*sigh*  So much hate.

Anyway, unless someone has a better plan, I'm going to continue with this one and we'll see how it goes.  Maybe someone can talk bitcointalk into making an Eligius sub-forum?  Roll Eyes

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

No hate here, just disappointment.  I like the subforum idea, and would like to have access to a secondary forum in case of future attacks.  However, the points I made should be important to anyone advertising a service (even if it is not for profit, more users is generally considered better).  As someone who could potentially draw a bigger audience to that forum, you might be able to get get them to better support an international audience.  OTOH, if they are actually US-based, how much redundancy do they really provide?

I can't even see how this is a bad thing. It's almost like wizkid057 is being asked to never speak of Eligius outside this one thread? Is he allowed to make a reddit post? Is he allowed to discuss it on bitcoin.stackexchange.com?

I think it is more reasonable that he is free to use his own time representing Eligius across multiple venues.

I am using the standard QT wallet for this also.

EDIT: signature fails every time.

It looks like the bitcoind used to verify the signatures on the web server crashed for some reason last night.  Please try again!  Thanks.

-wk

Hi, I also get the "Signature fails!" message every time I try to change my settings. Does anyone else have this problem again?

Hi,
You can verify that the problem is not with you here:
http://brainwallet.org/#verify

You should get your mining address as a result.

My bad...it has been working all along. An error message such as "you are signing with the wrong address, idiot" would be nice though  Wink

No hate, just frustration because abitcoin.org just doesn't work. I CANNOT REGISTER; NO VERIFICATION EMAIL RECEIVED. You being the only user listed on the forum is because no one else can register. Please have the forum host fix it.

I'm not sure what you did differently but I was able to register, upload an avatar (uh oh) and change the settings to my profile with ease. I personally would prefer to have an alternative source to go to if there is another blackout here. Maybe check your spam folder...

Did Eligius just go down? All my clients (in different geographical locations) simultaneously disconnected from Eligius and is unable to reconnect.

Seems like it's gone down. At first I thought it was the knc datacenter. Saw most of the knc miners go down. And then few minutes later, everyone else slowly going down also.

Ddos or routing/server issues?

i am new to this so please forgive if my questions are stupid or have been answered 100x before:

1) i have 6 miners (knc-hosted jupiters) running on eligius. when i check their individual speeds

2013/10/14 13:30: default: 578261.67 box21: 554642.53 box16: 578261.67 box17: 560343.7 box23: 612468.7 box22: 548941.36 675 seconds: 3.43e+6  this sums up to:

3430 Gh/s but they are running a total of less than 3200 . why is there a difference ?

2) in "shares rewarded" i get figures like 89,3 (as of last block)  and 91,5 % (estimated total)

why not 100 %  ?

thank you !

Take a look at this: http://eligius.st/~gateway/faq-page - it describes how reward is calculated on this pool and answers your second question (shelved shares).

Hope this helps,

Question 1), because the numbers on cgminer do not mean what you think nor what KNC wants to make you think they mean. Jupiters do not run at 550.  Browse Kano's messages to find the way to calculate your hashrate and when you find it please post it on KNC's thread. Thank you!

Noticed the problem in the payout queue regarding

18tN7qS7Ln3bLnd7f7xwefyDSAxui3mb47

Can't pay more than the 25btc in the generation reward?

I could be wrong but it seems this address is generating btc at such a rate that its always at the top of the que. Then the next etc...

Is there an issue with the signed messages to change options?  I've tried signing messages with standard bitcoin-qt, but the signature always fails.  I made sure I was using the right address, and the right message, and they verify in bitcoin-qt.  Is there something I am missing?  I tried adding my namecoin address several times to no avail, once including, once excluding minimum diff 16, and once including and once excluding a nickname.  I can't think of anything that might be happening incorrectly.  Am I supposed to paste the signature a certain way, rather than just pasting the text string?  (i.e: using "" or sig="" or something?)

Thanks for any help,

Van
