I think crime has always been around, yes it might make ransomware easier but that still isn't the first time ransomeware has been around... It just makes it slightly easier I guess haha
In addition ransomware,  bitcoin is also used for a variety of illegal acts. Many of those who can not think positive, bad people today use bitcoin because it is anonymous. They use it so that it can not be traced and investigated by the police. There should be a Rule made so that future users who use bitcoin illegally can be prosecuted legally.

What??? Come one you can't blame Bitcoin for all of the criminal activity. Many other factors would have affected the number of crime. I mean how could Bitcoin have affected all of these crimes? It is not plausible. But you must remember that even good things can be abused for a crime.

True.
Of course the wrongs of the world is clear but we must instill in our minds that the individuals itself is responsible for that bad things. Bitcoin has no mind to tell if ut is right or wrong, the problem don't lie on whether it is digital or fiat, things are not the one to blame but the people who uses it. We humans must put up a stand on our own immorality.

See bitcoin has more benefits than the traditional fiat system and thus everyone prefers to use the best and convenient thing for him. Criminals were using fiat and some of them might be using bitcoin or altcoin today but does that mean fiat or crypto is good or bad? I don't think so. However, I am worried about government's stance on this point and they can literally use this reason to restrict bitcoin.

We can't deny that during the initial days bitcoin was much used on illegal activities and transactions. This eventually got changed, yet there are people who misunderstand it in a negative manner. So what I think is that people need faith or trust only then one can be a part of the cryptocurrency. Until then only the negative part will be visible for them.

I think this is a perfectly justified claim. Agree, it is very convenient to remain anonymous, it is impossible to track the address, and the transaction is irreversible ... it's just perfect for money laundering, sponsoring terrorism. ... all this has the opposite side of the coin.

It's not completely anonymous it could be tracked because the sender and the sender could track which addresses are coming in, the challenge is where does it go to and who owns it. They call Bitcoin pseudo-anonymous for a reason and that could be a thing to be slightly knowing what is what and whos is whos. It's just how the owner treats Bitcoins.

Crime occurs because of the opportunity with bitcoin many people who misuse transactions such as illegal transactions made through bitcoin because bitcoin itself is anonymous so many invite from the crime to conduct illegal transactions without being noticed by the government.

Yes i think there is a relation because of bitcoin nature as an anonymous currency usable online and offline it might have increased some online crimes like cross-continent drug dealing and with no ID's and evidence.  And so some criminals had the idea of using bitcoins to use bitcoin in their crimes.
quite agree with you with its anonymous nature it can be used by criminals and can be used for criminal purpose...
it has no limit of countries or continent can be used worldwide and has wide range of users around  the globe so, you can make it for any type of global business either it is legal or illegal.

I don't agree with that because even before the advent of bitcoin, have they been able to curb crime, they devise ways to discourage movement of cash, still they could not stop crime. They come again and said any money above $10000 is money laundering yet they couldn't stop crime. What I see is someone trying to find a way to give bitcoin a bad name is other to slow down its process and popularity among the populace.
We should accept it that because of the anonymity of bitcoin we can't prevent having a bad image for bitcoin because of that feature it is being use in the black market to transact different illegal transactions like buying illegal drugs, firearms, services and so on and that is because of the anonymity and it means that they can't be traced so i think we can't do much thing about different negative thoughts about it.
Yeah that's right but now there is some bitcoin wallet requires verification, whether they are trying to eliminate anonymity so that people do not think that bitcoin is much used for criminal activity this is the hard thing we are against to make people if bitcoin isn't only used for criminal activity.

although bitcoin wallet requires verification, its not stop for people to using for illegal activities because they can use other way to gets verified. the only thing that we can do is by using bitcoin for good purpose and not related with illegal things so we don't have to break the law if someday bitcoin is legal in our country and we can still using bitcoin for safely.

https://www.deepdotweb.com/2016/01/23/bitcoin-playing-an-increased-role-in-crime-europol-says/

Would you believe that the existence of bitcoin has increased the number of criminality in  some countries in the world. This is the issue that was being thrown by the EuroPol and the UK Metropolitan Police. According to them bitcoin has played a huge role on the increasing criminality in their area. They added that a huge number of cybercriminals were using bitcoins in their activities.

This just shows that as bitcoin develops both advantages and disadvantages will tag along.
Yeah I do believe that. Because Bitcoin is transparent so that no one can control Bitcoin and that's why criminals like using Bitcoin to fund. And because of that, there are a lot of countries all over the world do not accept Bitcoin, they don't want to risk their country just because of an e-currency

The thing that really strikes the temptation button in the mind of a criminal is the idea that they can be hidden in cryptography, safely veiled (they think) from law enforcement etc.  So it isn't truly BITCOIN creating crime, it's just than criminal - minded people like to hide.   Roll Eyes

I don't believe in that.  I guess, they just blaming the increase number of criminality to the existence of bitcoin to ruin bitcoin's reputation and power.  There are lot of cybercriminals recorded even before the existence of bitcoin so, what is the point of connecting it to bitcoin.  Since more countries nowadays  accepted cryptocurrencies and bitcoin start to become trending in online world, maybe some people is looking for ways to stop it by blaming the increase of criminality to bitcoin.

Some concerns arise regarding the chances of Bitcoin being used by criminals because of its nature that can be spent on personal payments and can not be canceled. However, this opportunity has actually existed with cash payments and bank transfers, which have been in use for a long time. The use of Bitcoin will certainly follow the same rules that already exist in the current financial system, and Bitcoin will not hinder the ongoing criminal investigation. In general, new breakthroughs are usually considered controversial before the benefits are fully understood by the public. The internet is a good case example to illustrate this point.

Absolutely, I am not much surprised to see that some of my friends quote bitcoin as a criminal's currency. They have no idea about how it works and what the technology is all about. I keep explaining them the fundamentals of the bitcoin/blockchain technology but to be frank, it is very difficult for them to trust it as they often saw ads with multi fold returns through btc (by those numerous scam sites). I hope we will be able to build a good perception about bitcoin on a global level in next few years.

all currency is  succeptible to crime.. just gotta keep your eyes peeled for crypto scammers.. I learned the hard way by getting into cloud mining  XD

One of the problems is the crime. If we are talking about all currency it is subjected to a crime. There's a lot of scammers in this world. They are all shit. Nothing else they do especially stealing out our money. If they scam us they became happy because they got whatever they want. They must move to jail to teach the lesson. I suggest to use a highly secured wallet in saving your money to prevent this kind of problem.

All of this must be looked for handling. There should be a regulation that regulates bitcoin so that later each user can account for what they do. But I think there must be a very careful thought, because we know that today bitcoin is anonymous so anything done will be difficult to trace. For now everything looks hard to do.
I think all the major exchanges are taking these things seriously ,as they are strict about KYC and other verification and with the new regulations coming out ,i am pretty sure that it will be a mandatory to provide your identity if you are dealing with bitcoin and the biggest problem will be the privacy becomes a big factor as your assets will be known by the government.
Nothing that cannot be solved by doing face to face trades instead, or you could earn or mine your coins instead of buying them, or after buying your coins you use a bitcoin mixer, like chipmixer and then governments cannot know where your coins are.

A lot of things can be said about criminal issues regarding Bitcoin. The fact is that to date not only hackers who hack into state institutions, extort fees for their activities in Bitcoin, but at the same time, even illegal drug and arms trafficking, also spreads through the Internet and with payment in the crypto currency. Such cases are encountered very often. This should be avoided.

Much better to just buy bitcoins to be quick particularly if you are going to invest because it is always good to be as early as possible but if youre earning huge amounts can't

argue with that lol. imo its not a problem if the exchange requires you to comply with their kyc unless you will be doing some not so good stuffs. recognizing on who did you send

the bitcoins to is very difficult in the first place. still pseudo anonymous to me
