So long story short, a friend owed me for a favor and since I did not have bitcoin before he asked If I would take it in BTC. I didn't mind since I can cash out whenever. My question is.. what do you think? Its a decent chunk of money for me to just hope something keeps rising, do you think I should "let it ride" or cash out and just be happy with ~$500?
0.03 Btc is a pretty good amount especially for people who doesn't have much. And as your first btc, considering the value right now it can be considered as big. Imho, I think you should let it ride first and see where it goes until next year. You see, the value keeps rising again as of the moment and you might be surprised how the value can be doubled in just a matter of days. But if you're having doubts you can keep half of it or whichever amount will do for you and just leave a percentage that you can start growing in btc. Or might as well try buying other coins that is/are promising because there are handful of coins out there that are really making huge percentage of growth each day just like btc.

If you don't need any money then just keep it. It will rise more in the next years so be wise.

it all depends on your goals if you have the desire to invest and earn more, then leave them (you can find the project is good, where you invest, just be careful with this)

If I were you, I'm going to use it on Trading, that way, you could have profits by just doing short trade, but holding it is not that but since you are still going to make profits but of course it will just take some time. It is all about patient especially when price is DUMPING.

You seem to be a budding entrepreneur if you don’t need the money then let it ride but make sure you store it somewhere you have full control over. You could also benefit from the wave of airdrops and Bitcoin forks which may add value also.
Thanks for the kind remarks and to everyone else for their valued input. Thought I'd let everyone know I cashed out ~$400 worth and left roughly $150 to let it ride. I made this decision based upon the holidays coming up and $400 would help out quite a bit. However, I'm excited to see the $150 appreciate some nice value Not a bad move dude anyways 400$ is already a huge amount to make your holiday special and $150 dollar investment in bitcoins is also a good start already since it's your first time to invest in bitcoins. I suggest you read info on trading and start with that amount to grow your money with alt trading but hodling BTC is not bad though.

Nice guy, that friend of yours. Should keep those friends close Don't listen to any advice but follow your own. Bitcoin will propably stay increasing in value, but if you need the money then maybe you consider cashing in. I would not advice to play around on exchanges if you have no experience into crypto's. /roos

Bitcoin is here to stay for long. Because you got it free, "let it ride" should not be so hard (whatever happens in next years).

If you want to make profit then hold it and just let it ride because bitcoin is still increasing due to high demands but if you need money then exchange to cash now.

There is one thing you could do with them...just hold them. In top of that you could try to add some satoshis in a monthly basis depeending on how much you can affor to invest. One advice..stay away from trading...you will lose everything.

that is good so you can start to trade with that bitcoin. if I were you, I will use 0.015 for trade and I will choose one coin only and I will try to make a profit from that coin. I think you need to research the coin with good movement in the exchange so you can follow and you can try to take profit. and you can keep the rest of 0.03 btc as your investment. don't even try to use for another investment programs, for example, double your bitcoin because it will scam you.

its better to hodl the money. if you have more money again you put. BTC is always rising. BTC will be 50000$ in 2018. Your return will be double definitly

we all need universal power and cyclist of Everything -2023 would most likely be as bearish as 2022- =BTC will make it, but might be a long winter=

You can hold it or sell it to make some investments. But it is better to hold it because bitcoin is still growing and it can make you more money even it is just only 0.03 btc today.

I think its better if you hold it for a while because it can be rise in value, since right now the value of bitcoin is increasing. So its better o hold it or keep it to make you earn a lot of profit, 0.03 is much value now and it become much high value in a year.

Just hold it for long term or you could invest it to grow or you can use it for trading and maximize the volume of your bitcoin.

Well, $500 won't be a huge sum of money, if you're from U.S. or Europe, however, it's a big chunk of money, especially for those from 3rd world countries. If you're not rushing to use the money - I would suggest you to hodl it for maybe 2-3 years (you'll be surprised how much it worth later on)

Ok, the best way you can do now is follow your heart. Think it before you will do. Cash out, safe it in your wallet or invest it, there are any some risk's. If you really need money for now, just cash out with no risk. If you want more profits, you can safe it in your wallet and wait till the price increase. If you want invest it, please make sure you invest in the right place.

Hold it for 5 years and then reap the profits! Or you can diversify it a little bit but the fees will be too high for the amount you have.

In my opinion, if you have 0.03 BTC in your hand then you should earn more BTC for your own forum. There are many ways to earn BTC that are involved in signature campaigns, social campaigns and bounty campaigns on this forum. And I advise if you have more BTC, you should hold up next year to be able to double the profit compared to the current. If you sell 0.03 BTC for the next year you will regret it.
