Just flashed a K16 miner using the instructions from the website. It took a few tries, but it worked fine. Don't use a usb 3.0 port, use a 2.0 port (or 1.1) and use the usb cable that came with the PickIt3 kit.
This miner was producing nothing but hardware errors, now it's hashing happily along.
I will try to flash some of the half rate hashing miners this weekend and see how it goes.
So miners need to be flashed before they are run? We need to buy another thing before we can run them? No.........miners are flashed & tested before being shipped. In rare cases you may need to re-flash,very rare cases

Mine came with good firmware out of the box. Last I checked it was still the latest version. It might depend on when you had them shipped.

So who do I actually have to kill to have my miners shipped out? I have emailed steamboat about having them shipped out minus the bootloader etc now twice over the last 10 days with no response. Is there some other way to make this happen? Some additional hoops that I have to jump through? If I have missed something in the 200 some odd pages of this thread I apologize. Anyone help me out?

I recommend that you write a message formally requesting the miners be shipped ASAP. Use the BTC address you originally used to order assembly, and create a signed message containing your request. (Remember, you had to do this when you ordered chips all those months ago?) You need to include the message, BTC address, and generated signature string. Send the signed message with a clear subject line to the official group buy email address: asicbuy@gmail. com You need to include the message, BTC address, and generated signature string. I'm giving this advice because I had repeatedly requested my name be added to the email list months ago. After several ignored emails, the signed message finally got his attention and he added me. I hope this helps with your shipping requests. YMMV of course. Disclaimer: I'm not officially related to the Group Buy. In fact I'm sure SB wishes I'd just STFU.

+1 , did the same. even used the the LSDs website to tell "ship miners," no reply. I emailed last week and with in one day I got an email with a tracking order and in about two days later received the package. My email was phrased quite rudely though due to my frustration to be shipped as is. If you have not received a response in ten days I would take Unacceptable's offer about your order to get in touch with steamboat.

More detail? Does it go down in hashing then cycle up back again due to heat or completely off?

Here's what I think about the refunds, I figured the assembly was done for USD, but the avalon chips were done for BTC, I've spent 5.5 BTC ($550USD roughly) on assembly, and another 5.5BTC for avalon chips, a little transparency would go a long way for sure, but I'm pretty confident that SB immediately converted the BTC I sent him to USD to pay for parts and the assembler, so I expect this: I get back $550 minus a restocking fee in current value BTC back for the assembly, and I get back the 5BTC from Yifu for the avalon chips, I think that's the most fair and nobody will lose their house.
I screwed up twice, the first time I got caught up in the huge difficulty increase and spent BTC on the most promising looking hardware, instead I should have done the math and waited. I screwed up the second time asking for a refund, the smartest thing would have been to start hashing, see what I make with the units, and sell them on ebay and probably make back all my (USD equivalent) money.
I knew it was a risk, but SB really dropped the ball with his lack of transparency, I'm not asking for a long story or a forensic accounting of his business, just keep us in the loop, a short update every now and then would go a long way.

According to my calculations, for me anyway, each K16 cost $328.29.
Even at $1k a BTC, I am pretty far from ROI, on this deal.
But, it's getting closer every day....and...I'm securing the network, which I'm sure is looking incredibly attractive to attack right now.

So still no news on us that asked for hosting. STEAMBOAT WHERE ARE THESE MINERS? The thing is we KNOW they are built because people who are changing their minds are getting them shipped straight away. I don't have anywhere to host mine here so have no choice but to have them hosted there. Why is this not happening?
