Errr...they'll 'profit bigtime' easier if they delay the competition they are about to supply themselves with!
Yeah, true. Either way Avalon wins. :-/

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

The board is a factor but in my opinion it is not the biggest factor by a long shot. The biggest factor is asic actually shipping their chips instead of keep bull****ing us with their dog and pony show trying to delay it further while they mines more. I have zero trust in that shady outfit. Yes, the chips are a factor, but they shipped samples, and will profit bigtime from selling as many chips as they can, so... Errr...they'll 'profit bigtime' easier if they delay the competition they are about to supply themselves with! Maybe, maybe not. Keep in mind that chip sales will slow if they don't ship on a reasonable time frame. Moreover, its very hard to calculate the Net present value of these chips over the next few months, let alone years as there is no telling where difficulty will be. Keep in mind that BFL is also offering chips now, you know of KNC miner, and there will be more outfits to arise in the near future as well. I think the safe and smart move for Avalon is to ship ASAP; most businesses would agree also. The possible reward with holding and using chips is very high, but so is the risk factor....I can't really put a number on it due to the amount of unknowns in the equation, but neither can you...and neither can Avalon...so the best move is to take money in the hand.

Terrahash did the right and wise thing by out of stocking the products page for now. They surely dont want to become like BFL, and get in that rut.
Still wonder how they will proritize who gets in on first batch. Could be by account registration dates, or who paid in full first, or who paid and how....or by actual order que. They may just start shipping us all at once as they have said the second batch of chips should be coming in shortley after first batch, making everyone basically ship within the same time frame. They do still have a lot of work to do prior to the chips arrivng and actually getting the final boards ready for production. So maybe we are all in the first so called batch?...lol that would sure keep a lot of the squabbling down in here......and there in box quiet.....

They already indicated that shipping will be based on paid order queue. Those in the queue had until this weekend to pay to hold their place in line.

Ya I have been assuming that was going to be the case, dont recall seeing it said that way but I may have missed it. lol, Thanks. I did see the paid by friday rule however. Im sure they will do their best. Who knows after all is said and done we may be surprised that many will be in or maybe all? I'm in the mid 700's only after seeing my low 500's lag out when processing paypal...so like a dummy I started new orders from scratch until they went thru and went back and cancelled the earlier numbers, when I should have waited on them. Oh well hind sight is 20/20 lol. Im sure many have a similar story with paypal that day.

Have you seen this thread? It has all the info we know regarding order status at Terrahash.

Have you seen this thread? It has all the info we know regarding order status at Terrahash. I do rememeber seeing that and was getting ready to start looking through the post again! Thanks for the link. This does make me wonder on the time frame in which TH accidentally opened up to the public for a breif period. IF they will consider those who may have ordered due to that occurence, and move those orders if any? to the back of queue.... afterall it was a special invite to those of us who registered early and had been waiting etc, and they could varify those orders and weed out pretty easy I would think..that would be the fair thing to do,,sorta maybe? Just my opinion. Here's that statement: * TerraHash opened for pre-orders on June 18th at 9AM PST. TH said ordering was supposed to be open only to early subscribers for the first 24 hours, but at some point became open to all.

Under the circumstances, when do you guys (& TerraHash) think I would be able to stack more modules in my Large? I have 2 but people ask me to add for them too...

Just speculating. But I think once they have a verified board design, assembly, and shipping starts on the first 40,000 chips they may open it up again. So maybe August? They did say they will open it up for assembly only services. So, if you can get ahold of your own chips that might be a quicker way.

You bought a large with only funds for 2 boards? That's interesting.
I signed up for hosting, but if I didn't do that, I'd probably build a lego case, and use a 420w corsair PSU

lego's ftw! Exactly. I really wanted to order a case and add modules later, but couldn't justify it to myself based on the amount of hashpower I could get for just the cost of the case. Legos to the rescue!

+1 When I was ordering I did not have enough funds to order more. even though I will have more available funds to add on to my order, I really hope they don't do this. I hope that they just allow people to put in more orders when they open it back up, but not add on to an existing order. It would be logistically more complicated for them to try to track what part of the order was put in originally and when each addon was done and ship in order, and allowing someone to add more modules but keep their whole order shipping based on when it was first placed would screw other people over. We originally ordered whatever we wanted to/could afford/thought was worth the risk; we shouldn't be able to add more later because our circumstance changed, eat up more chips, and push everyone behind us down the line and someone into the next batch.

Yeah, I believe any new orders will go to the back of the queue. I will order some more myself once I see a working product shipping. That was the only reason I didn't buy more. I expect to go to the end of the line with any new items I want to add.

As others said, I decided to incrementally scale modules in order to minimize my risk - furthermore I divided my initial investment half in TerraHash and the other half in KNC.
If the project will prove valid I will add more for me and for some people interested (which I have them as possible customers). I wanted to be 100% sure before I invested their money and I explained to them the drawbacks in this case (possibly less returns).
I will have them hosted in TH because it is more convenient for me this way (avoiding customs, shipping to Europe, possible extra taxes etc).
