904 chips
batch 4
refund requested 16/09 (before 16/09 in fact, but don't have the exact date anymore - possibly around 10/09)
54x K16 assembly+testing+hosting

no refund for chips received (and possibly no full refund at all either). I'm pissed off.

What happened? You're getting chips when you requested a refund? Were you notified that chips have been received by SB?

Yes, something like that, some chips some refund, with the added twist that I'm the "cutoff customer" while others have actually requested refunds after me. That's BS.

What are the criteria for being a "cutoff customer"?

With messaging like this and lack of any update material since 9/11 steamboat is looking more and more like a scammer every day.

One of the following should be true:

- Has no chips and no refund from Avalon.
- Doesn't have chips but has the refund proceeds to refund customers, but has not refunded customers.
- Has chips and has assembled them into boards, but has not sent them to customers.
- Has chips but has not assembled them into boards.
- Has chips and has assembled them into boards that don't work.

Commitments for open and timely communication have gone down the drain. No miners delivered and many group buy members left holding the bag.

SB's identity is known, that's not the issue I think (no need to start a with hunt).

He put himself and us in a tight spot and it's starting to look like some of us will become "investors". I don't like that one bit and I hope we can have a chat about this before things start to get sour.

there is a cutoff?  Shouldn't we have been made aware of this when originally offered a refund?  This is getting ridiculous now.

He stated that he wouldn't force a refund on anyone.  So there was bound to be a batch where some wanted a refund and some didn't.

Definitely. Knowing Steamboat (through everything he has provided while everyone continuously uses their words bloodily), this is exactly his character--willing to sacrifice his $$(i.e.BTC) over yours.

Yes there was. AND Steamboat was questioned REPEATEDLY about what would happen in that instance. Like many other questions, he refused to address that one.

How is it right to NOT force refunds on anyone, but to force only certain people to TAKE chips they don't want? That is pretty hosed up if you ask me. Especially since Steamboat CANNOT at this point produce a working board, even if he HAS chips.

Yes, I'll say it again: AFAIK There is ZERO evidence of working examples of the K16. If you can refute this, Steamboat, now is the time. And if there ARE NO working boards, how can you force someone to take delivery of chips?

I'm pretty sure we've been abandoned here, boys.

Well hopefully he can get refunds for all the batches of chips, especially since there is no indication Yifu ever actually did send any.

The way I understand it, KS was the "cutoff customer" and got some chips, and a partial refund. It isn't clear to me if the chips KS is now "stuck" with actually shipped yet or not.

We might know that if Steamboat would ever post an update. Although shipping status really doesn't mean much anyway without a working board.

I was mentioned earlier that perhaps someone should contact John Q to obtain real life contact information for Steamboat. I believe it's time to take that action. Steamboat is making a specific business decision to not contact us with current developments. With that decision comes consequences. It's time for him to face them.

Steamboat may not be ready to take action, but I am.

Yeah Yifu has thoroughly screwed everyone, I guess it is time for all the people affected to somehow try to do some damn thing about it, though its not clear what there is that can be done.

Not sure there is much to do against Steamboat though other than pressure him to nail Yifu to the wall somehow. They are both in the U.S., right? So maybe he can do something there...

-MarkM-

EDIT: I found the email with the refund form in it and filled out the form and submitted it, as the email did say there was no time limit to request a refund.

I want my refund, 128 chips, they are useless and no deadline was stated, if anyone has not requested a refund they won't even make the refund amount back in mining at this point.  So get that refund request in.  Your screwed and your screwing others who know better.  This whole thing should be shut down at this point and forced refunds should commence.  I can't believe that steamboat would knowingly screw his customers like this, I would hope he would try to protect some of his customers investments.  This is a fucking nightmare.

From the utter lack of communication, the only conclusion I can think of: Steamboat is intentionally staying silent in an attempt to get every single person to request a refund.  If this is the case, there would be no way to prove it, no way to establish negative intentions, and no way to hold steamboat accountable for the entire catastrophe.  If everyone requests a refund, then steamboat can simply give us partial refunds, recoup as much of his losses as possible, and move on to never do anything like this ever again.

I was holding out up until today.  My investment was pretty minuscule, especially compared to others, and losing the small amount of money wasn't that big of a deal as long as I got some type of hardware to play with (Even if that hardware was 100% useless).  I have gotten to the point where I truly believe not one single miner will ever be produced, and steamboat is working towards a 100% user requested refund status.

I have requested a refund as of today, 10/01/2013.  Now we shall see if anything happens.

If he wants everyone to take a refund, he should just say so. In fact, he just say something, ANYTHING.

Basically, he's hoping some miracle will happen that will keep him from having to refund the pathetic 25% assembly he already offered. Which coincidentally he's never mentioned how to claim.

If no update is forthcoming in the next day or so, I WILL begin taking action. If I'm gonna get screwed on assembly, I'm gonna make it pretty ugly. REALLY ugly. No more Mr. Nice guy.

I'm gonna have to agree with taking action if we continually keep getting screwed out of updates and possible refunds.  I don't want to go that route, I think I'll wait a few more days, trying my damnedest to be patient, but our patience is screwing us...
