BTW is there a similar simple method (telnet/netcat) to test that a  stratum server is responding?

Just send
Code:
{"id": 1, "method": "mining.subscribe", "params": []}

Thanks. So an empty reply in this case means that everything is alive and well?

Code:
curl --user dummy:dummy --data-binary '{"id": 1, "method": "mining.subscribe", "params": []}'  -H 'content-type: text/plain;' http://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334
curl: (52) Empty reply from server

[EDIT: using eligius.st]

No.  stratum is not HTTP (so you can't use curl).  Stratum is just a raw TCP connection that passes json back and forth without other kinds of headers.  Use netcat (nc) to script tests:

Code:
$ echo '{"id": 1, "method": "mining.subscribe", "params": []}' | nc stratum.mining.eligius.st 3334
{"result": [[["mining.notify", "50ba4b07000000001"], ["mining.set_difficulty", "50ba4b07000000002"]], "50ba4b0700000000", 4], "id": 1, "error": null}
{"params": [0.9999847412109375], "id": null, "method": "mining.set_difficulty"}
{"params": ["1374725370 31451", "22b834070a29d897dd7a92c131b55214331b44e1e12ce44a0000002700000000", "01000000010000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000ffffffff51030bca030d00456c69676975730051f0a4fafabe6d6dbdc2d64806bb5aae305532732ff463a1c626dbd68e5c02421495d38878814c190400000000000000002f7373312f00", "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", ["7a021ca8631128993192029250fd04e0cf815ca8a07b94065756f625f399a43a", "a8537d5a32a9ae77aec157e3e185dccac8b0ebd47a5330d8d96add4ebb87ab47", "9bfc4c908d8e01fd965eabceeecd4679979dea47fdf1ef8c8160ef6703ea4bd8", "31b63eb50e49905ccc96f7926514204ba9010e62629a644891dbfb8dfc6b9068", "3ee54625a6bb6902e13362ed8675ef4daa155704a71cc7701615215e33bf7487"], "00000002", "1a008968", "51f0a4fa", false], "id": null, "method": "mining.notify"}

I think something may be wrong. My stats are frozen and cgminer tells me the pool is dead. I've tried connecting using stratum and getwork. I've been connected for days now no issues but I woke up this morning and found  my miner mining at the backup pool I have setup. I can see on the Eligius site that shares are being submitted so it's a little odd that it could be just me, Anyone else?

Looks like there has been a hardware failure with our pool server.  Datacenter tech has diagnosed it as being a motherboard issue.  Its currently being worked on/replaced.

I'll keep you informed.

Yes, some hardware was replaced.  I'm waiting for the official rundown from the datacenter tech so I can make an official post about it.

Confirmed .55btc pricing.
Eligius buyers at the previous 1.05 price should be eligible for the .10 coupon.  I will be contacting you when instructions and units arrive from the manufacturer.

Oh man, that's crazy about the price... I just picked up my old 6 on thursday.

Also, you quote non-US shipping prices at 1 BTC on the product page at http://eligius.st/~gateway/products/block-erupter-sapphire

But there is no selection to choose a country other than US when filling out the shipping info in the checkout.

I've received a few PMs about whether Eligius orders placed since the price adjustment to .55 price will ship on Monday, the answer is yes.
After Monday, I'll see how much stock is there, but there's another LARGE batch on it's way to me in case I will run out, so you won't wait too long  Grin
Generally, I always have a batch set aside for Eligius to make sure there's available inventory for this pool.

Keep getting disconnected again. Same kind of errors as this weekend. Not happening with my other pools. Just wanted to give a heads up!

Everything is in working order as of right now. There are somewhere around 100,000 connections to the pool, server load in the 10-20% area, etc. All pretty normal.
