i like this spool simple and esay to use .. but something in my mind want t ask how this pool work and what mean by HERP since i see the pool work have two list payout and herp..what is thAT AND WHAT FUNCTION Huh
HERP is just the software's internal counter to determine who is scheduled for a payout and how much relative to other miners. The payout list shows those that will get a payout if the block is found in "payouts" and the rest of the list "postponed" are those who need to accumulate more HERP to get a payout - which may happen on subsequent blocks due to being accumulated if they miss out on the current block. Herp accumulates indefinitely on successive blocks until you reach the threshold for payout.

Oh so if i can not produce more share to get  herp i will stay in the list herp ..l its that right ??

if wrong correct me since i new and need to find pool easy to use no register and something like that

Maybe I will toss some here.

near as I can tell  we have done 1,000,000,000 plus

and 700,000,000  would be average luck so we are due Grin
Every hash is welcome and appreciated Smiley Just bear in mind someone else is mining here renting from NH so make sure you're not competing with him.

what happend if get competing with another user Huh

Yes that is correct until we find many more blocks.

You just end up paying too much at nicehash. It is best to rent when there are few other renters.

Welcome aboard, and be aware, our base hashrate amounts to a VERY small pool still at the moment so it may be a very long time before you see any payout since we haven't even solved a block yet and payouts only happen with each block solve.

Im still hashing here, never been much for conversation but look in from time to time. Only a pathetically small (3xGekkos) on a little raspi setup, and barely in the payout section  Cheesy but still ticking over.

The whole little system only draws 75w so just leave her plugged into a 6pin connector alongside my gpu rig on a server supply.

I just join a couple of days ago and I'm excited to be part of a pool waiting for its first block.

If you are not mining at ckpool.org, you are just doing it wrong.

I'm still around although I sold most of my miners on ebay, I only have some little R1's left and my old S3+. I'll get something new eventually.

I'd love to see this pool take off and be up there with the top block finders.
Well I'd like to see that too but asides from the early code failures, and the raw interface, I suspect it's the simple lack of block finding and the way too small hashrate that stops miners from coming here at all. I'm actually wondering if I shouldn't just make this pool 0% fee and hope for donations instead... At 0.5% fee with exceedingly rare blocks, it's not like it's going to make any profit. Let me think about it...

Incentives have failed to attract miners on other small pools and I've already dumped more money into this pool than I'd like to admit.

Alright, I've thought about it and decided to get rid of the fee entirely. As a tiny pool it is completely unprofitable and I don't really need the pitiful reward it would provide me to cover its costs. I will turn it into a service for the mining community instead, and will only revisit fee if the hashrate gets very large. Perhaps make the fee .001% of the network hashrate the pool is; i.e. if the pool is 10% of the network hashrate, the fee is 1%. But for now the fee will be completely ZERO. Give me a chance to rework the code and I'll announce here when I'm restarting the pool and update the pool thread accordingly.

Sadly, you're not alone in that boat. For multiple reasons I can't contribute any more to this block (other than failover), but I assure you I'm not gone for good.

BTC price  hurts the pool a lot.

If I rent:

1)here
2)mmpool
3)jonny bravos pool
4) ck's solo pool

say .01  btc minimum  so 4x = .04  that is 133 bucks

Nicehash  wants .01  and sells you 50th

so phil or anyone   just mine on 1 pool  it is still  .01 = 33 bucks

and that .01  gives me a .01/12.5 shot of hitting that is about 1250 to one.

 worse yet    I am betting  at 1250 to 1 odds  I don't collect 1250 x 33 = 41000

like I would if I bet  ck's solo pool.

so the only way to play here is  5 guys put up .05 total of .25  and do a bigger rental

but but but should not they  just play ck's solo pool  answer is yes.

I did a lot of looking at this   from  view point of gameplay  and teams to attack a block

and I have drawn the conclusion  that at the high prices of btc  3000 plus tiny pools are bad.  solo pools are good

any pool  that is under 5ph  can go really long  for a block.

Unless we could convince  nicehase to rent us .01 btc at 10 or 15th  these little pools will die out.

if you could rent 15th  for .01 for a day it would make this pool better to play.

I have played the four pools  I mention for years.  I just can not afford  to play even if rental price is close to real  I just can't afford to lay down  33 bucks for 8 hours

as .01 for 50th lasts 8 hours.

Math only favors  ck's Solo pool not the other 3.

look at my nicehash wallet:

much of it at ck solo and mmpool
some here
 some at jonny-bravo
and some on eth

most of the 106 coins in rental  were under 1000
now  it is over 3000

so a cold streak on a small pool is very hard to keep renting

especially since i am not sure how honest nicehash is with renting in the first place.

I reached the point that I stopped renting as I can't justify fighting the variance.

Having spent more at nh mining my alts than I'd ever put out to the public, I can say that I've never had any "dishonesty" issues (I'm assuming you're talking about rumors of withholding blocks/large shares?).

Yeah but there is a second issue if I rent on some pools.

Which does not apply to this pool.

Restarting the pool shortly. I'll be returning default diff to 4000 since the 16k was a temporary NH glitch that I don't really want to cater for.

Restart complete. The thread topic now represents the new ZERO FEE status of this pool and you can see the current fee in the pool work. Happy mining everyone.

I will only review the zero fee status of this pool if it ever gets significantly larger.

Hi!

Trying this pool out, looks cool.

Watching the pool stats, block height just went up a couple times in the last few minutes.  Did pool find two blocks that fast?!?  Seems like I'm misreading it, I figured a 60T pool would take a long time to find a block.  Maybe got super lucky?

Block height is the current bitcoin block height that the pool is working on... not the pool's block.

Cool, I'm still pretty confused but that's what led me to this thread anyways (was reading up on cgminer).   I like the sound of HERP over DERP though.  I'll have to practice saying that with a straight face.

Thanks for all the work you've put into cgminer!

Q: My SP30 says it's running v4.7.0, using an old sdcard image I found on webarchive.  Do you think I should try to get a newer version built / installed?  Not sure if I'm ready for segwit.  Maybe a newer version would squeeze a few more hashes out?  I'm just using this miner until a couple S9's show up in a month or two, so maybe it's not worth the trouble.
