I've been watching a lot of videos of the mayhem today on Twitter, can't get enough of it TBH. They also reinstated legal liquor here so I'mma get my beers on... Haven't had a real beer in over a month!

But for those who are looking for a heartwarming moment amidst all the chaos, I recommend you watch this:

https://twitter.com/Breaking911/status/1267243719310430215
That stuff is great and all, but without meaningful punishment for the cops who, say, shoot people for sitting on their own porch, and especially for the people who ordered them to do so, right to the highest levels of politicians, it's just noise. Things will keep getting worse.

And when the cops start 'enforcing' illegitimate 'orders'? What happens then?

Then you fight back, of course.

Fighting back means refusing to compy with such illegitimate order, at the very least.

That woman did exactly that, and your reaction was:

to be fair, that idiot woman was told 3 times to get in her house and she didn't listen

"Fighting back" illegitimate orders by "getting into her house"? How is that makes sense...

^ In this case it was common sense to comply with the orders. I am not even sure it really is illegitimate during a state of alarm. Putting yourself in unnecesary risk for not following a simple and not really harming order would be against all common sense.

If it really was illegitimate then complain/sue later (fight back).

This past week miners have sold 673 more bitcoin than were generated. We are seeing capitulation from inefficient miners, but prices are holding steady.

What do you think happens when these miners are finally shaken out?

@bitserve

Likely based on the assumption that when freshly mined coins are moved for the first time (‘first spend’), they are sold. But even assuming that is true, still 673 more coins sold than mined in a week’s time is peanuts (but unsustainable as well).

Would be interesting though watching these numbers over a large time frame. Maybe there is a website monitoring?

In this case? What about other cases? At what point you fight back? Or you're keep complying and complying... because it's always "common sense"...

I am not even sure it really is illegitimate during a state of alarm.

100% illegitimate. Not even a question.

If it really was illegitimate then complain/sue later (fight back).

It doesn't work.

People getting upset with what the legacy media wants you to be upset about and believe the narratives they spout:
  • Trump vote bad (democratically elected)
  • Brexit vote bad (same democratic vote opposing parties wanted years before)
  • Coronavirus bad (nothing but a bad seasonal flu from what I can gather, hardly hurts the young at all, unlike cancer, heart disease, traffic related deaths and malaria) Stay in doors ya'll! (Bad idea since Vitamin D and lots of activity outside are currently the only forms of prevention of infection or getting a bad bout of complications)
  • Police bad - must destroy your own town to show 'em eh?
  • Bitcoin bad - Only used by criminals to do scary things with

The legacy media are behaving like an old dinosaur fighting for its last remains of existence it still has, lashing out, biting everyone it still can. Pay attention to me please, everything sucks, be afraid even what I am telling you you should be afraid about doesn't actually concern you much usually. Tune in again tomorrow, thanks. It reminds me of the demented Joker in The Dark Knight: "Look at me!". When no one looks he is nothing. Maybe a bank robber but nothing more. The illusion he creates is what scares people, not actually the thing he does.

And you are seriously wondering why your Bitcoin isn't at 100K yet?

Switch off, get productive and enjoy life.

Is anyone even using this? The domain expires in 4 months Tongue

Remote work followed by "remote" rest getting boring more and more with each passing week.
That said, I paid extra to get Oculus Quest for my SO as a gift.
I am not really a VR fun (at least not yet).

Anything new on Netflix?
Watching Ozark (they jumped the shark in the last two episodes of season 1, so i am not sure if it is worth watching any more).
Is Space Force any good?

Space Force was fun, but I'm a sucker for anything with Steve Carell after The Office. I quite enjoyed Ozark season 2 as well so perhaps try to stay the course with that too?

Tell you what though, let's just get rid of the Police force all together.
I agree.

Freedom is when the state fears the people. In a police state, which is any state that has a police force, the people fear the state. That's why communism continues to happen, obviously unsustainable as it is. We can not afford to have tyrants in power who enforce their will on the people with force.

Police has its origin in   controlling and bringing back escaped slaves. The difference, today it is done incognito and making the slave believe it is for his own good.
Medieval Europe had night watch men who's primary job was to keep the gas light lanterns lit. Paid by the community and he would respect his employer.
I think Hitler introduced income tax (and a lot of other taxes).

Sounds alot like saying those with underlying problems will die from Corona so its not the superflu its just your underlying condition, easy diagnosis.

... isn't it even worse that George Floyd was having a heart attack and the cops were kneeling all over him, and on his neck, instead of rendering assistance unlike psychopathic inhuman beasts, than if they simply executed him by asphyxiation from kneeling on his neck?

Don't know if it's worse, but it 's definitely just as bad.

An autopsy report talks about "potential intoxicants"?
It's a preliminary report only, the final report is yet to come, presumably with a toxic report.

The coroners report is in, and he died from medical problems in conjunction with drugs, the cop did not kill him.

I see.

Ok Jimbo, let me refrase that.
The coroners preliminary report is in, and it seems like he died from medical problems in conjunction with possible drugs, the cop might not have killed him

.... the instinctive reaction for the US authorities to put the military on the streets show this has a long way to go. The State is doubling-down on the State-sanctioned violence and oppression that has precipitated and inflamed the crisis, instead of seeking urgent and lasting resolutions inside their own agencies of the State where the problems clearly lie. The parallels with the bungling public health response to the pandemic inside public health state agencies is not coincidental but symptomatic of broad institutional decay and dysfunction.

It wont end until the whole of the militarized apparatus of State oppression is dismantled and scrapped now. The military should only ever be retained for defending against external threats, never turned upon the people who pay their wages, that's the final turn of the vicious spiral into anarchic civil war (suspension of habeas corpus). Police were only ever meant to be Officers of the Peace, never Law Enforcement. After total War the military hands over control of the streets to Officers of the Peace; militarisation of the police and putting military on the streets is naturally escalating society back to wartime conditions.

None of this is unexpected, it has been happening gradually in clear sight for those willing to see, only now it has accelerated to the point when it is plain for all to see. Effectively, USA is already in the early stages of a state of civil war.

Abraham Lincoln spoke of government "of the people, by the people, for the people". This was the ideal of democracy.

It seems it has now become government "against the people, versus the people, over the people". Is this is what American "democracy" has become?

No thinking person is advocating anarchy. Without basic law and order, corporations and other criminals would take over.

We do need community-level policing. The problem is indeed the militarization of what should be a constabulary of local residents. Constables should be known to other local residents on a personal level. Even in big cities, this is possible on a neighborhood-to-neighborhood basis. Constables should display their names with pride.

Military and paramilitary forces should only be used against foreign threats. Unfortunately, the Military-Industrial Complex that Dwight Eisenhower warned about has become too profitable to be sustained by defense and has increasingly relied on offense to keep up the revenues.

Political bribery (lobbying) means that governments are for sale to the highest bidder.
_____

What can be done?

Constitutional changes should outlaw lobbying and limit police use of force.

The military should be be used only for national defense, not for international meddling nor domestic political purposes. Military budgets should be reduced in an orderly fashion so as not to trigger a military takeover. The military should be used domestically primarily to control police excesses.

As I mentioned, Law Enforcement should be replaced with local constabularies with only a basic federal force to keep the police in line.

The whole dirty little system of spying on and keeping files on citizens should be dismantled.

It would be best if this were done peacefully but we all know that more likely those who wield the power now won't give it up without a fight.

I agree with everything you say Jimbo, except the last paragraf, I think it can be done peacefully, but  i think it takes some kind of major event that changes the sentiment of the society to do that.

Surprised, anyone?

Yeah, I am.
I'm surprised Arrie can't face the FACT that Floyd could not fucking breathe.

Good morning JJG.

Did you sleep well?
Sorry, how was your day?

Where on earth did I say he not couldn't breath.
The preliminary report suggests that his shortness of breath was caused by heart trouble, and, maybe, drugs. We will know more when the final report is in.
I'm not defending the cops inaction when he was clearly sick. I'm defending the cops actions before that, when they were simply trying to arrest a money forger.
