Ok thanks, I'm going to try cgminer 3.0.1. But why does this error occur out of the blue? It worked for days without problems.
If one end of the client-server relationship remains unchanged, and then something breaks, then one must point the finger at the other end. I think it's a way to put it. Even without errors now I'm getting hashrate ups and downs (gpu intensity falls to 0, then rises again) in eligius pool. Another pools work fine. Maybe it's time to get the next payout and changing pools then...

If some people are experiencing issues and not others with no pool side changes in over a week, then, well.... its either a very localized pool side issue that I cant replicate or a client side problem. Cgminer has known issues with GBT mining, so could be related and useful to point out since Eligius uses GBT and does not advertise an automatic switch to stratum. -Wk

Been using BFGMiner 3.0.0 and 3.0.2 and both give me the same error others are reporting. Hashrate down, shares not increasing, lots of problems getting work from server. Nothing has changed on my end. Rebooted miner, rebooted router. No difference. Can mine on other pools without any problems. Had been mining with exact same setup last week. If client didn't change, and pool didn't change... maybe something in-between did. Eligius is across the pond from me, after all. Glad to know it's not just me though

Same here. BFGMiner 3.0.0 and nothing but problems. I doubt it's the miner, since 50btc connects fine. Something is wrong with the pool end. You can even see the pool hashrate has gone down about 15-20%, just like my personal hashrate.

Still not having any problems myself, but wizkid057 and I are working on doing some upgrades to hopefully handle things better.

You can even see the pool hashrate has gone down about 15-20%
Not sure where you're getting this info. Definitely not my stats, as they show a pretty normal pool hashrate graph with the same hour by hour variance we experience normally.

At the time of posting stats showed about 1500 Gh/s, but I see it's gone back up. Specifically the problem is high reject rates on the stratum port, and GBT work requests are failing, so it falls back to GW.

I've been seeing a reduced has rate as well. I've been running bfgminer 2.10.6 for most of this month. Just switched to 2.9.6 just now(just to see if helps). Here is my hash graph as of right now. Any large dips are not downtime/throttling on my side.

I've been having some issues similar to what others have had intermittently both in CG and BFG, it will start out fine but after a few minutes all of my shares get rejected saying unknown work

Not sure how to get a log out of BFGMiner, but after running on Eligius 3334 overnight (at 260 MH/s) I get these stats:
A:1177 R:145 S:307
DW:718041 GW:532 LW:721826 GF:29 NB:50
Seems to me that Discarded Work is extremely high?!

Quite similar here: A:5612 R:296. Compared to my other miner on another pool: A:12211 R:42
(btw: already using the recommended 3.0.1 cgminer. I guess, it's really on the other end...)

I have also been having problems the last 3 days.
I have a linux system with two NVIDIA cards, mining with two instances of rpcminer, each pointed at mining.eligius.st:8337. I haven't touched the configuration of these miners in several weeks. Just in the last days, each instance stops finding shares (at different times) until I restart them, yet each instance keeps its GPU busy. This happens a couple times a day for each instance of rpcminer. Would it be worthwhile to switch over to mining.eligi.us? Or has your new DNS become stable?
I also have a new system, with a Radeon 7950. The system is in flux as I have switched off between Windows 7 and Windows 8. Having limited time, mining hasn't been my top priority, but I did configure the default Eligius pull-down server option of guiminer (v2012-12-03). It worked well the first couple of days, giving a fairly consistent 400 MH/s. But over the last three days, it reports incessant, but intermittent "connection problems". Eventually, it stops mining until I Stop Mining/Start Mining. The default Eligius pull-down uses poclbm, pointed at mining.eligius.st:8337.
I'll try BFGminer for the 7950, but that wouldn't explain the similar problems with my Linux system. The only things common between the two systems are the networks and computers from my ISP to your pool. It seems likely you have changed something on your end. Perhaps your new DNS provider or your new DNS configuration?

Now that I'm finally not a noob on this forum I can post this: me too! I noticed the weird drop-off in hash rate and frequent errors begin very suddenly a couple of days ago. I switched to the stratum port and things were better, but not great. Now it appears that the stratum port is fine but that the getwork/getblocktemplate port is still doing something weird and broken.
I'm running bfgminer 3.0.1 on Ubuntu 12.04, for the record.

And same here, for several days. Pathetic really. Was very happy with things running smoothly and then WHAM. Server stats went offline for part of the day today, like the web server crashed. I am pretty sure Luke and Wiz are working on things but I'm also forced to switch pools for the time being. I haven't changed things on my end, and I'll even entertain the idea that something could be going on with routing of our traffic. Speaking of that, any of you people with the same problems happen to be running over VPN? I am not. Oh, and I'm using CGminer 2.11.4, but we all know it's not a problem specific to our Miner app, so lets not point that finger anymore, ok? We can at least put our heads together and provide some useful info to help isolate the issue. My ISP is Comcast. Anyone else care to share yours?

My ISP is Time Warner, but I tried mining through the Tor hidden service for a while just to see if that helped or otherwise made a difference, and it did not. It has worked just fine when I've done this in the past.

I really like Eligius, but concerned that we have received no further word from Luke-Jr or WizKid. Their last post was 24+ hrs ago, and they didn't really have any useful info Do they care?
