Anyone to help me decide between the different 570 models? MSI Gaming x ($189) vs XFX XXX RS ($189) vs Gigabyte gaming ($169) vs Gigabyte AORUS (179)?

Why pick the more expensive cards before the gigabyte gaming?

Thanks!

Gigabyte Gaming 580 is running a steady 29-30mh/s, Aorus is absolutely no different, MSI Armor I bitched about before are actually the best cards at 30-31mh/s. Red Devil's arriving tomorrow.........and I'm out of boards.

So far the MSI X170a gaming m5 has been a clusterfuck bitch trying to get to run more than 4 cards, instead of 7. Still looking for a solution :\

So 570 should not be much different I suppose? Cheesy

Has anyone tested the Gigabyte gaming 570?

Of the 580's you tried, have you tried dual mining with them? Is there any difference between them? The prices here seem to differ a lot and I have no clue which 580 to pick. See https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/zoeken/?keyword=rx+580. For example the Gigabyte Radeon RX 580 GAMING 8GB is listed as €265,- while Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 580 8GB is listed as €301,95 and Asus ROG-STRIX-RX580-T8G-GAMING is listed as €341,50. That is a big difference in price... and now I have no clue which one to pick. I am leaning toward the Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 580 8GB because in the topic here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1881008.0 it is getting good results but that might be the same for the other cards too  Huh

A few GPU tests Sapphire 5xx. A few successes, but one problem.

I use:

Asus Z270F Strix - Without any problems, 7 GPUs work or MSI Z270-A Pro 6 GPU ready, I have tried, I currently operate about 10 Rigs without problem (RX 4xx)

PolarisEditor by jaschaknack - https://github.com/jaschaknack/PolarisBiosEditor/tree/110aa3a5a0aeafe16bb0a96b53583e7e8e77999b
SRBPolaris - BIOS editor
AtiFlash 2,74
atikmdag-patcher-1.4.5
Wattool o.92 does not function

Sapphire 570 4GB Nitro+ Hynix - strap 1750 - 1100/2050/-96mv-gpu/+20powertarget = 29,3MHs @ cca 156 on the wall

Sapphire 570 8GB Nitro+ Hynix - Strap 1750 - 1100/2100/-96mvgpu/+30powertarget = 29,6MHs

Sapphire 570 4GB Pulse Elpida - strap 1750 - 1100/1910/-96mv-gpu/+30powertarget = 24MHs @ cca 150-160 on the wall

Sapphire 580 8 GB Pulse Hynix - strap 1750 - 1100/2150/-96mv-gpu/+30powetarget = 27,3MHs @ Here I do not know exactly, a little more than 570, No more than 170

Sapphire 570 4GB Mini Elpida - strap 1750 - 1110/2040/-96mvgpu/30+target = 26,3-26,4 @ 164w on the wall = 169 USD newegg very nice

Sapphire 580 8GB Nitro+ - Hynix - Strap 1750 - 1100/2200/-96mvGPU/50powertarget = 27,8MHs

Hynix on 570 is better then Hynix on 580. Hynix on 570 timing 7777 @ 1750 but 580 hynix 999 @ 1750 but i have to check this because the problem is two different time sets 1: 1750 and 2: 1750 each for another set of memories.

This is my tests, But I have a little problem. The signature for the modified bios driver is ok. But it does not work at the same time 570 with 580 on one motherboard.

If the 4x 570 works and re-sign the driver, the 580 runs but does not run 570.

Simply, it works either it or it. It does not work together.

Does anyone have any advice or idea?

Maybe a new Atipatcher?

Hi,

I have a same resultat with a 570 Pulse 4G (very bad card) !!

Thx for the confirmation.

I will probably buy some RX 570 in the coming weeks, and the ones I will take will be the Gigabyte ones. MSI is great, but I see no reason to pay 20$ more. MSI is well-known to inflate its cards price, so this do not mean they are from an higher quality, at least interesting for us miners.

Over here there's very limited stock of 470/480/570/580.

I usually like to buy cards with dual bios so I can flash them with a base bios and then adjust them with Watttool depending on the coin I mine (like my XMR bios doesn't work with it's heavy undervolt under ETH). And if I F it up, it's easy to revert to the stock bios by just flipping a switch.

Now I feel like a cow watching the train pass and I think the time to buy cards and mine is now, whatever the best deal/brand is. But I have little experience with other brands.

I currently only own Sapphire cards (Nitro+ 8Gb and 4Gb). Do you guys know what other brand does dual bios? I know XFX do...

Currently the cheapest cards I find and that are available are:

MSI RX 570 ARMOR 4G OC (~200$, MSI's 580 is 30$ more)

Or:
SAPPHIRE Radeon RX 470 Nitro OC at 195$, but it's no Nitro and for 5$ more and can get a 570

And that's it. You can find other cards, but with the limited stock they go for 260->300$ and that's just not a smart buy.

So any thoughts on that MSI 570 ARMOR 4G?

The RX 570 seems from what I saw today to be a very good and promising card. If you choose to go with this card, MSI is by far the best brand, with the best cooling system, so if hopefully for you it is not that expensive when compared to the other brands, go with this one.

Of the cards I've tested so far, all have been dual mining ETH+DCR. I haven't tested the Red Devil's since they don't arrive until this afternoon. Now to the big question...............which would I buy again.........whichever is the cheapest. They all perform within a mh/s or two of each other. The Giga cards are of better quality and have back plates. The MSI is cheaply made, but performs slightly higher and runs hotter. Out of all of them, the MSI rig is the only one that has randomly shutdown. Both giga rigs have been a steady 29mh/s 800+dcr without a single restart for well over 24 hours. I'd buy the Giga gaming 580 8gb over the Aorus because they are slightly smaller and a bit cheaper. I honestly don't see the Red Devil's changing that opinion, but...............ya never know til testing is over.

EDIT: Bonehead move of the day.............saw a box sitting in the corner. It is full of Red Devil cards that apparently arrived early. Now I know what I'll be testing for the next few hours LMAO.

EDIT: on the Red Dragon 580 8gb...........if you are looking for a cheap card, this might be it. Bone stock straight out of the box it does 27.8mh/s ETH + 835 dcr. My only change was to add -cvddc 900 to the start bat, resulting in gpuZ saying it max's at 122watt. BUT, there is a caveat.......not much tuning does a dam thing that I have seen so far. Modding the 2:1750 to 2:2000 doesn't seem to make much difference at all other than it becomes less stable. Messing with Trixx/afterburner results in HARD crashes. This card likes it's defaults and those defaults are not too bad for a $200usd card. If you are not into tweaking and tweaking, build a rig of these. They are fire and forget.

That's some really bad results, rx 480 nitro+ 8GB goes way above 30Mh/s with Samsung ram.

Have you done any more tests?

I run this board with 9 cards without issue, and it was very easy to get running. I have helped a couple people with this board, and to the best of my knowledge, everyone has been able to get it to work with the following steps:

1. Use a Skylake processor. One person I know of started with a Kaby Lake processor, and he could not get the board to run more than 4 cards without switching to a Skylake.

2. Update the BIOS to the latest version.

3. Enable above 4g decoding

4. Leave all other settings alone, especially the settings concerning PCIe speed.

We now know we can flash 4xx with 5xx bios.
But can we flash 5xx with 4xx bios ? ( to stay with "old" drivers and don't have driver bios signature problem )
Anyone ?

I've got some more risers arriving this evening. All my boards have Skylake i5's, 8gb of 2400 RAM. I set the 4G, other settings to Gen 2 and my one test board is running 4 cards. Two on the board and 2 using risers. Until I get more risers in, not much else I can do for now.

Mine's got hynix.
Temp is related with fan, 75% fan gives 50 C.
Watt usage 210 whole set, so let say 150W for gpu.
