IME, anything to do with china/chinese is toxic in 1 way or another. i am disgusted (but not in the least surprised) with the lack of integrity, not to mention delays on everything and little to no explanation other than 'someone else' is at fault...

 I, for one, am absolutely in awe of China/The Chinese for how they've jumped all over building Bitcoin technologies ahead of most other countries.

 Xenophobia like that really has no place in these forums IMO, and credit should be given where it's due.

 Being a bad apple with low integrity and lacking scruples can happen to any individual, irrespective of race or color.

Yes! I can't wait for a world devoid of these worthless thoughts.  They are hurtful not only to the target, but to the one who harbors the feeling to begin with.  Not that racist bastards deserve a lot of sympathy on this point, but it's just not a logical form of thought.

Alright guys, got some good news, here's the two big ones.

1. chips from wednesday arrived just fine, they are being split/packaged for shipment.
2. we are going to open refund for all orders, not just june 1st/15th or what not.

expect more detailed update via newsletter later tonight.

Yifu, When are you going to finish adding trade-ins to store accounts and invoicing and shipping?   ~5 months later...still nothing.
I've opened over 17 tickets, texted, called, emailed you, pm'd you and posted on forum. No direct answers for months now.

Avalon ASIC
Now accepting refunds from any and all order dates
Due to delays we are now offering full refund in bitcoin for all the Avalon Generation One orders made on any date, It is advise for people to request refunds due to the delay and raise of bitcoin difficulty.

The update refund form can be found on the main store site, linked here.
Due to phishing attempts and spam, any refund request not made containing the original order email and phone number will be automatically rejected by the system and marked as spam, so please bear this in mind.

Avalon Generation Two Chips 55nm
Those who have invested in time and money on Avalon Generation One based devices and clones can rejoice in the fact we had the foresight to make Avalon Generation Two chips completely backward compatible in every way with 110nm generation one chips, which can be expect to go on sale Late October 2013 for immediate shipping. Avalon will no longer participate in any kind of pre-ordering.

Developers and Hobbyists should keep an close eye on our github account as we will be releasing the 55nm chip specification and reference design soon!

Can we have the option of existing orders be converted to the next gen and be placed in early queue. Some of us risked a lot and have waited since april and may with nothing to show for it. I feel it would be a fair option.

I'll add another theory to the list of theories on what Avalon did:

1)  110 nm Chip orders opened in April.
2)  April - June use 110 nm Chip orders to fund 55 nm chips / sign deal with TSMC using 110nm chip order money as a loan to get 55 nm chips.
3)  Order, with whatever is leftover (as an afterthought), 110 nm chips at a later date than the order should have been done (Hence them receiving their 9/4/2013 batch of 400,000 110 nm chips - if those were received at all).
4)  Act like they've had their well being threatened all the while they were busy working on 55 nm / signing contracts with TSMC.




---> 5)  Expect people to fall on the 55 nm chips because, apparently, they're compatible with 110 nm chip designs?  Therefore, even if people refund from 110 they still get the money on 55 ...



Does this seem like a somewhat valid theory?

Edit:  On another note -->  Would it be possible to know what modifications, if any, would be needed for 55 nm chips to work on the 110 nm design presently provided on Github so that decisions can be made?  As in, are the PCB designs reusable with the 55 nm design or absolutely not?  Also, some hash numbers per chip?  Currently the newsletter implies no serious modification (serious modifications as in re manufacturing the PCBs vs minor such as different resistors / capacitors.) necessary other than maybe a new bistream for the controller board?

We already gave them our money.  They said they would refund it, so that we can send it back to them again.

Yup.  I'm curious on what exactly does that mean.  They did note a Github update which does imply some kind of change - though based on their wording an insignificant one?  Possibly a bitstream update - though possibly more involved.  I'm hoping to be enlightened with details earlier than later.

I think it's best that they just deliver gen2 in stead of gen1 without the hassle of refunds...
