Hi everyone,
I used the contact page at FinCEN and have sent them this message.
Can we all send them similar messages (please refrain from abusive language etc). We need to try to solve this issue. If this does not work, we can then think about other steps and actions.
I have done likewise as follows: To whom it may concern It is my understanding that on July 25 2017, the BTC-e domain, assets and customer funds were seized by the FBI. It was also my understanding that the rationale behind this action was that BTC-e was at the time believed to be owned and controlled by Alexander Vinnik (indicted for numerous financial violations including AML). The exact same indictments against Vinnik were mirrored to reflect BTC-e's purported complicity. I am aware that the association with Alexander Vinnik has been contested by BTC-e and the substance defining the association is now in question yet the indictments against BTC-e remain. I have used the currency exchange intermittently for several years and have been unaware of any violations. Indeed, the very fact that the exchange has been openly operating unchallenged since 2011 allayed any concerns. It is my opinion that most BTC-e users share my nativity in this regard. Internet related international corporate legislation has become such a complicated evolution of highly specialised thinking and precedents that it is difficult even for the companies involved in such sectors to remain up to date with legal operational requirements. Because of such complexities one would reasonably assume that legal action would be preceded by serving of non-compliance notices. It is natural to assume that one of the largest and public facing exchanges is running with full legitimacy. Furthermore, with regard to its user base, although many have some experience and knowledge in respect of the technical and financial intricacies, I believe that the legal position and jurisdiction in relation a globalised internet based hi-tech financial institution is totally beyond the understanding of the majority of users. I realise that, as with many systems including fiat markets and cash there are opportunities for exploitation by criminally minded individuals and organisation. This does not however mean that all the users of such facilities, nor indeed the facilities themselves are complicit in such abuses. I myself have acted transparently and never tried to hide my identity, indeed I provided BTC-e with relevant KYC documents to facilitate funding deposits. Everyone who faces the uncertainty with regard to the fate of their money has their own story, as for myself the funds were part of a saving's strategy to fund our son's education and future needs. In my opinion, the majority of the exchange's customers have become unwitting collateral victims. I would assume that there are safeguards to protect innocent people in our position. So far there has been no statement indicating the position with regard to our money. This state of limbo perpetuates an unhealthy anxiety for us and our families and although logic and justice suggest that our investments should be ring-fenced and safeguarded in a fair world, we would seek re-assurances from FinCEN, the FBI and the US government that this is the position. I therefore urge you to consider the above points and provide us with a statement of reassurance that our positions are being protected in a fair and just manner. Yours Faithfully

That sounds pretty bad. How do you know there wasn't much in those accounts? As far as moving money into or out of the exchange, it was always through Mayzus and/or Okpay. But that doesn't tell us what entities hold most of the exchange's fiat money, and if it was at risk of seizure. Crazy times... Well, I remember of a statement of them saying that they never holding clients funds. from everything i can gather, it seems that they likely hold/held fiat money in various shell companies several degrees removed from the exchange itself. i believe BTC-e never held bank accounts in its name. they had people transfer fiat through various intermediaries (involving Mayzus Financial) but i would think that the money is a bit harder to track than that. and hopefully out of reach of the US feds.

when you transfer something on btc-e exchange, it is no longer yours. They give you a remote to do something with it, but that's about it.
so, all who had something on btc-e, return is based only on a good will. Or luck. Or Russian steel balls. Divine providence. Call it whatever you want.
So far, i choose to believe them. Time will show.
Everybody involved should keep calm and wait, pissing around with lawyers, mafia, baseball bats and so on, makes you look like 2yr old girl who lost her favorite blanket.

basically. russian steel balls is our best bet. if they weren't russian, i'd have considered this over days ago. but for now, i still give it a small chance. probably less than 10%. there are still some problems here. even if they successfully evaded having much fiat seized (through various shell companies, less friendly jurisdictions, etc), how can they realistically operate a USD or EUR exchange at this point? they will be blacklisted. maybe they can just use Tether? is that possible? i guess maybe things like webmoney, yandex, etc might still work? not sure.....

Russian steel balls. I like that! Sigh---time will tell, guys. I have given up hope so that I can put my mind to rebuilding. It will be a long process. I kept almost all my crypto money on BTC-e. Live and learn! I always wanted to be ready to dump if necessary. Now I see it was not worth it. Good luck everyone.

btc-e.nz is registered to EUROSTYLE ADVISOR LTD btc-e.top is registered to EUROSTYLE ADVISOR LTD now btc-e.top redirects to exmo.com Our money are at exmo.com? Wow, that's actually very interesting. BTC-e.top was showing something like a BTC-e mirror. I thought it was a phishing site, but now I'm not so sure, if it's registered to the same company that registered BTC-e.nz (their Russian-facing domain). Even more interesting, I have always heard that there were connections between BTC-e and exmo..... Online sleuths, your job calls!

Silence is not helping btc-e owners.
Now users are making speculations and maybe they are on wrong path but sooner or later either users will find them or fbi will leak some more information and their life will be a hell if they are trying to run with people's money.
They can hide money but coins path will remain in blockchain forever

I would like to hear regular news from btc-e and not waiting like several days again. People need to have a good communication, otherwise we will run rampart again and come to misleading and frustrating conclusions and so on...

Are you guys still believe in santa? We will not get any refund from Btc-e nor US government . US government always interpret their own laws depending on their own interests and Btc-e owners right now are covering the tracks so they can run away with remaining funds, or they will offer the funds to fbi to avoid getting in jail. As I said before we need a new coin where, in situations like this, users can vote and in case of a majority will freeze the stolen coins until the exchange or authorities can prove which coins are dirty and which are legit. Somebody said that will be the end of crypto.I don't think so.Look at ethereum, they did roll back and the price and popularity compared to 2016 is huge. There are thousands of coins nobody is using so another useless coin will not be the end of crypto. I'm a trader not a programmer, but if somebody will make a coin that: - is based on some type of pos algorithm where stake will be very small 1coin or something very small to ensure everyone can take part
- generated coins will be awarded to a random peer(s) or some algo to ensure fair coin distribution
- a simple voting system so the community will decide in case like gox, btc-e or major software changes
If something like this is technically possible then I will be happy to make a donation to help development. Someone said that btc-e will refund us the 1st September. If that does not happen we must go there and smash them to get our money back. We are many so we can organize a huge group that neither the police can stop. I am not kidding, we must go there physically. We are thousands and they are just a few, so what's the matter? The reason they fool us and rob us is because we don't react, don't you realize? If someone gives you a punch and you don't react he will get confident and keep beating you harder. By the way what are the real names of btc-e operators? I hope this info is public since we give them thousands of $$ each

To go to which address? What names? Everything is hidden from the public. Maybe in Russia maybe in Panama...... Mayzus? Well he knows exactly to whom his companies were sending all fiat deposits but he is probably tied to legal contracts not to discuss that in public. But they all know (Mayzus, Deutche Bank, Cloudflare, Equinix datacenter.........) but not us, actual owners the most of BTC-e's fiat and coins.

If something like this is technically possible then I will be happy to make a donation to help development. That idea is interesting because owners of that coin could also act in a situation of 51% pool attack, at least by stopping everything until owners and miners could reach an agreement how to proceed. Let say that in dubious situations 25% of coin owners could initiate voting to stop all transactions and if more then 50% of owners vote for that then all transactions could be stopped making owners and miners eager to find resolution asap or miners could fork that chain

Jeebus guys cut them some slack, they've got a whole sack of turds to unwind right now.
Sample of the sack of turds btc-e have to address:
1) Find secure infrastructure away from the Feds 2) Rebuild all those fucking databases 3) Unleverage positions and work out how to compensate 4) Work out if re-opening is viable 5) Work out who owns what 6) Work out how to get fiat back to customers when no fucking bank will touch them 7) etc etc
Put the pitchforks back and give them some time.. pretty sure things could have worked out worse already, at least they made contact
