I think less than <550-650 made the 20,000 cutoff.

I just got off the phone with the guy at terrahash.  It made me a little bit uncomfortable because the guy answered the phone with just a hello, like I was calling him at home.  He did tell me that they had already placed orders for 20K chips, not 10.  The second order of 10k was made a few days later, and the chips would be arriving a week or so later after the first 10k.  He also told me that orders were reserved by when you PLACED the order, NOT by when you have PAID.

He mentioned that he had not been on the forums much today to see the questions here.  So all in all, Im still a little nervous.  The Indian gentleman that I spoke to on the phone seemed nice enough, but I know if this were my business, I would be glued to this forum and dealing with any issues that may come up... it is the main source of revenue.  I also think that orders should be reserved by when you PAY.

Also need to take into account some order are assembly-only order, like mine Wink
I posted a question earlier about sending terrahash user-supplied chips earlier than his own chips but haven't seen a reply yet.

I also think that orders should be reserved by when you PAY.

I don't quite disagree with you since I did pay instantly, but that could be problematic for anyone paying by wire, no?  It sure would suck to get one of the first orders in and then be pushed back to the second batch just because you had cash in hand and had to wait 3 days for it to get transferred.

I tried to pay with my credit card, but the 'fraud prevention' wouldn't let me place the order. So fiddling around for 13 minutes trying to pay them put me in the back of the line. I didn't get an order number until I requested to pay with bitcoin. Stupid fraud prevention...

But I should be rewarded for having my shit ready to go and paying, as opposed to these douches that placed a bunch of big orders right off and not paying for them, and are now just trying to sell them

Say what you will, but paying in BTC would have solved this exact problem.

BTC orders should get priority in the order they were paid.

I understand why they might not do this, but BTC supporters should not be punished because of fiat problems.

In all fairness, the lack of protection with an as yet untrusted seller is a bitcoin problem, and that's why many of us chose not to use it and opted for paypal/CC instead.  I had the BTC and could have gotten the discount, but didn't because there wasn't enough trust yet and therefore required the protection.

So yes, solved one problem, by opening the door to another.  BTC is a great technology, its just not done growing yet.

Good to know I'm number 1044, but am not interested in tying up my money while waiting for the next batch.

Should we just wait till he says he has more chips order to then order from? Are orders from 550-1000+ just going to sit in a queue and wait?

Escrow is the solution for the problem you describe (if they would have offered it).  But I'll split the difference with you:

Require a BTC deposit to reserve a position in the queue and deduct it at fair value from the fiat payment.  The deposit could live in escrow if so required.

This approach would have the added benefit of filtering out many fake orders and using BTC transaction speed effectively.

Right now it seems that the written terms changed without notice: the 8 hour window became a 5 day window.  Which changes the risk profile quite a bit.

Agreed, TH could have made this process much more smooth with a (very) small amount of effort.

Yeah but you choose to be an idiot and wire transfer.....get a prepaid CC and pay through paypal.

You would only get 45 days Paypal protection. Prepaid cards are debit, not credit, therefore minimal if any protection from an issuing bank...
