How much onion coins does member rank get? I read somewhere that you get 1.000-2000 coins, that doesnt sound right to me...

I don't think you will get an Onion just by ranking up here. If you read something or somewhere or you hear anything about getting 1000-2000 onions,

you must prove it here. Post that article or try asking to the Dev. You can get that amount of Onions by participating the airdrop but it depends on your rank in

BTC. Have you apply for the airdrop?

While it's true that you have to post at least 10 posts a week to be eligible for the airdrop, there are clear rules.

The posts have to be of QUALITY, so that it does add value or else you will not be eligible for airdrops. And your posts don't have to be in this thread. They can be in any thread on this forum, as long as the majority is not in the off-topic section.

The rules can be found in the ANN, so you can check them to get better informed.

the best bet for your friend would be to register on the DeepOnion forum, and then opena support ticket. That allows a one on one interaction with a mod. It will ensure your friends request isnt overlooked and you can reply directly to the mod if there are any questions. Good luck with your application!

If you try to post just to have the 10 post count, I can guarantee you that you will not be validated for the airdrop.
It must be rich posts.
Some people spam the last days just to reach 10 per week. It won't make them join if they do that.

And to answer your question, you can post wherever you want on the bitcointalk forum. What matters is that you show some interest in the discussions, and add value.

Your friend have to prove to the Dev's the he is deserving.
- By supporting deep onion campaign.
- Be active here in the community at bitcointalk.
- Be active in the DeepOnion.Org
- If you can create blogs about deep onion. The better.
- create quality posts that bring ideas to the community and the Devs.

Once your friend has proven, try applying again, as the dev's can see the effort the your benefits to the community.

You can get Onions by participating in the airdrop. 1000-2000 coins is not true - it all depends on your membership level.
If I remember right last airdrop a person with member rank received ~675 Onions.
But yeah you are particially right about 1000-2000 coins and more.
There is a multiplier (3-5x) which is for moderators but I think if you are one of the best members in the community you can receive
it either if you are a moderator or not.
But I'm not sure about that.
