"Molex" Male connectors are always designated as power Inputs and Female connector are always Outputs. Otherwise it will be way too easy to short them accidentally.

On this motherboard they mounted Male connectors (with pins sticking out) but marked them as outputs? WTF? Judging by the width of those power traces on the board leading to the molex connectors, they look like high current traces and not something I would lay out for fan outputs.

Everything seems to be made backwards. And no M.2 retainer hole?

Phillip,

I think you mistaken that plug, I was googling the 1800 board, finally found the one you were talking about, if its the Onda 1800 BTC, there is 3 power inputs, and 3 outputs. On all the aliexpress sales that sale the board and a case together, they have the power supply connected to the 3 INPUTS only and the fans on the case plugged into those 3 outputs.

I went ahead and ordered one of those 1800 boards to give it a try, i would much prefer not to have to use so many risers and cables on my rigs.

What case is that, Storx?
Looks perfectly fit for purpose as it's got just the layout needed in terms of space and airflow.
I'm really liking the idea of getting six Vega's lined up...

I will try it with no molex.

Maybe I am wrong.

still dead.

whether or not molex in or out.

But since  I know I put one molex in backwards  yesterday  and got a pop  its dead.

I am mailing this off to spotswood he is going to design a case for it.

Hi guys, i need help with my rig.
Long story short, I have 5 cards instead of 6 showing in windows and i don't know why. Huh

I don't want to hijack the thread so here is the link to the topic I made with more details, if some of you can drop by and offer wisdom, it would be much appreciated. Smiley

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2247989.new#new

i'm off but i'll read when i get back in a few hours.

Ty guys  Smiley

This worked on my Zotac P106 x 6, on older H81 mobo.

Before only 4-5 GPUs were recognized using latest NVIDIA drivers - then again, risers are probably also the likely culprit

Apply this P106 specific NVIDIA package - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-_jcpU1s5dgejJJZzBTWVFJYzQ/view?usp=sharing

You can push it to core 100, mem 800, PL 99 to achieve ETH 22-23MHs

small update here, got the 6 cards showing, i installed your driver (same ones as i have on my computer to mine with my 1060 6G)
I got others issues but fixed it.
Now, i have a new problem. Miner is not stable and it seems i can't OC to what you advise me to do.

here is the problem:

when i let the rig on and mining, at one point i get this :

http://imageshack.com/a/img924/8324/GOew4p.jpg

and/or this :

http://imageshack.com/a/img922/1346/KgYv9J.png

It's hard to screen because when miner crashes, it's laggy as fuck. It takes me like 3 to 5 minutes just to save the screenshot... next time i'm gonna use my phone and take pictures of my screen like a fucking retard Cheesy, way faster than waiting for nothing.

I read driver error somewhere (not showing on the screen i think). One time it lasted 4 hours, next time not even 30 minutes.
Do you have any idea what to do?

hmmm... on smOS, the rig is running 2 days straight with full OC (but XMR mining, 406watts last time I check)

Are you ETH mining? Dual or Single? for P106 - I think best to get to do ETH only (no dual mining).

Can you try non-OC settings 150 core, 500 mem and PL 65 ?

So hadn't much time to get into it last few days.

i'm eth mining. single. cards Gigabyte 1060 6G OC Windforce Hynix mem  Cry
I tried mining Zcash getting more or less 290 sols/card without any tweaking and it's stable. I Let it run for a day and not a single problem.
when I tried eth hashrate was dropping and finaly crashing, i was at PL 70 core -200, -100, +100 (tried a few to see if it changed anything, answer is not from what i saw) and mem+500.
I tried
+100 +800 = crash
-200 +600 = crash
anytime i try to go above +500, it seems it's not stable and eventualy crashes (real pain in the ass, btw)

Since i got no problem whatsoever with PSU when running Zcash, i guess it must be the GPU/drivers that are the issue?
Even with hynix mem i should be able to OC them to get 22Mh on eth i think.

I am unsure bud, i could not find a marking in any of the pictures to clue me in on it, it is listed with the $2000+ kits...

It appears to be a generic 4U server case tho, ive seen other server cases very similar, but not the exact one.

Could some of yall clue me in on whats all needed for the D1800 to get it up and running, im seeing some listings state DDR3 and others DDR4, so which memory are you using?

Board cooling?

What storage route did you go? i was thinking of using my USB w/ Windows 10 on it... just unsure how limited the board is on driver support and such.

In regards to power, was thinking of trying my hands on my first PICO powersupply on it, or is a normal unit better? I have a box full of the 1200w server psu's.

and I shorted my 6 pcie board  Angry

the board takes 3 molex
the board takes 3 sata

the molex are a bit loose they allowed me to easily put in one molex upside down  and pop goes a cap board is now dead.
I am going to mail it to spotswood so he can build a case for it.
maybe he can repair it .

so  be very careful of molex as it was too easy to put it in upside down

When you say the board takes 3 molex, does that mean you need to plug in molex cable to make it work? I have the same board. The second and third slots do not work. I see the pic from manufacture saying those molex are power output. I do not know what exactly this mean but I did not plug in anything there. Is that the reason those slots do not work?

I powered all 3 x molex and 3 sata.

All 6 slots working with smOS Linux.

1050ti with video out (1st slot) and 5 x P106-100

Confirmed all 6 cards working.

BIOS = 4G enabled.

Used these to get them working:

Memory
1. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/ADATA-DDR3-DDR3L-2GB-4GB-8GB-1600MHz-Ram-Memory-SO-DIMM-204-pin-1600-1333-For/32817678883.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.vAskE1

SSD
2. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-Kingspec-PCIE-mSATA-internal-SATA-MLC-8GB-16GB-32GB-Flash-storage-Solid-State-Disk/32587005048.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.vAskE1

But end up using USB3 for smOS Linux instead of Windows. No issues on WIndows 10 and WTG on the SSD.

For POWER - you need small ATX PSU to power mobo - 3 x molex, 3 x sata - and pcie to power GPUSs. In my case, the 1050ti has no need for external power and the P106 needs only 6 pin connection. 1 x standard ATX PSU should do the job.

oh man.... sorry to hear this - shit happens.

I appreciate the info bud, just have to wait for the motherboard to ship here, says 12-20days...

I was curious did you go 8gb on the memory or less? found some 8gb sticks on newegg for around $55 and what made you switch to USB over the msata if you already had the msata drive? just curious... i only have 2 usb3 drives, so if i switch my rigs over to this board it may cause issues as usb3 drives have increased in price recently...

are you sure you are applying power to all 3 inputs and all 3 outputs? most of the pictures i seen have the outputs being used to power fans... so slightly confused.

Lovely video, but that's starting out with a $3,200/$3,300 case/motherboard + processors + video cards + memory sticks.  Does address the PSU problem nicely and it says it was designed around cooling 8 cards.  Fans seem top quality, but very loud.  I think Yun9999's Rosewill versions with maybe only 6 1080 Ti's is a better deal.

I only use mSATA and SSDs for Windows rigs - which I have some mainly for UAT and dev stuff - they join mining in the farm when not doing testing etc.

I standardized on USB3 for smOS Linux and nvOC Linux mainly since last year - I have Sandisk and Kingston USB3 8gb, 16gb and 32gb (Win10 WTG).

Troubleshooting, installing and removing mSATA, SSD needs some downtime and using USBs is faster most certainly.

So in summary, easy for me to manage almost 66 rigs in the GPU farm.

You need the 3 molex, 3 sata plugged in to get all 6 slots to work -- the POUTS labeling is wrong.

I will use this D1800 board for low power GPUs and hopefully we get hands on the 8 x slotters soon for the heavy duty rigs.

Eventually --  targeting 80% riserless rigs in the farm - that's my long term goal.

Im with you on that, i went and priced out that server case, board, cpu combination and your looking at $3700+ before adding storage drive, memory, and gpu's.... seems a little excessive on the selection of parts...

Plus those MSI Armor cards are junk for mining, ive had a few of them and out of ALL the 1080ti's ive run to date, those cards run soooo hot unless you detune them and up the cooling when on air, just poor hash per watt output.....

Im personally saying the D1800 may be a better option....granted if it works and is reliable enough... so hopely when mine comes in i can get it up and running.. im seriously thinking of just converting my entire operation over to water.. do away with the smaller expensive D5 pumps ive run in the past and just up it to something like a tub pump or something more, because with ekwb coming out with the aluminum line of watercooling, those blocks are only $89 compared to $160 copper versions on the 1080ti's.... granted its a big expense buying all those waterblocks upfront, but it sure is nice being able to dump the heat outside and just store the machines inside without all the noise.

When i start rebuilding my mining operation when i get my insurance claim money, im thinking along the lines of an truck aluminum radiator or trying out an geothermal idea and just run the cards tell they fail since ill be investing in waterblocks for each one.

Yeah  just remember the molex only go in one way  do not make my mistake.

I  decided to play with  my biostar z170's  and the 1070 waterblocks  after I killed the 6 card mobo.

if you can get  1070's with waterblocks the z170's are really good with smos no risers 4 cards.

.....

Ah ok, ya i have just been using ssd's on my old rigs to replace the mechanical drives, but i want to go a different route this time over buying refurbished pc's to run the risers.. like you id like to get rid of all the risers if i could, they can be a pain in the butt at times, thankfully most of my issues were resolved via the hot glue trick, but ive still had issues with them randomly causing issues with the caps on them failing or cables running warm, which took a ton of time by hand soldering all the connections to delete the cable connections, but then taking things apart is a pain when i need to due to lack of connections.. i just love the reliability of all my indoor mining rigs in the past, but they are all on water and never computer equipment running them

Im trying to stay on Windows if i can, since awesome miner is only on window currently... Im very happy with the awesome miner program over the past 6 months, i still profit switch, but i only do it on an hourly basis now... but i mine directly to bittrex using the auto-convert program they have to BTC, its been working out well for me for months.. way higher payouts than nicehash, zpool, or MPH... granted mining directly and exchanging yourself when prices increase is able to net more profit, but i tried that for a month and after looking over my numbers, i was loosing money due to coins loosing value randomly and taking forever to return back up...

Frankly.... my S9,A721,A741 (396 units) are contributing nearly 70% of daily takings. GPU farm is less than 10%. All my Scrypt and X11 Asics are at Prohashing and for now, I choose to be paid in ETH and LTC to maximize the current surge in ETH and LTC -- otherwise I switch to BTC payment.

I  decided to play with  my biostar z170's  and the 1070 waterblocks  after I killed the 6 card mobo.

if you can get  1070's with waterblocks the z170's are really good with smos no risers 4 cards.

As I recall both EVGA and MSI make some with waterblocks, and there are plenty of aftermarket waterblock kits.

I do find the "Seahawk" model name a bit irritating, but that's personal. 9-)

I'm starting to move TOWARDS more riser usage for cooling reasons - my 3-card rigs that ran reasonably cool while folding are running the cards a LOT hotter since I moved them to ZEC mining - but if I put the "middle" card on a riser the cooling improves dramatically.

Just built up my first rig with the ASUS B250 "Mining Pro" board (the one with 19 slots) as an experiment - more due to ease of multi-PS management than that I plan to USE anywhere near that many slots.
Only major issue I had with the build turned out to be my own fault - I'd forgotten the Aorus 1080ti needed 2 x 8 pin power, not 8-pin + 6-pin - so now I've got a floating Aorus that needs a new home (I'll probably swap it for the Gigabyte Windforce in another machine).

Due to power supply and infrastructure limits, each "part" is going to end up with 2 x 1080ti and either a 1080 *single-power connector" model or a 1070 on the motherboard for the 3'd card.
Up side - EVGA "dual" power cables have wide enough spacing to be able to mount the riser boards far enough apart for good GPU cooling (4" centers NOT a problem, could go a bit more if I had the space).

Looks like EVGA will be getting more of my GPU purchases in the future, as they have what I consider to be the best 1080ti model that does NOT need 2 x 8-pin power AND they love double ball-bearing fans.

I just wish NewEgg/Rosewill would quit wasting money on those "SATA-PCI-E" adapters in their risers, and either "don't include the stupid dangerous adapter at all" or worse case switch to SATA-Molex.

Time to start building out some of my older hardware and lower-performance GPUs as "gaming" systems and sell them on Craigslist....

im curious if a 1070 would do well with a Kraken G12 kit, my rig i had the 4 x 1080ti's with kraken G12's had awesome core temps while mining, but the VM's sat in the low 90c while mining.. would maybe make for a budget option if its not as hot of a running card as the 1080ti's
