@phil / citronick and ofc any others
have you used an m2 adapter with the gigabyte 270 d3 / your opinions on m2 to pcie adapters for mining
+
pcie expansion slot adapters / anyone try it with this board yet?
I won't use a m2 breakout. I killed a board and a card due to a bad adapter. I have not had a chance to find some 1x pcie. to 3x pcie break outs. Citronick has the six slot Board he is going to send one to I may try to use it with a pcie splitter. I am not a big riser miner. I also don't need to split . I have ten mobos that can do thirty five cards with no risers I could do more cards if I go water block. I have two more water cooled cards on order. I may make a lot of water cooled 1070 builds over the next month. Because of YOU I have spent half of the weekend looking at watercooled GPUs lol. I have some radiators + plenty of fans + tubing + connectors from Habanero board mining days. I was looking at cards which do not have pump attached but are full waterblocks. Like this one: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigabyte-aorus-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-waterforce-wb-xtreme-edtion-11g-graphics-cardHow are gigabyte cards faring in terms of mining ?

I have bad experience using M2 adapters - tried to power them and it basically smoked and burnt the 4-pin adapter that was provided - that 4-pin molex adapter is of very low quality. Without using the 4-pin molex, I could get a 1070 working so I guess single 6-pin PCIE powered GPUs should be safer to use with this adapter without power (ie drawing power from board). Anyways, I have 12, 13 PCI slot mobos TB250 and H110 - so I will use those for high density rigs -- I don't need to use the M2 adapter. I think better use M2 as a storage link as per designed rather than using it for PCIE x1 - many things can go wrong. Phil - the office rang me this evening about a box from Shenzen arrived in the morning. I got some 4GB mSATA RAMS too - Pandaminer stlye. Will do the testing this week and send you a unit. Check YM.thank you at svk yeah water cooled gpu's look to be my next direction. I am getting a nice mobo from citronick may be 6 1070's all water cooler style

Phil.. what's your opinion about the lately drop in revenue on equihash? I'm mining also on nicehash and from about 8-9$ / day ( 6 x gtx1060 6gb) I get 5.5-7$ right now. Also if I check Awesome miner, ZEC is dropped from 1.5$-1.6$ / card / day to about 1.05$. Why this sudden drop|?

It wasn't by chance this model was it? https://minerparts.com/product/pcie-4x-to-ngff-m-2-adapter-with-4-pin-power-cable/I got a couple of those on order to use with Asus PRIME Z270-A (7 PCIe slots) boards, so that I can run 8x 1080Tis per rig. If the issue is just the 4-pin adapter provided, perhaps I can custom solder (been swinging an iron for 20+ years) my own cable (each rig is going to be powered by a Delta 2400W PSU). So I'd take one of the 32 6 pin to 6+2 pin cables that comes with the REV2-Ultimate kits, and replace the 6+2 pin connector with a 4 pin floppy connector, no?

Coin prices have fallen. Combine that with an ever increasing amount of miners and you've got your answer. Profitability is a function of the price of the coin you're mining and its difficulty. Simples.

By the way, Phil/Citronick, what are you mining XMR with, software-wise? I'm using Claymore because of mainly 1) good performance and 2) good watchdog functionalities (gives me more peace of mind).
However I've read it's quite power hungry compared to other miners. Been fiddling with XMR-Stak and SGminer but wasn't able to get a satisfactory hashrate and I kinda miss the built-in security functions Claymore offers.

XMR currently is best alternative, and with reduced power consumption and heat even better..... but with everyone now mining Monero, hard fork on 15th Sept to equalize the increased hashrate - its back to square one. I am currently mining ZEN, easy difficultly compared to ZEC - I get many coins. ZEN is about 7-8 dollars per coin at Bittrex. ZEN I am using Optiminer v1.7 smOS Linux for AMD RX, and ewbf v034b for the NVIDIA cards. For XMR, I rather put them to Nicehash because selling hash seems to be more profitable and I am collecting BTC (in anticipation of 5k breakaway soon) sgminer-gm-5.5.5-NH works fine in smOS and no DEV fee -- not sure about hash but its decent and stable, and also sgminer gives me failover pool capability under smOS vs Claymore blah blah and still with DEV fee. xmr-stak-AMD is newest miner and available in smOS -- but it has DEV fees.

The eagle has landed. ONDA D1800 BTC with integrated Celeron bare bones -- under 100 USD. The seller is from taobao and usually Mandarin speaking so I have no head or tails on how to order. I had to get one of my China contacts to help me get this out - pretty fast when dealt at local level. I will try and set this up this week and I will be sending a unit to Phil too so that he could further detailed testing. And yes.... there are 10 boards in that box Look at the spacing in between slots - I should have measured it but you can see the CR battery and the msata to visualize the spread... no way for 1080tis unless reference model or put 3 instead 6 -- for the rest like 1070 and 1060/P106 I think it will be easy peasy..... I got 4gb msata rams -- just enough for smOS Linux. you may need more for windows otherwise 4gb basic W10 should do too. well well well... what have we here - a POWER/RESET BUTTON and its in front how convenient 3 x sata and 3 x 4-pin molex ..... how do to make this work .... with a 1200w HP server PSU, PICO and BB solution

You can put the iron away and don't worry about those 4-pin molex power adapters. They go straight to the trash bin. At least in my experience with a dozen of Z270-A and Z270E boards and powered PCIe risers, you don't need to provide any power to the M.2 interposer card at all. Just make sure you fit it in the slot correctly so it does not shift sideways. Some (most) of the cheap interposer boards I've seen had PCB routing done way out of spec with the key gap being too wide. -scsi

Hope that at least some of the BIOS is not in Mandarin As for the 1200W server PSU with Pico... I think you going to need to wire up all of those extra molex connectors labeled as POUT# on the motherboard. Just by looking at the width of the copper traces on the board that lead to the connectors, I can tell they were planning on using those as power inputs, not power outputs (POUT?).

I will try the P106 first since they may work without additional power. Lots of testing on this board. I dont intend to mess with the BIOS, and just plug in the USB stick with smOS.... and see what comes up. If this truly a BTC board - it should work out of the box like the Asrock H81.

just got the third 1080 water cooled gpu this board is running 3x 1080 ti's 1x ryzen 1800x https://www.nicehash.com/miner/146UJM5kgzLVUV23CXCf33KQKHckoX1gx3lenden and the 7500t are two other cpus running xmr both most of the earnings are from the x370 board. while I am easy over energy i.e. 600 watts is 15 kwatts a day or 3 usd a day at my summer rates of 20 cents I earn about 8 so 8-3 = 5 bucks a day so the time has come to stop buying gear. in 1 month my power bill will drop in ½ so 8-1.50 = 6.50 a day which means very tight margins for now.
