Stupid FUD spreaders. Again shut up.
FUD is deliberate, most people here are just expressing negative opinions based on past experience.  There have been a lot of scams in crypto, so when something starts looking shady/sketchy they will assume the worst.

Why would they use bogus admin contact info in the Whois? Off the top of my head:
www.coindesk.com/canadian-bitcoin-exchange-hit-armed-robbers-police-say/amp/
And they’re probably avoiding taxes. I avoid taxes. Can’t hold that against them.

Yes they may have put a fake name in order to avoid being kidnapped by robbers and theives.
Or they put a fake name to avoid being kidnapped by angry vigilantes   Wink

In any case, we ask why do they simply not have a twitter or discord to keep us calm?

No matter how many times people here tell others its going to be up. It isnt....You can curse, slander, shame any who say otherwise but they will always trump it because....It isnt up. Until it is, have fun being a broken record. People can and will have every right to complain. All the people who are just so angry over it, you just look infantile with that tiny violin you keep trying to buy. Shit sucks, yep. Sure does. Your defense about CM and its troubles fall on deaf ears. They have had plenty of time.

You have the right to complain. But a lot of people are upstructing the process coinsmarket to come back online. I too have some money there, but looking at some reactions here the past weeks I hope those people will lose all their coins they deserve it.

They deserve it? No they don't. You are basically saying theft is ok as long as it fits in your ideal. All it takes is transparency...Their loyal patrons don't get it. No accountability, everything is someone else's fault with CM. I guess that is ok and they deserve to be stolen from if they get upset. This is exactly why everyone gets so hesitant when starting with crypto. It will never get the respect it needs this way. All this is doing is showing all the insurance companies that want to back these exchanges why its such a bad idea. That is a very very very bad thing and its halting progress in this world.

There really isn't anything backing it's value like gold or silver. They arent redeemable by any legitimate banking institution either. The only way it can be tied is if basically everyone agrees it so.

Unfortunately it was my first contact with CM that went horribly wrong. Large investment in BTC disappeared (so far). Is there any avenue to lodge a complain or at least get some exposure in wider media? Is it really such a small matter that nobody with access to wider public doesn't care? Even if all is lost victims of that event should not just get over it. So far I can only think of internet fraud branch of federal police in my country. Will be grateful for any advice.

Apparently the contact info is fake. The Hosting company said they would comply with any legal recourse by people, but no one has issued a subpoena. Gandi wont act until they do for confidentiality policy.
