Decoding info I saw, but dont understand it, dont know what these values mean.
So ubermix will work also on RX 470 4GB with Samsung memory?
I have also 470s with Hynix and Micron, if you want to test it, let me know...

I have Uber-Mix 3.1 on RX 480 8GB and RX 470 4GB they mining almost same on XMR.
I will PM you file with timings, you can test them all and let me know which one is best.

It's decoded from HEX but also those numbers and letters like 777000A means lot of things, there is another tool to decode this to correct specs. It looks like this. Again all is in that first post I've posted here.

So, I have used the BIOS provided and I verified in GPU-Z that the memory is DDR5 (SAMSUNG) on all cards. Bad news. Somehow it is STILL hashing only at 17MH/s now! Even if I restore to original BIOS which was actually exported from ATI Flash and not GPU-Z. Now, what doesn't make sense is how come it does not return to the original hash rate even though I flashed to the original BIOS. Additionally, I did update to EthOS 1.2.2 from 1.2.1 and everything went smooth. Does modifying BIOS in Windows also require special configuration in EthOS (I assume so and I do have global mem set to 1250 and just set globalcore to 2000).

I am completely lost as to what is going on. I do have 3 more identical cards sealed in the box which I am going to open, benchmark to check if they get to 24MH/s and extract the BIOS to hopefully restore to 24 and not lose money by being down.

I don't mine ETH neither have RX 5xx series and ETHOS... It should work if this bios is correct one. Try 1300MHz clock and 2000Mhz memory this should be running like hell. Could you try to mining in Windows? Also in Windows you maybe need wipe drivers after flashing. It sometimes doesn't work very well. Try flash orig bios, reboot, then modded one and also run DDU. Reboot and install AMD drivers, apply patch and reboot again. If it's  still not working there is problem with card or with bios.

On my 480s the 3.1 is much agressive and I am getting mem errors fast. I am trying now 3.2b (didnt't found 3.2 final non beta) and it looks more stable but on higher frequences...

Do you reinstall drivers on each bios flash? Which driver version you use?

Yes, I have Asus Strix RX 470 with Uber-Mix 3.1. I'm testing it right now, after few hours stable at 2030Mhz it can go even above 2100MHz but almost no difference...
I have Asus Dual RX 480 8G with 3.1 and it has same hashes as the RX 470, but other Dual O8G didn't working more than few minutes with 3.1... and 3.2 had a lot lower hashes so I'm returning this card.
It doesn't matter what core the card has only it matters memory manufacture!

I bet if you could run 3.1 on 1800 or 1900Mhz it will be better than 3.2 on 2000-2100Mhz.

On 3.1 I was able to run at 2025 resulting 29.5 Mhs, on 3.1 at 2050-2100 resulting 30.7 Mhz. At the moment stable for just 2 hours with 0 mem errors -> now testing it through the night, in the morning lets see if it is a jackpot...

Has there been a consensus on what the best driver for 580s is?


I've been playing around with the bios editor a bit, after setting my 580 gaming Xs to a 1500strap they do ~28.5mhs on ETH.

They will not do 2000mhz on the memory, the system hard locks. They will do 1999 all day, but not 2000. Something screwy is going on...



As far as changing the default mem and core clock, do I just change the last box to the speed I want? It's been almost 10 years since I played with flashing cards.

So, this was definetely something in MSI fucking things up. Once I flashed the card again and left GEN2 on in BIOS, it is now going at 28MH/s. Mem at 2000 and clock at 1300. Is there a way to get it to 30? Or pipedream?

Here are the original and modded BIOS roms based on the instructions. Both are for my set of GIGABYTE Aorus Radeon RX580 XTR 8G. However, no matter what I have tried, Windows 7 hangs as soon as the "Your VBIOS has been imported successfully" message and I have to hard reboot. Cards were definitely updated because as soon as I boot into EthOS, I get dready super high speed fans....and 17MH/S. Begging for help because these cards are just collecting dust instead of mining.

Memory is Samsung? It should be cause vendor is 0x21, but you better check it!
I've insert Uber-Mix 3.1 to 2000Mhz so you need 2000 and more to be running. Check for mem errors.
I don't have RX 5xx or even Gigabyte cards, so I can't really tell what you need more, TDP and clocks are set very high for stock... so I didn't change it, should be fine.
BTW did you use GPU-Z for backup? RX 4xx bios have 256KB, but yours have 512KB? I think it's not right. Use ATI flash for backup.

For now my GPU using 140W, it is mean a lot of heat.

Help! Hey Guys... A bit of a noob here, so greatly appreciate any help.

Setting up my 2nd and 3rd rig and decided to go with the RX580... Ended up with XFX RX580 8GB GTS Black Edition

I was only getting 18-19 hash rate out of the box... I can't get it past 20! From what I've read the 580's should be in the high 20's at least.

This was the best I could do... In ethOS I've updated the config...
Core: I've maxed out (according to specs) at 1425.
Memory: 2220

Is there anything else I should try?? Hoping to not have to return 10 GPUs...

You're supposed to underclock the GPU and tweak the memory timings with BIOS edits.

I picked up one of those XFX RX 580s as well, but it has two different types of memory.  4GB of type 1 Samsung and 4GB of type 2 Hynix (I posted a pic from the bios editor below).

So far I haven't tried to use the same straps across both types of memory...I have tried copying the 1500 from type 1 (Samsung) to only type 1, and the 1500 of type 2 to only the 2 (Hynix).  I reflashed the BIOS for 1625 as well, but it was still unstable.  I did several attempts with the 1625 Straps where I underclocked the GPU in Wattman but it didn't seem to help.

Does anyone think I should try to use the same timings "straps" for both the Samsung and Hynix?  It seems really odd/tricky to me to have 2 different types of memory to overclock independently.

If you like softbricking them, sure, go ahead!

I'm not 100% sure my card has two types of memory.  If it only has Hynix it will not matter what straps I plug in for Samsung memory.  As far as bricking it, I'm only adjusting memory timings.  There's surely going to be some timings that would work better than the defaults for ETH mining.

How could I now undervolt or increase the hashrate on my RX580 (Samsung Memory)? It is going at ~27.5MH/s. Any pointers where I can read about it?
