The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

The Rand Corporation just released a report on attacking Bitcoin that includes sections corrupting pools and paying off pool operators. Could this be an attack or is this #3 guy just a space cadet?

How can I find out if my P2Pool node found any blocks?

Compare your nodes found share hashes (8 characters) with the last 8 characters of the block hash you want to know if you found. If they match, your node found the block.

Also, a 0.5% subsidy, or bonus, is paid to the block finder, so if your payout is 0.5% higher than it was estimated to be at the time the block was found it is likely you found it, check the share vs. block hash as mentioned above to confirm.

Question on the stats URIs ... is there one to list per-address (the number of) shares mined locally that are still considered valid ?

It goes up when you find a share. They expire over time though so hopefully you'll reach a fairly steady state with some fluctuations.

How much you get depends on the pool rate and luck. The pool rate is down right now so you'll get a bigger share than when it was higher.

How often you get it depends on the difficulty, the pool rate and luck. difficulty is up, pool rate is down so it will be less often.

Everyone please update to the latest version of p2pool from the github
https://github.com/p2pool/p2pool/commit/6f55d0540ce7aa53847fad7c4ffb9a9a60c61713

This should correct the issues some have been seeing with a flood of shares.

Thx. for the hint:
p2pool.611.to is up and running the latest commit 6f55d05. Cool

Do you have an idea how to auto payout merged mined coins proportionate to the local hashing power supplied for generation?
