First thanks to your friend, then learn about blockchain and security.
then you can hold your cooins or exchange to some altcoins and wait, trading need more expirience you can bust your balance, and last dont play in casino

So long story short, a friend owed me for a favor and since I did not have bitcoin before he asked If I would take it in BTC. I didn't mind since I can cash out whenever.
My question is.. what do you think? Its a decent chunk of money for me to just hope something keeps rising, do you think I should "let it ride" or cash out and just be happy with ~$500?
It is all up to you my dear friend. Why not give it a try and let it ride? But for me if you really wants a win-win situation, cash out the half and let the half into your wallet, invest it on altcoins and study the blockchain. But again, it is just my personal advice.

You should use your .03 BTC gift and buy a devalued ICO coin and hold and watch for 6 months. You might be lucky to make profit. Why not try buying Electroneum coin at Cryptopia exchange.

I also recommend you doing the same. Instead of selling your bitcoin why not invest it in alt coin, which has a great potential to succeed you'll be profitable in the future by then. You can also try to use your bitcoin as a capital to engage in trading because a lot of people consider trading as a best source of profit I think it will double your money if you know how to trade.

huh what? ico ? in case you didnt know guys ico's are meant to be dangerous and verry risky because most of them are known to be a scam and even you manage to recieve your coins and tokens that doesnt mean they can be verry profitable or they can guarantee that they will recover your invested capital after 6 months. i remember once i also invested and join on a couple of ico's on the past but i have a really bad experience and dissapointment to them because i didnt manage to make a descent profit to them after waiting for a couple of months.

It's a lousy $500 - I wouldn't even bother exchanging it given the current fees unless you are particularly in need of funds. There's really nothing wrong with just holding onto it - if you're going to put the effort into researching and exchanging for alts for profit you might as well put in more than that.

If it was something largely relevant like 3 BTC then I could see a case for taking it out and spending/investing on whatever.

Happy for you that you are little by little discovering digital currencies! As you see that the bitcoin price may go up or down, so your 0.03 BTC may appreciate or depreciate (in reference to dollars) over time. If you need the money, then there's nothing wrong with converting everything into cash. Or if you want to be safe and you think that you will not regret anything possible loses if the price go up, then convert everything also. But if there is some hope for you that the price will go up, then you can hold it, or hold some and withdraw some. Even more, if you are feeling like a risk-taker, then why not involve yourself in trading? Or even  dive into investing into alternative currencies!

There are numerous altcoins which will do an easy 5x in 2018, easy. Do some research, join a reputable exchange and grow your funds.

wow you're lucky dude and be thankful that there's people who willing to share the blessings. but be careful to the advice and to the people who message you about what you're going to do in the bitcoin. because there's many people who deceptive. and my advice to you be careful to the people on your surroundings and my advice to you about the bitcoin if there's any way to gain in that price then you must enlarge it. sorry for the english. im not good at english tho

0.03 bitcoin is a big value, i think you can do some trading or invest in altcoin. so after the altocin rising up your money can get the profit too, if you cash out that bitcoin into $500 i think it will be end. you can get some profit from your bitcoin, just a money that you exchange from bitcoin

you can buy BITCOIN GOLD. the current price so low, only 0.017BTC/BTG , you can hold it until price back to 0.1btc Smiley
im sure bitcoin gold can survive because bitcoin gold is better than bitcoin cash (BCH)
