I can't believe any Bitcoiner would use some sleazy corporate browser like Chrome or IE when there's an honest open-source option in Firefox.

If you GPU mine, does it matter if your computer is connected to your browser via wifi or cable?

And does anyone know anything about the OS called PureOS. Are there any issues with that OS that you know of?

I'd say a cable can't hurt. It really depends on the bandwidth required. Not sure GPU mining can actually manage without a solid ethernet cable. A full (non mining) bitcoin node would at least choke a bit on wifi.
For authoritative answers, you'd better wait for one of our miners to chime in.

That's the same as two brand new top of the range lambos! You could have had one to keep in the garage to use like a Sunday best suit, and another as a day to day runabout car. If someone keyed the paintwork of the runabout lambo you wouldn't be too bothered because you would still have another mint condition one in the garage.

I use Opera and I'm quite happy with it.

I haven't used Opera since the days of Win95 but I liked it back then.

I don't trust anything from an American corporation since they all were taken over by Prism.

When I can't use Win7 any more, I guess I'll have to choose a Linux distro.

I'm surprised more people didn't stop to ask themselves why Microsoft was so eager to shove Win10 down everyone's throat.

Not only were they giving away their flagship product for free, they made it hard to avoid it. Around the same time they also started giving their #2 product MS Office away too.

Makes you wonder where their revenues are coming from.

It's not just MS. Apple and Google are just as bad, if not worse.

 Yeah I know...
I tried to switch several times to Mozilla but I needed to be able to magnify the screen so I could see it and the zoom feature in Firefox was less than adequate... some things on the page would resize; some things would not but in IE, it was always perfect resizing of all elements.  I know Mozilla has fixed that ctrl+ thingy but old habits die hard.

Cable is always the best choice but, if you are mining to a pool and your wifi is stable probably there will be no significant difference. I was mining for some time with an antminer S3 I added an antenna over wifi and it worked well. There is very little traffic if you are pool mining and a few ms of additional latency are not that important. Running a full node would be a much different matter.

Never used PureOS. I usually prefer vanilla debian or any other widely used distribution so that any new vulnerabilities are published/patched soon enough.

I'm thinking the 78 fib line around 17,900. There should be significant resistance around 18K. If it can break through decisively, then who knows. A continuation of the exponential trend would suggest around 80K in Jan/Feb.

How do you decide where the lowest line starts?

Although I have a very basic understanding of Fibonacci sequences, I never figured out how people pick the low to start calculating from.

Ok I have to admit my posts have been super bearish and I'm going to change my ways. So here's how it's going to go. Look, this is going up. It's going straight up. Nobody is ever going to sell again. There will never be another dip, or another retracement, or another crash. A miner might need to sell like 1 satoshi, that's it. We're going to see an increase at a steady rate of, say, 5% per day. A new ATH will appear at least once per week. We will reach $1,000,000 in no time, and then it'll keep going. There will be no limit because all of us will be hoarding everything except 1 coin. The whole world will have to share the single coin in circulation, which comprises all of the world's GDP and currency derivatives, and they will be fighting over satoshis. I haven't used Opera since the days of Win95 but I liked it back then.

I've kept on using the original Opera well into my Windows XP years. It used to be the best browser under all aspects. Fast, secure, customizable, dependable, obedient to the user (not to the website).
Unfortunately, they weren't able to maintain their Presto engine anymore, so they switched to Chromium, and now Opera is only a Chrome clone with a difference. I'm still using it on the sites where it works, but most of my browsing is on Firefox these days.

So was mine. But unfortunately my HD crashed and I had to get a new computer fast, and all that was available was computers with Windows 10 preinstalled. I decided to give it a go and I'm regretting it already. You can't disable updates, and I have that weird felling of being spied on all the time, and every now and then the hard drive on C starts for no reason. It changes your settings with every update and it puts back things that you removed.
So I therefore decided to put a new HD in my old computer and now I'm looking for a OS to put on it, that's why I'm asking about PureOS. It seems to be very secure and user friendly, but I would like to here the opinion of someone with actual experience.

The new Windows 10 computer will be used for GPU mining only, let them spy on that if it amuses them.

I was mining for some time with an antminer S3 I added an antenna over wifi and it worked well. Thank you, I will be pool mining and I'm going to do it for fun, not for profits. I only have one cable slot on my router and would prefer to use that for my everyday computer so I will give the wifi a try.
