I'm gonna have to agree with taking action if we continually keep getting screwed out of updates and possible refunds.  I don't want to go that route, I think I'll wait a few more days, trying my damnedest to be patient, but our patience is screwing us...

Reminds me of Avalon.

Yep. Overdue for an update, I'd say.

I've gotta say I'm baffled. Most of this negativity could have been avoided simply by updating us. It seems as if he's completely lost interest. Not that I blame him. Except for that little matter of parts and assembly...

Oh, and those people who still didn't get refunded. And those that got chips but didn't want them. Wow.

904 chips
batch 4
refund requested 16/09 (before 16/09 in fact, but don't have the exact date anymore - possibly around 10/09)
54x K16 assembly+testing+hosting

no refund for chips received (and possibly no full refund at all either). I'm pissed off.

What happened? You're getting chips when you requested a refund? Were you notified that chips have been received by SB?

Yes, something like that, some chips some refund, with the added twist that I'm the "cutoff customer" while others have actually requested refunds after me. That's BS.

Sorry to hear that.

The problem is it made 100% financial sense to refund all 6 batches. Even Yifu stated in his communication 3-4 weeks ago that he could not recommend taking chips and it made clear sense to request a refund. Additionally Yifu offered a refund for all chip batches.

The responsible thing for SB to have done is to have requested a refund for all chips at that point, since that was the choice that absolutely made the most sense. But his own financial interest clearly got in the way, which is why not all batches were immediately refunded. This conflict of interest seems problematic to say the least  Embarrassed

At least we know something is happening because people are still getting refunds.  So it's not like there's zero info.

That would be nice but it seems refunds have stopped at the 16th of September

What do you mean? One page ago, this was posted about a 9/16 refund request being "the cutoff customer":

Well as long as refunds still are coming, that is something.

This radio silence is just counter productive. If there is a case of some refunds being ineligible, a process should have been adopted to minimise the exposure of everyone.. I know that people had concerns over this very situation occurring.

Anyone ever running a group buy can take some lessons from whats happened here.  It seems fairly important to be clear about the cancellation policies both if the organiser cancels, the supplier cancels and buyers cancel.  I'm not criticising sb at all, this is all hindsight.

SB said he would do an update on the forum "today" - 2 days ago.

I'm waiting for him, but I think he should post the info he gave me.

I wonder if Batch 3 is in question.... SB presumably has Batch 1 & 2 in hand now, Batch 5 & 6 are refunded.... most likely batch 4 is refunded as well. Leaving Batch 3... Yifu is now wanting to auction what he has left, so presumably he has shipped all outstanding orders (hopefully not SB batch 3!.)

Of course, just speculation until SB updates.

I think we'll all be relieved to have at least some communication from SB. Look forward to it.

I'll be damned if SB uses my assembly parts to build ANYTHING from Avalon without refunding me the full cost first.

Possibly the worst part of this entire thing is that SB has lost ALL credibility with me. That unfortunate fact makes the idea of buying Avalon Gen 2 chips for him to assemble intolerable to me. I'd rather lose my entire assembly costs than give Avalon OR SB another penny.

It's really too bad. I thought Steamboat was offering hands down the best group buy and assembly option. I still can't believe Steamboat frittered away our trust by continually making the SAME mistake others have made. He even recognized the communication problem, but didn't fix it. Doh!

Communication really is key. Poor communication loses customers. Period.
