Nope. The key factor was the council of elders.

The state and the people are always in conflict. The state gets too powerful, it becomes tyrannical. The people get too much power, they revolt. The elders sided with the state or the people according to which side was gaining too much power, acting as the ballast of a ship. Something we ought to implement today.

The women were there to breed, as they always have and will be. That is their biological function.

You know of course that the women had the right to speak and be heard in the council of the elders, right?
You know women were considered as equal in ancient Sparta right?
You know it was the women that bread Spartan warriors until a certain age right?

My overall point is what I have already expressed (in Greek & in English).

You do know that they were dressed up as men and raped by their husband on their wedding night, you do know they were left to work the farm as the husbands went to essentially the mens club most of every day, you do know that they weren't allowed at these clubs, married women had to wear veils.
