If this isn't a bull trap on the minute scale MAs we're probably going back to 4xxx for a bit at least. The next 21 hours are critical etc.

Edit: Happy birthday Arrie.

Thank you.

Hell, that is one hell of a stupid move. Why would they send private keys unencrypted anywhere?

So that they can say 'honest mistake' whilst in reality it was all intended & carefully thought out.
I can't believe they can be that reckless. Now they will have lawsuits up their ass.
Who knows how many people are/will be affected.

RIP Coinomi.

That's a messed up situation for the OP. I hope he gets his coins back. He did a great job sharing the story. I am safe anyway, I use Electrum 2/2 multiSig for my savings.

there are already some people complaining about lost funds. I don't question that this google spell check is a stupid move, but I don't understand how this should leak the private key? the google spell check is (hopefully) a https requests, which is encrypted. and google will not leak the keys for sure. so what did leak the keys?

Actually it's a shitstorm.
Many electrum/update hacks though. Also a red flag for me.

Cold storage wallet/paper only - no hot wallets for my savings.

Everyone listen up, I got victimize of electrum phishing today.
I loss my BTC, just want to share so you will know guys, you can read my story here - 2018 Crypto theft overview

I decided not to reinstall an OS and just run an anti virus to scan my computers, it's still safe for me?

even thought that fake electrum is supposedly limited in what it does there is no way i would trust that OS again. especially as you mention in the other thread about having keys in plain .txt and excel files stored on it.

i would immediately move all the crypto that has the private keys stored in plain text or excel to new addresses (do it in a clean computer, perhaps from a live ubuntu cd, open office can read excel files i believe) reformat and reinstall everything.

one thing you may want to do is a complete clone of the drive that this happened on before wiping and reinstalling, just for archive purposes in case you want to reference anything on it later. macrium reflect free can do this and you can mount the image as a virtual drive. but i would treat that image very carefully. and of course you need a separate drive big enough to hold the compressed image.

EDIT: i would stronly suggest a hardware wallet. i have ledger nano s, trezor one and trezor t. i like the trezors more. the trezor one has a very long history and i trust it the most.
