Figure in black which points at me
Turn around quick and start to run
Find out I'm the chosen one, oh nooo!"

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

So what are the predictions for Middlecoin profitability once Doge block rewards halve in a few days?

no idea. everyone talks about block halving = spike in value, but im skeptical. but from a mining perspective, say *hypothetically* that once the block reward halves, the value doubles. profitability would be unchanged. but realistically, i see value changing very little (at least at first) meaning it will drop in profitability by about half. and if the profitability algorithm is up to snuff, it should pick whatever is most profitable, and not pick DOGE anymore. but since no one really knows what coin we are mining (without diff/speed comparisons), and no one really knows the specifics of H2O's code, its anyone's guess.

we're approaching .012/MH today. pretty decent.

My thoughts as well.  I can't really conceive of the rationale behind it doubling in value overnight.  That'd be like doing a 2-1 inverse stock split, and it's not like half of all Doge mined is disappearing...  As you say, more than likely it'll just plummet in mining profitability, and the value will stay level or possibly go up slightly simply from confidence that value will not continue to dilute.

I do believe it'll have an impact on middlecoin though.  Just watching the miner for 10 minutes shows you that Doge is one of the most heavily mined coins, maybe as high as 50% of the total portfolio or more.  If that simply goes away.  Well, who knows.

That will be the true test of H2O's (assumed/perceived) abilities. Many people refer to his back alley dealings for out-of-exchange conversion of coins mined. If that is true, than one would hope he identifies another coin to push.

One word... MEOW... Wink

The moon will be reached. The next mission is to Mars.

Doge needs to reach $20bn by the end of 2014 so that everyone can donate enough to sponsor the real mission to Mars.

Noob miner here, dipping my toes into the pool with my laptop's GT650M  Grin
Just wondering why cudaminer reports a consistent 63 kH/s but stratehm.net shows on average around 37?
Earned a mighty 0.0008 BTC on my first day!

I wouldn't worry about it; I get dips like that but the payouts are where it should be for the hashrate I am working with...

Laptop?

Dude, how is your laptop going to deal with all the heat? You will kill it. Mining a few $ is not worth killing a laptop.

Heat is one of the reasons why people use open rigs.

Sorry to put a downer on your first day of BTC earnings. Just looking out for you. Wink

I see. Starting it for one hour now and I am getting 16% rejects. Will it effect my BTC per day? I am expecting 0.01 btc per day. I run my mining rig monday to friday.

http://i539.photobucket.com/albums/ff351/tophi45/Capture_zps9eb88144.jpg

Set intensity to 18, not 20, this will drastically lower you're rejects.

It will lower my hashrate, is that okay?

Lower hash rate, but fewer rejects. You save energy and yield more accepted hashes.

Post your batch file settings.

here is my batch settings. msi afterburner is the one who are doing the overclocking.

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
C:\Users\Dennis\Documents\cgminer-3.7.2-windows\cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://middlecoin.com:3333 -u 1NPUyz4igRr1jTkAxpw71BbJZ7QUCNnwq1 -p x -g 1 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 32765 -I 20 --temp-target 75 --auto-fan

I cannot also access my individual profile in middlecoin.com by entering www.middlecoin.com/reports/1NPUyz4igRr1jTkAxpw71BbJZ7QUCNnwq1.json it is showing error.

Do a search on the page using your payout address. Middlecoin hasn't added you yet, but the mining is being accounted for, by the looks of it.

All looks ok......just lower the I to I18.

Just realised the gpu is running at 89°C, not good long term I guess. Trying to decide if it's worth getting a couple of 7970s to put in an old desktop.

@gsrcrxsi: what sort of profit are you getting from that setup? Didn't think a laptop could handle cpu+gpu going flat out 24/7!

well i run the CPU on 7 threads, so the GPU process has something to use.

i get ~120 c/m from the CPU, and ~220 c/m from the GPU. not bad for a laptop.

I agree, I used an iMac 27 inch when I started (has a mobile GPU in it). Machine got so hot you could barely touch it where the GPU is and I only got about 20khs.
Still, I started to learn how it all works, went out and purchased two r9 280's a few days later.
Never mined the mac again.

Do be careful with that laptop - good to learn on, but don't kill it.

Good people, I know this is not on topic and I apologise in advance. But I feel at home here in the middlecoin forum. My whole mining experience has been middlecoin from the beginning and all the BTC's I've made are via Middlecoin

So... I'm wondering how I can convert some of my BTC's to flat currency should I need them. I'm in New Zealand, which is where I mine from. I have accumulated some BTC in a coinbase wallet.

Coinbase will only transfer to a US bank account, so I need to either setup a US bank account (tricky as a foreigner on the other sider of the world), or, transfer my bitcoins to an exchange that will let me draw down to a New Zealand bank account.

Anyone have any experience with this? Most trusted exchange at the moment that *might* transfer to an NZ bank?

Thanks!
