeze comes to an end, there are not enough shares available to bring the share price back down,” said one Frankfurt-based analyst.

...

Now that's an interesting story. Hope something like this happens in bitcoin soon lol  Grin

Very nice! I like your hat, hat. (Also I'm very proud that my hat is featured on your hat)

By the way, I saw your Hodlercoaster tattoo back when you first got it, but back then I was mostly a lurker here, so I never did tell you how much I like it. So, I really like it. I myself have no ink on my body, but if I ever do get any, it's likely to be something bitcoin related and awesome like that Cool

I hope that dumbass Ver dumps every coin he has during this and watches us buy them up until the price is back to $20k. I’d love to see him washing tourist dishes on the island of Nevis or St Kitts.

how big of an idiot can one be .... to sell all of the coins into a complete disaster... gotta say the man is committed to his SCAM coin
If somehow he could do the impossible and pull off a flippening he would be insane rich and that's his end goal it's just obvious to everyone it's impossible but he doesn't want to believe.

This is really hard to watch.

And to be honest: Who would buy in a market like that.

We are constantly falling since January. You basically know, if you buy now, it will be worth less in one month.

You dont know. Impossible what will be a month form now.  What we do know is that it cant be drastically different from right now and also it is much much much better time to buy then in Dec 2017.

Anybody willing to call what we’ll bottom at?

I hope this doesn’t drag on for 6 months. Let’s just fucking get it over with.

After bottom we will see sideways. Big question is when we will reach bottom.  Right now is pretty clear that recovery cant start before mid 2019. v

Then you had some more than me, but it's basically the same.... hundreds of thousands of euros of paper profit vanishing in front of my eyes.

In comparison to what has already vanished the remaining feels so small....

OTOH, I wasn't expecting to to sell in this decade. I will stick to my plan.

Hurts badly thou.

It hurts a lot. I must admit I am worrying if I’ve literally fucked my entire life up.

I always said I’d wait until about a year after the halving so that’s what I’m going to stick to.

really? It does not make much sense considering bakkt (physically settled futures) and ETF.
Typically, ETF would be the beginning of a new bull (as in gold).

Well, if ETF is not approved by Feb, then maybe mid 2019 makes sense, otherwise, NO.

To me, btc (as a new, better version of gold) was always a hedge to the hyperinflation possibility.
It still is.

Good news for you is if you had $1m worth at $20k peak you don't need to worry about buying more during bear season. Just sit and wait to see whether you will be a millionaire in next 3 years or just a could have been millionaire. Either way it's just money dude, it's not life or death, worst case gotta keep working like all the other slobs.

Someone is attacking the sv bitcoin trash variant, causing a re-org.
Legacy markets are also pretty rekt.
We are not alone.
You may now return to your weeping and gnashing of teeth.
