Got mine today - hooked up and working well!

Did have a small issue with the fan power connector.  One of the pins was loose, so made it challenging to plug into the molex without the pin popping out.  Finally got it to make a good connection.  Other than that, the projectklondike.org site had everything I needed to get this puppy hashing.

It will never pay for itself, but I am happy to support the BTC network Smiley

You could have answered your own question by entering that query into Google rather than using his real name here.

AFAIK, Steamboat never divulged that information here on the forums.

I could very well be mistaken. Apologies if so.

Yea, if steamboat's real name is tied to his bitcointalk username on Google, then what's the point of keeping it secret here?

I don't understand the problem either. Is he running a legitimate business? If so, what is the problem with posting his real name?

Frankly, it's a little confusing why there are so many different contact methods being used. For example, he normally posts updates to the forum as well as through the ASICbuy - at - gmail dot com email address. This last time he did not apparently do so. And now the shipping notifications are coming from a different email? It does make one wonder.

While I'm on the subject, I'm ready for hard information on WHEN i can expect my hardware assembly refund. None of this "over the next few weeks" BS. Barring that, I call for full disclosure of Steamboat's real life contact information.

Steamboat - Once and for all - WHEN will assembly refunds begin, how long will they take to be completed, and in what order?

I hate to agree, but it would be cool to have my bitcoins back so i can do stuff with them.

I was doing some research and other group buys who have failed have returned the bitcoins fairly quickly.
EDIT: removed time waiting

It kinda sucks to be the person on the thread that people hate to agree with. I know I've been very vocal, and that has clearly annoyed folks.

I pressed for more information regarding firmware updates and hosting even after I had already requested a full refund. I also spoke out vocally in regards to the firmware in an attempt to save group buy members from waiting on boot loader code that would never be finished.

I did so because I misguidedly thought it would help others in the group buy. It was stupid to make posts asking for information I didn't personally need.  What the fuck to I care anyway if people waited a couple weeks for miners they could have gotten sooner? Why should I give a shit about hosted miners when I don't have any?

I realize now nobody cared about that crap and I helped nobody. I basically just wasted my time and made a pest out of myself. I should have just kept my mouth shut, and ask ONLY about MY funds.

I'm not owed very much money for assembly but I still want my fucking money.

Hey Steamboat - Can you just please refund me so I can get the fuck outta here?! I sick of this crap.

So I received my miners (no late shipping refund yet) and 3 of the 4 are mining away happily at 350MHz. The fourth kind of sucks. It doesn't stay mining consistently and the fan stops randomly. Even with a separate fan blowing directly at it it does not stay active. It doesn't overheat as far as I can tell, just goes dead and stops mining. Weren't these supposed to be tested before shipping? Also, I never received the 4 extra chips that I ordered. I have emailed Steamboat about this and am wondering how long it will take to get a response. In the meantime, anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this thing myself? Would it be worth it to remove and reinstall the heatsink and fan? Or is this more likely a circuitry problem? Maybe firmware? I am willing to buy the pickit programmer if it would help. I welcome any ideas.

See what happens if you run at 340mhz maybe the one unit doesn't like 350mhz.

I guess I should have been more clear. The 4th miner exhibits the same behavior even at stock speed of 282 MHz. It also crashes cgminer when it is connected along with the other miners and recognized by the program. I have tested each miner individually and with the others and this one is the only one that shows any sign of having these problems.

All I'm saying is pitchforks come out.  Steamboat makes an appearance.  We all are happy.  Then we get agitated with no action.  Repeat cycle.

For some, this is acceptable, others not.  I was previously in the acceptable phase...  I was under the false assumption that the assembly refunds were a lengthy process until i did a little scooby doo research.  I get that people are assholes and those who were not part of the G.B. submit requests for "their" chips/assembly/hosting when they don't deserve it just to cloud up his records and to potentially "score". I have not seen any legimate G.B. from the point of refunds announced to actually getting them exceed 2 weeks.

I know there was a risk going in this G.B. as if we could make a killing with Avalon chips prior to the heavy hitters coming online. We obviously lost due to Avalon delays, steamboat made the best out of it he could so far since he went far above and beyond with getting all aspects of the production/parts/assembly/hosting/manpower ready before the chips arrived.  He created real miners with Avalon chips as promised.  Heavily involved with the Klondike project.  All of that I believe deserves some real respect/kudos.  I totally respect him for this.

However I am stumped as refunds for assembly seem to beyond his current scope?

Anyone know what the thermal resistance of the goop SB used on the miners is? (Or even just what kind/fab)

Also I bought myself some fans http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/FFB0912VHE/603-1430-ND/2560554 to replace the stock ones.

Think they may make an impact on overclock headroom? At least there will be more noise Wink
