It's really hard to keep up with this thread. Of you miss one day then you have to read through 30 pages!  We probably need a new topic  That's how active we are here, you do back reading if you do not want to miss something, the good thing is we are all talking some ideas about the updates or news that would only benefit all of us here. I am happy to stay in this thread, I read a lot of helpful information and it only make me trust DeepOnion more because of the active community. |

Is there any added value in making another wallet backup just because of upgrade to a newer wallet version or even because of change of the balance? I made of course a backup after the first installation of the wallet, but I have not generated any new address afterwards, so the number of private keys is also still the same. The balance has changed since the time of this initial backup, but as the private keys are still the same and the current balance is stored on the blockchain, it should be visible correctly even using this initial backup, correct?
If that is actually the case, then there is no need to make another copy. But hey, the file is only 15KBytes or less. It does not harm to have more copies (preferably in several locations!). make sure to encrypt your wallet with a pasword before saving coins to OneDrive or similar locations. I make weekly backups of all my wallet.dat files. I add the date to filename and name of coin e.g.: wallet-ONION-20171016.dat that way you can go back in time, just in case of big disaster somehow. Thanks for confirming my thoughts. Just wanted to be sure as the topic of wallet backup is quite critical. And fully agree with you that it makes sense to have more copies of the backup. One day, such backup can be extremely valuable. Personally, I would not feel good after saving the wallet backup to some cloud, even when encrypted, definitely prefer cold storage. |

Just tested out the DeepVault feature. It is pretty handy to verify if the file is authentic. DeepVault was introduced in DeepOnion V1.3 wallet, wich can be downloaded from the offical web.
