According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I will rather you leave it there for it to grow more instead of cashing out without using it unless you are urgently in need of cash that's my piece of advice

That's a good start though. Holding it is a good choice but it depend unto you. Holding it makes you more comfortable on how the value will occur or the other thing you can do is investing it. Investing can take you a lot of opportunities there and can make you more profit around it.

As you can see that bitcoin is almost stable from few days so i think you should buy some altcoins having good potential from that 0.03 btc and when you will get good profit from them, then get them converted into bitcoin.

So long story short, a friend owed me for a favor and since I did not have bitcoin before he asked If I would take it in BTC. I didn't mind since I can cash out whenever.
My question is.. what do you think? Its a decent chunk of money for me to just hope something keeps rising, do you think I should "let it ride" or cash out and just be happy with ~$500?

It's up to you whether you will cash out or not, but my advice is let it flow just wait it and wait it until it will rise up again and if you earned 5x with your current BTC you can now cash it out but you need to reserved and wait again to rise up so in the future you have earnings and you can use what ever you like.

It is better not to encash that bitcoin, as time pass by the price of it continue to increase. As long as you don't need urgently that money then make that small amount of money as your invesment. As of now, the price of bitcoin is almonts 13 thousand USD and still predicted to increase. Just wait, your money lend to your friend will grow if you hold it

Now is the opportunity to invest and make a profit of it. Put them to an exchange site and do trading. Bitcoin is rising, you can double up the quantity of your bitcoin if you do trading but you need to be carefull.

Of course it will be his choice but I wouldn't keep it in btc. I agree 0.03 is not bad money but even if btc double this money will not be so much. If I were you I would try to catch some altcoins that has potential to grow. But I have to say that is risky.

I think you should invest some of it because there are many options that accept investment even in small value the gradually you can grow it while investing on the said option. It is your chance to get high profit even you do not know bitcoin.

My advice! It is better to leave the present for the future.Even trade or something to invest a very small amount to begin with.

I would exchange them for ico. Maybe in half a year x 100 will be with them) who knows it. there are a lot of examples when in a month x 10,000% comes out of the original amount. Oyster Piarl for example.

If I'm in your position, I will absolutely hold that .03 btc because it already means a lot for me.

I understand if you will choose for withdrawal because it seems that cryptocurrency is not your interest. But try to reconsider because yocu might miss a great opportunity if you don't.

If you do not really need these 500$, why not leave them? Let it grow. When you need money - cash. Let it be a stash Wink

I would suggest cashing out if you need the money now. but if you don't, why not just hold it for a bit longer. You may have a chance to double you money to like 1000 usd by the end of the year. You can also use it for trading to make better investments.

It depends how bady you need 500$. If you don't need them badly, perhaps it could be more interesting to hold them long term. If Bitcoin will reach 100,000$ or even 1,000,000$ then you will be much more happy.

if you have faith and want to take risk then go,  ride with bitcoin and make dollars.  Now,  if you are contented with only 500, its okay to cashout now and convert it to your fiat money since you got it for free. Be happy on what you have now or take a risk to hold longer,  its your choice
