Hi,
I never had problem importing with API and Coinbase until today.
Suddenly when I try to import via API , Cointracking is displaying "invalid key",but I didn't change anything and when I go to my Coinbase settings to check the key, it's the same one I use since the beginning.
Is there something dealing with the API version,in the Coinbase settings I see the API version 2018-01-11 and a upgrade button ?
I just imported trades from Gdax with no prob ,if someone experienced the same prob or knows what I can do to fix this I would be thankful;)

Create a backup of your transactions before doing this. Delete the API key in CT and CB. Recreate it with a start date after your last successful import. Technically, setting the start date shouldn't be necessary as CT apparently ignores potential duplicates based on the Coinbase TXN ID but better safe than sorry. If it all goes wrong, just restore from backup.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Thx for helping,I'm gonna backup everything before doing something.
But I just don't understand how to recreate a key with a special start date, the first time I created it I don't remember about such a setting( is it on CT or CB ),or is this something linked with the API version upgrade button I was talking about with  2018-01-11 date ?
Sorry if my question looks weird ,I'm a newbie with API stuff but I'm happy to learn more Wink

Read some previous posts) Yes. Cointracking ALWAYS works strange. Wrong or missed imported data, wrong balances, sometimes errors during importing data... But, despite all this annoying details i don't know more powerful instrument to analyze my deals. Often with manual checking (for example as with last Binance crash) Not every time there is the cointracking problem. Mostly exchanges API or some inside problems.

Mining is one of the EASIER things to keep track of using cointracking.info.  Based on the "Date" you enter, CT will calculate the price on the DAY YOU MINED THE COIN, effectively keeping track of your cost/price basis (when you do sell, you will have capital gains) AND keeping track of your mining profits which you will report as self employment income (Schedule C) in the year you mined the coins.

I do some of the same, but I lean on Excel a bit more to check my entries against the import file.

You don't have to file this as a Sch C. (I borrowed this from Turbo Tax Forum)

When you mine the coins, you have income on the day the coin is "created" in your account at that day's exchange value.  You can report the income as a hobby or as self-employment.  If you report as a hobby, you include the value of the coins as "other income" on line 21 of form 1040.  Your ability to deduct any expenses is limited -- expenses are itemized deductions subject to the 2% rule.

If you report as self-employment income (you are doing "work" with the intent of earning a profit) then you report the income on schedule C.  You can fully deduct your expenses (if you can prove them) (see later).  The net profit is subject to income tax and self-employment tax.

So I file the income as Hobby Income as I net out better than filing a sch C.

Yes, but if you make TOO much mining, the government is not going to buy that this is just a hobby.  I don't know what that figure would be, but probably approaching $10k it would no longer be considered a hobby??

I do very little trading and am mining.

I can download a CSV from here that contains all my payouts with the transaction ID, date, time, and amount:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/lux/

What I want to do is upload that CSV into cointracking and have it add the USD value of each payout then let me re-save the file.  This is for tax purposes.

Thanks.

First you have to create the API key on CB. Make sure you keep both the key and the secret.
Then create an import on CT. You will need to put in the key and secret you created on CB here. There are a few options when you create this. One of them is a start date that will only import transactions after that date.

If the GDAX API auto importer is suppose to be importing all your data history it is not working.  I have done it correctly but something is broken or it doesn't handle that much trade history.

Either way it is not working.

I haven't had a single wallet import work that requires a CSV, they all come back saying the timestamp is wrong.  No, I didn't open them first.  Does anyone know the CORRECT format these need to be in for Cointracker?  You'd think this program would have that somewhere in the FAQ but Noooo.

I'm starting to wish I would have just done this with a spreadsheet.  ALL of my numbers are screwed up.  Angry Angry

download the template from https://cointracking.info/import/import_xls/

enter the details in the correct fields, for csv's created by wallets dont forget to replace the T with a space

open excel file and csv, copy amounts and dates into relevant fields (date, buy amount, buy curr) highlight all dates and search replace 't' with ' ' (space)

under type put IN for transfers Mining for mining then save and upload.

if it gives the same error redownload the original excel file open your modified one select everything copy and paste the values into the newer file save and upload do not delete rows or anything like that just paste over the examples

the really important thing is removing that T

I'm finally sitting down to sort out the 3000 trades I've done in 2017 and there are some problems. I really like cointracking and I realise I should have signed up sooner, but here I am trying to sort through and make accurate the trades I've made for the tax man. Most of them I'm able to fix and am working through thanks to the FAQs. One problem I can't seem to figure out is the prices for NANO on Binance. I've been trading this coin a bunch recently and the price list says it is worth $.06. This is wrong - it's $9.81. I tried to manually change the price that worked, but what about the historical prices? Is there something I can do to fix the real problem - that the market price for this coin isn't registering? Thanks!

Yes you right powerful and strange , with so many exchanges it’s really hard to keep track of the entry price , really hope they make improvements to this

Why can't I add attachments?

I wanted to post pictures of CoinTracking discrepancies.

According to my Binance trade history, I bough XLM at a lower XLM/BNB price then where I sold higher, but CoinTracking says I made an unrealized loss.

It seems like trade imports are inconsistent in general.

Fairly new to Crypto trading and CoinTracking has been an invaluable resource so far!  One question:  Today I wired $5k into my Gemini wallet and used virtually all of that cash to purchase BTC.  Then I moved the BTC from my Gemini wallet into my Bittrex wallet.  I then exchanged half of that BTC (or around $2500 USD) for XLM and the other half (again, around $2500 USD) for ZRX.  I entered all these transactions into CoinTracker and it all looks good, except I'm showing a NEGATIVE $4997 in USD.  Can you tell me what I need to do to correct this?  Thank you!

either add the deposit of usd or leave it, if you leave it you'll see your actual profit/loss which is useful. its all explained in the faq:

Create a backup of your transactions before doing this. Delete the API key in CT and CB. Recreate it with a start date after your last successful import. Technically, setting the start date shouldn't be necessary as CT apparently ignores potential duplicates based on the Coinbase TXN ID but better safe than sorry. If it all goes wrong, just restore from backup.

First you have to create the API key on CB. Make sure you keep both the key and the secret.
Then create an import on CT. You will need to put in the key and secret you created on CB here. There are a few options when you create this. One of them is a start date that will only import transactions after that date.

Alright,
I want to thank you for your help, everything is fine now Wink

Is it possible to refresh all my tasks at once? It is annoying that every time i want to refresh data i should go Enter coin - Exchange API import - Choose exchange - press Check. It is so simple to create one button "Check all", why i can't find this magic button?  Huh

One option when you set up the exchange API import is to have it execute automatically. This will execute the import once a day automatically. This way you don't have to do anything except hit the recalculate button when prompted when new transactions are added. If you don't do that then, yes, you have to click each import function individually. In my experience, magic buttons rarely exist in crypto Smiley

Hi,
I would like to open a Neon wallet to move my Neo and Gas out of the exchanges, and as i'm planning to use a Ledger wallet when i'll receive it ,this wallet supports Neon.
I can't see anything regarding this wallet in the API wallet import or even in Wallet import,i don't mind doing it manually too.
So is there a way to proceed with Cointracking and Neon wallet?
