I must say, the current situation somehow feels familiar... The last time something went through the roof, it was the BTC/fiat exchange rate - and we all know what came after ~$250/btc.
Let's hope people do not get too crazy this time around. After all, people are just reacting on unofficial information not explicitly confirmed by friedcat, if I understood everything correctly.

I strongly disagree, this cannot be compared in my opinion. The reasons for AM to be valued like what we see by the market (justified or not is personal opinion) will hold for few months from now at least. I don't see much of psychology and immediate speculation/greed involved here, whereas it was strongly the case (and it still is) with FIAT/BTC.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

we hit 3.51 last night, I can see passing 3.7 before dividend day!
hmmm, I was right, once again. I guess I need to change this prediction. 4 btc by Weds, folks.

I also think that 4 Btc will be the new price, if it still gets higher after that I guess that there will be a correction. At least until we know the next dividend.

That graph on btct is having an erection!
Wonder if AMC folks are buying these to recover their loses :-)

a correction is certainly possible, but consider this, if the dividend is .025 (reasonable guess), and share price is 4 btc, that's a 32.5% APR, which is a fair valuation.
I think if APR drops much below 30%, then it is time to sell, but if it is above 30%, buy and hold.
So, if the dividend this week goes above .025, expect the share price to rise.

If dividends will suddenly flatten out starting now then sure, but Friedcat built ASICMiner to grow, and grow it does. Look at how dividends have been rising over the last year, then think about what the dividends might be over the next year. AM is still so undervalued it boggles my mind.

that's just how I value them, it is just my perspective. There are other investments, that in my opinion, are far safer just under 30% APR. So, if AM dips below that, it is time to sell. If they continue to stay above 30% APR, then I think they are a reasonable investment. Again, this is just the way I look at it.

So you price a Perpetual Mining Bond (shrinking dividends) the same as something with growing dividends, if they have the same dividend this week?

no, because the risk is different and the expected APR is decreasing. The 30% APR for AM is just for the level of risk I apply to them. If they had more transparency and some other things to reduce the risk a bit, then the APR could be lower. But, you know, you can get 25% APR with Bitlender, which is fairly safe, IMO.
