Why quit trading Lionel? we can do it in safe ways, with descentraliced exchanges
not against fiat currencies. attempts to peg cryptocurrency to fiat value are highly centralized, and usually depend on 1) centralized banking (like tether) or 2) a price floor contract. the former is subject to all pressures of the legacy banking system, and the latter is not sustainable, nor safe from third party exchange risk. decentralized exchanges and atomic cross-chain swaps will be great for trading bitcoin against altcoins. but when the entire market is falling and you want to hold dollars, then what? |

That's what I find most upsetting about all the people who say, "that's what you get for keeping coins/money on exchanges." The same people often turn around and quote prices from the major exchanges (who are all at risk of going down from a hack, for example). I get it, spread the risk around and take coins off exchanges when you can. I just wish people didn't seem to enjoy rubbing others' nose in it so much. |

I get that A lot of us still have pain from earlier exchange fiascos and new events dredge that up. Misery loves company. |
This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

YES, you deserve to lose your funds because you used an exchanger like BTC-e but I am not happy with that . It's just a lesson for "you". you = all you lost funds with BTC-e I am just smiling when I see how many sheep are around. "you" are keep using similar exchangers like BTC-e..... Bitfinex, Kraken, Poloniex, etc. I am the one who is saying that the era for unregulated exchangers is gone. if you have a tinny brain, you will realize that the anonymous shit you advertise is pure sci-fi. you blaim the banks but you love the cash. you curse the authorities but you turn to them when someone is "stealing" your funds  it's good to be hypocrite, right? I dont understand the word unregulated exchangers most especially after which you mention top exchangers that I believed to most reliable. Actually am not used to the BTC-e, not even those who stay around me |

The internet is full of fudders, so this shouldn't really come as a surprise. People right now make fun of others making use of unlicensed exchanges, but when the same people make use of licensed exchanges, the same fudders will then blame them for making use of centralized exchanges and whatever else. It doesn't really matter what happens, they will always find something to start spreading fud, make others look bad, etc. Ignore button is your friend. |

Long time lurker of bitcoingtalk and finally decided to register. I lost about 90K in ether. Fortunately the amount of fiat used to purchase it was very small. I'm hoping to be able to get the coins back but it seems unlikely.

Spreading around the risk (at least) is sensible. All exchanges are a risk. Unfortunately, BTC-E's API and trade engine were superior to all others. Metatrader and PAMM, and association with major brokers (FXOpen, Avatrade, Plus500, etc) also set them apart from other exchanges. Many investors, traders, miners and brokers -- large and small -- got caught up in the BTC-E seizure. |

As far as the current status is, it is very likely that either btce will relaunch with some ways to coupe with the losses due the criminal FBI heist or everybody gets refunded. How high this refund will be is not clear yet, but I believe the circumstances (bcc + btc pump) are very much in favor of a high percentage refund in the range 60% - 70%. Of course - for them had coins there - you will get coins bought for today's price, so less than before. In the next days they will publish what they are going to do or/and how much FBI stole. |

I think they have proven that they aren't pieces of junk already, unlike some people around here. They ARE coming back and you can return to the hole you crawled out from one that happens. We will see by the end of month. |

I warned for so many times agaist BTC-e and similar others. All these exchangers(unregulated ones) will be closed soon. it's a fact not FUD. I smile because i see MANY sheep around. |
