ANyone know if withdrawls are still working on gox
I initiated a small test bitcoin withdrawal 20 minutes ago and it submitted but the page is stuck on "withdrawing". I don't think the website can talk to the database.

I sold a few at 372.. I liked that price this weekend. Then gox crashed haha..
Shoot me but on the way to the moon there's turbulence, i'm going to try my luck.
Storing BTC value with 3rd parties is risky. Storing BTC value with MtGox is insane. I seem to be getting my prescience back... Sorry PH, I don't think it requires any special powers to realize these two things. ...and yet lots of people still store lots of bitcoins and other money on MtGox. It's really incredible. I just don't understand it. It also doesn't take any special power to realize there are a lot of idiots out there. I agree, it's incredible. I always say that people need to get burned before they learn their lesson, but some people get burned and just keep on doing the same old shit. I was burned once. Bitcoinica got away with 150 of my bitcoins (I understand MtGox is basically holding them hostage), and I consider myself lucky it wasn't much worse than that. I've managed my own bitcoins in my own offline wallets ever since. I understand that bitcoin already attracts people with high risk tolerance, but adding the risk association with MtGox historically adds...again, I just don't understand how people are tolerating that level of risk with the amounts that are sitting on Gox.

It seems like there are enough people on bitstamp who aren't Gox-tards that the price won't go tooooo low. What's the point of using bitstamp if you're just going to panic dump when Gox has a problem?

As a UK guy I'm keeping my holdings as a majority on bitstamp cause I trust the UK way more than Japan to get my money back to some degree should this ever happen And what's the relation between UK and Bitstamp? Bitstamp is based in Reading, UK On one hand if Bitstamp ripped me off I could pay them a visit, but on the other hand the Inland Revenue can get hold of information about any trades that I do there. I like the way that the UK and US governments can't touch BTC-e though because it's in Russia So they moved from Slovenia to UK.

Gox must have so much money now. They shouldn't go broke but that doesn't mean they'll stop being rubbish!

Bitstamp is registered as a limited company in Reading, UK. I'd be surprised if there's anything more than a PO box with their name on it in that place.

I'd rather be safe than sorry. Selling all for now.
Shouldn't you change your name to FiatSeeker then?

Shouldn't you change your name to FiatSeeker then? It could just as easily I suppose. I do seek coins to increase my USD, that is true. Of course, technically, Bitcoin is just as much fiat as a federal reserve note so by that definition, the name Coinseeker is still consistent.

So is this all bullshit? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38711.0Well if you look at our site you probably see it is not like some over-the-night designed system running behind worldpress template. You can also clearly see our company info www.bitstamp.net/about_us/ , company is registered in Slovenia and we are all Slovenian citizens so we are obligated to follow strict laws and not hiding behind some Panama or Cyprus offshore companies. We also work with one of the leading banks in the world Unicredit bank.
We are currently working on some cool new features. I will post all new things here so you can be first to test it. We are always open for new ideas.

In April, Gox had most of the volume. So it was reasonable that a partially-lag-induced panic sell would lead prices on other exchanges down as well.
Now, Gox still has a significant share of volume, but far less than the 80% (lol) they used to brag about. So there is less likelihood of this 80+ minute lag affecting the other exchanges as much as it did in April.

Their bank is in Slovenia (probably favourable banking laws vs uk and usa) but they're a UK company. Europe
