I see a lot of optimism about bitcoin, which is understandable seeing the price recently.
Oh come on we've always been optimistic. I've been around since 2015 when the price went totally down and everyone started losing hope in btc.
Guess how much was one bitcoin for at that time ?
It was for $270 !
I guess that's enough optimism for me really
-Block size. Which makes the delay and fees of transaction rise very fast. Smaller transactions are more and more difficult to make.
This should be solved with time.
-The centralization of the market. China got low cost electricity, which make them by far the most bitcoin mining capable.
What ? There's difference between the bitcoin "market" which is exchanges, trades etc. And mining power.
The "market" isn't centralized in China at all. For example, poloniex is US-based. Bitfinex is in Honk Kong and others.
Regarding the mining power, it's debatable. But I can for sure say that this is not nice as it's supposed to be not centralized. But guess what , the whole world lives off China. All of our food, clothes etc are made there. It's just because of their low price electricity that mining farms are setup there.
Another thing: The Hard forks that are oddly getting much more frequent than before. (BCH, BTG, Segwitx2 etc...) It almost looks like "attacks" in order to divide us. Now called "airdrops" by the community. Even though they're supposed to solve some of the problems.
You were there when BCH split happened and you saw what happened after it to the price. You decide if these hard forks are actually of any danger or are worth getting called "attacks"
All in all, this makes me really worried about btc future. I've been a strong holder since 2014, and I made quite a lot of money with bitcoins, but I begin to doubt now, even though the price is crushing ATM. Please help me keeping faith. Or should I switch to another currency ? Really thinking about ETH recently.
You've been holding since 2014
Mate you totally aren't the one who should ask or make such threads as you made quite a lot out of it.
Switching to ETH ? No thank you. There's no much action over there. It's kinda constant.
Plus even if btc price goes down (which in my own opinion will happen after the BTG fork) what did you lose ? Nothing really nothing.
You've been through times when the price was much worse and you know what happens later, it skyrockets.
Later can range from days to months. It doesn't matter.
I see nothing to worry about the future of BTC because it unstoppable due to it's very useful and profitable uses. It is very popular today since many people interested to join and more investors trusted it for they believe that bitcoin is a good future investment. Even though it encountered hard fork but people not afraid to used it. Importantly, bitcoin does not need to win every battle to justify a sky high price. It still depend on the number of users of bitcoin.
