If the Swiss are worth their salt, the SNB should print Swiss currency and buy Bitcoin instead of Apple shares.

The first country to (hyper)inflate Bitcoin, will have the strongest gains.

EDIT: Acronis, if you read this, i'll never buy your drive imaging software ever again, because it just sucks. Macrium Reflect FTW!

been using macrium for years. it Just Works. add syncback and youre pretty well covered.

recommended.

although some now swear by win10s (and 7 too i think) built in stuff as apparently its far better than previous versions. i run that too but have never actually used it for recovery. and i have blown my C: drive (samsung 840 pro pretty much died.. and it failed its own self diagnostic).

oddly enough my intel X-25 80gb ssd that was a daily driver for years in my desktop is still kicking in a notebook i still use pretty often.. its like its unkillable.

Just put in an order my wife has been preparing for the past month. Though the low price gave me an excuse to tell her she couldn't shop.

seriously? and she actually didnt shop?

cool. my wife just stays on the gas pedal. i cant see how the post office loses money when just what she alone buys online should keep it afloat.

We have to absolutely resist the SSP* !

I see it myself dramatically rising whenever we approach 10k, the prospect of how big this will become once we hit 50k scares the shit out of me.

If I wanted to forget it I wouldn't have marked on my agenda "Halving with LoTV8s" and I wouldn't have quoted here a messge one year old!
And don't worry, I might have been new to the forum, not to bitcoin!

Wot bet wuz that?

One year to halving.
Better get mining and buying.
I don’t want to be nit-picking here: little bit more than one year according to https://www.bitcoinblockhalf.com/:

Less than 500 blocks to go.

Covid-19 is artificially developed and is not a natural virus. Some people wants to take control of the world and want to rule the world, but most of us do not understand.

so heres something i didnt expect.

a 1200 stimulus check was issued to a dead family member that im executor of the estate of.

it went direct deposit to the estate bank account thats in my name as im the executor. since thats me the letter that told me of the 1200 went to me.

im not even sure what to make of that.

edit that person died over a year ago. and all relevant authorities were notified immediately (irs, ssa etc)
still, sorry to hear it.
i would hold it for them in case they realise and want it back.
sorry i meant hodl it. in btc

well it turns out that indeed, they want it back.

as you said i should of converted to btc - the estate would of made $400ish USD at this point. but i think i would of had to open an exchange account for the estate, which im not sure i could do, although it was probably possible. and taxes etc.

sure i could of done it under my name but to satisfy the estate stuff legally (family involved would of been fine with it but you just never really know) i just left it as USD.

oh that's true, lots of hassle and doubt, let alone sadness. sorry I was a bit flip. also i assumed they would take longer to start muttering about clawing it back.
moral i guess is: it's not money till it's your bitcoin under your control?
can you charge them ( he says going straight back to being flip) a few sats for the hassles?

no worries about being flippant; i would have it no other way. and the deceased would of approved too.

i should deduct the price of the stamp and envelope ill need to mail an estate check back to the irs.

edit: plus the price for return receipt.

I cannot believe that this thread is still going.

And Jimbo is still doing his morning greetings  Grin

And JJG is still carrying on with his nonsense.

Ah, good to see you all again. Shame Adam isn't around anymore.

 It's also a shame you don't have a hat.

I know this story has been posted, but not from this source, and the interesting part is not what we already know but the comments at the bottom of the article. The public, at least the ones at marketwatch clearly are dominated by no-coiners and not-yet-coiners who mostly seem very late on even attempting to understand bitcoin.
https://www.marketwatch.com/story/hedge-fund-boss-who-called-the-87-crash-and-made-timely-call-on-gold-now-says-if-i-am-forced-to-forecast-my-bet-is-it-will-be-bitcoin-as-the-best-inflation-hedge-2020-05-07

From the comments...

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Nice to see we haven't had too big of a correction after breaching $10k, just the usual minor profit taking... currently $9940USD/$13870CAD (Bitcoinaverage).
_____

3 more days to the halving. Saying the halving is a non-event is like saying pregnancy is a non-event at the moment of conception. There's a gestation period.

The first few months nothing is noticeable. Then the bulge starts to show. Then it gets enormous. Then labor starts. That's when we start posting images of trains, rockets, and violins.

Eventually an ATH is born and there's great joy. Unfortunately that's when it turns to shit... literally. Diapers (nappies?) have to be changed. Sleep patterns are disrupted. Post-partum depression sets in. Bitcoin winter.

Then we do it all again 4 years later.
